Former President Donald Trump slammed the Jan. 6 committee, calling it a "total 'BUST'" after it voted to subpoena him on Thursday."Why didn’t the Unselect Committee ask me to testify months ago?" Trump wrote in a post on his Truth Social platform. "Why did they wait until the very end, the final moments of their last meeting? Because the Committee is a total 'BUST' that has only served to further divide our Country which, by the way, is doing very badly — A laughing stock all over the World?"The committee voted unanimously Thursday to subpoena Trump, demanding the former president's...

JSE-listed pharmaceutical retailer Dis-Chem has issued a moratorium on hiring white people to improve its employment equity profile. In a letter to senior management dated September 19, founder and CEO Ivan Saltzman announced the moratorium, which includes external appointments and internal promotions. "It’s the ratio between white and black that counts. So, when no suitable black candidate is found, and a white is appointed, we need several blacks just to maintain the status quo, never mind moving forward," said Saltzman.

Luke 12:8-12 Friends, in today’s Gospel, Jesus tells us how to deal with persecution. When does the Church stop being persecuted? When the Lord returns, and not before. From the earliest days until the present, the community of Jesus Christ has been the focus of the world’s violence. The Church will announce, until the end of time, that the old world is passing away, that a new world of love, nonviolence, and life is emerging. This announcement always infuriates the world of sin. Always. The twentieth century was the bloodiest on record—and the one with the most martyrs. Here’s Jesus’ encouragement:...

A fire has broken out at Iran's notorious Evin prison, with footage posted online showing flames and smoke billowing from the area. Gun shots and alarms have been reported as coming from the jail, the primary site for detaining political prisoners. An official quoted by state media said "troubles" involving "criminal elements" were to blame for the blaze. The fire comes as Iran continues to be rocked by its most intense unrest in decades. Anti-government monitoring group 1500tasvir posted videos of the fire online, in one of which chants of "death to the dictator" - one of the main slogans...

Explanation: Gamma-ray burst GRB 221009A likely signals the birth of a new black hole, formed at the core of a collapsing star long ago in the distant universe. The extremely powerful blast is depicted in this animated gif constructed using data from the Fermi Gamma Ray Space Telescope. Fermi captured the data at gamma-ray energies, detecting photons with over 100 million electron volts. In comparison visible light photons have energies of about 2 electron volts. A steady, high energy gamma-ray glow from the plane of our Milky Way galaxy runs diagonally through the 20 degree wide frame at the left,...

It discovered caps on 2 fluid-ounce bottles "that may not have sealed completely, which could result in product spoilage," Abbott said in a...

Will Wilkerson, then an executive at former president Donald Trump’s start-up Trump Media & Technology Group, was at a Fort Lauderdale, Fla., coffee shop with company co-founder Andy Litinsky last October when Trump called Litinsky with a question: Would he give up some of his shares to Trump’s wife, Melania? ...Litinsky tried to brush it off, telling Trump “the gift would have meant a huge tax bill he couldn’t pay,” Wilkerson said in an interview. “Trump didn’t care. He said, ‘Do whatever you need to do.’ ” Five months later, Litinsky, who first met Trump in 2004 as a contestant...

Slovenia has officially legalized marriage equality and adoption, making it the first country in Eastern Europe to do so. The historic moment has come about after a 6-3 Constitutional Court decision in July said that same-sex marriage and adoption are constitutional rights. The court ordered parliament to add an amendment within six months. On October 4, parliament passed the amendment legalizing both marriage and adoption. Forty-eight members voted in favor of the amendment and 29 against it. One member abstained. “With these changes, we are recognizing the rights of same-sex couples that they should have had for a long time,”...

JERUSALEM—Today, Vladimir Putin turns seventy. I certainly won’t be celebrating. Will you? The man is on a murderous rampage and as tensions between Russia and the West rapidly escalate, the rhetoric becoming increasingly apocalyptic. Last night, on the debut episode of my new primetime TV program, “The Rosenberg Report,” I devoted the first full segment to examining the threat posed by Vladimir Putin, calling him “the most dangerous man on the planet.” From Jerusalem, I also warned that “not since the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962 has the world been so close to nuclear war.” At the same moment, U.S....

Paul Ryan says Trump will not be 2024 nominee Paul Ryan said he does not believe former president Donald Trump would be the GOP’s 2024 nominee for president. The one-time Republican House speaker — who has had an acrimonious relationship with Trump — offered a blistering assessment Thursday during an interview with Teneo, a D.C. consulting shop where he serves as a vice-chairman. “We all know he will lose, or let me put it this way: we all know he’s much more likely to lose the White House than anybody else running for president on our side of the aisle....

Over the decades, the subject of the Rapture, Daniel’s 70th week, and the Millennium have been studied, examined, debated, discussed, analyzed, and dissected in great detail. Many different conclusions have been drawn by sincere and honest people, as well as some who have displayed a remarkable degree of (intentional?) Biblical ignorance. There have also been numerous attempts by authors, who are obviously unsaved and hostile to the Word of God, to discredit any view or deny the Scriptures altogether. But God, as ever, already had a response prepared within His Word. “For the word of God is living and powerful,...

Vladimir Putin was given a stern dressing down by the president of Tajikistan in another indicator that the Russian dictator has lost respect and influence in his own backyard. Fellow longstanding dictator Emomali Rahmon, ruler of the Central Asian state of 9 million since 1994, seized upon Putin's woes back home and in Ukraine to give him a piece of his mind and tell him how he really feels during a summit in the Kazakh capital of Astana. A glum and awkward looking Putin slouched back in his chair and took the seven minute tirade as a host of Central...
