The body of a 12-year-old girl has been found inside a suitcase in Paris, according to reports.
Her father became concerned after she failed to arrive home from school on Friday, BFMTV reported.
The girl's mother reported her missing to the local police station in the French capital's northeastern 19th arrondissement later that day.
Detectives quickly launched an investigation after signs of a kidnapping were discovered in the basement of the family home.
CCTV footage then showed a woman outside the building carrying a suitcase, which was later found a few streets away in rue d'Hautpoul with the girl's corpse inside.
Her face was covered in tape and she had several cuts to her throat. A post-mortem examination will take place on Saturday.
Four people are currently in custody, but it is not clear what they were arrested for. Among them is the man who called police after discovering the suitcase.
The investigation into a 'murder of a minor under 15' is ongoing.

The schoolgirl, who has not been identified, was found hog tied with a slit throat and squeezed into a suitcase at the bottom of a building at 11pm on Friday, police said.
It has now been revealed mysterious numbers - “1” and “0” - were discovered on her body.
According to BFMTV, the numbers were “placed” on her body - meaning they were not drawn or scraped on her skin.
The young girl was found with important wounds to the throat and sellotape across her face, police said.
She then posted on her Facebook page, asking for help to find their missing daughter, who she described as a smiley blonde girl with shoulder length hair.

Thanks for the additional info. Didn’t see anything there about an Afghani suspect.
Note the women and children in the boat, but ONLY in the very front (for the photo). Everyone else was a fighting-age man. Too bad that Europeans (Ukraine supporters) cannot understand the significance of what is coming at them from across the Mediterranean Sea.
Ira Einhorn was finally extradited and died in the states, so at least we know it wasn’t him.
