Taiwan’s defense minister, Chiu Kuo-cheng, then intelligence chief, attends a press conference on August 2, 2019, in Taipei, Taiwan. One family in Southeast Kansas took a hard look at what was happening in the 4-H program they’d been a part of most of their lives and decided to take a stand. Charla King, her husband Ross King, and three of their five children (two are too young) are — or rather were — very active in the Cherokee County 4-H chapter. But disheartened by the stands the national chapter seemed to be taking, and after being roundly ignored by the national group and essentially blown off by the state organization, the Kings are starting an alternative organization. They’re calling...

Why do people (predominantly men) seek surgical reassignment (as a woman)? [...] In one category fall homosexual men who are morally uncomfortable about their orientation and see reassignment as a way of solving the problem. If they are actually women, sexual interactions with men get redefined as heterosexual. McHugh argued that many of the others seeking reassignment are cross-dressers. These are heterosexual men who derive sexual pleasure from wearing women's clothing. According to McHugh, surgery is the logical extreme of identifying with a female identity through cross-dressing. If his thesis is correct, McHugh denies that reassignment surgery is ever either...

At least 31 people were killed on Thursday in a mass shooting at a children’s day-care centre in a northeastern province of Thailand, a police spokesperson said. The gunman was an ex-police officer and he took his own life following the shooting, said news agency Reuters citing local media reports. A spokesperson for a regional public affairs office told AP that of those killed, 23 were children, two others were teachers and one was a police officer. Mass shootings are rare but in 2020, a soldier angry over a property deal gone sour killed at least 29 people and wounded...

Democrat Max Frost, running for U.S. Congress in Florida, has said Republicans like Gov. Ron DeSantis are trying to build “right-wing fascist power.” Rep. Pat Ryan, a New York Democrat, says America faces “a coordinated domestic attempt to undermine our Constitution.” **SNIP** Republicans insist that the November elections remain a referendum on Biden. The GOP holds a sizable advantage on issues like the economy and crime, according to a Washington Post-ABC News poll, and Democrats are more trusted to handle abortion and climate change. “Talking about January 6th and whether we have a democracy next year is a really important...

A federal appeals court on Wednesday said the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy violates U.S. immigration law, dealing a blow to an Obama-era program that provides deportation protection and work permits to nearly 600,000 immigrant "Dreamers" who lack legal status. A three-judge panel for the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals concluded the Obama administration did not have the legal authority to create DACA in 2012, affirming a July 2021 ruling from a federal judge in Texas who barred the Biden administration from enrolling new immigrants in the decade-old program. Despite its conclusion, the appeals court did not order...

Fox News host Martha MacCallum cut through the noise and gave Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez a devastating new nickname that lays bare the hypocrisy of the Democratic Party. MacCallum detailed New York City Mayor Eric Adams’ plan “to build a tent city in AOC’s District in the Bronx to house” the migrants sent north by Republican governors. Because Dem politicians are not known for walking the walk, Ocasio-Cortez objected to Adams’ plan. “Ocasio-Cortez voiced her concern that it was in a flood zone, then Adams caved to her demands and now it’s being moved a few miles away to Randall’s Island,”...

Vice President Kamala Harris was involved in a one-car crash on a closed roadway in Washington, D.C., which the Secret Service initially misreported as a "mechanical failure," according to a report. The Monday morning crash has sent shock waves through the Secret Service, according to insiders speaking with the Washington Post. While the vice president wasn't injured, the nature of the accident has raised the question of how such a careless incident was able to occur within the prestigious agency. The SUV carrying Harris hit a curb of a tunnel with such force that the tire had to be replaced....

MOSCOW, October 5. /TASS/. Russia has always had tremendous respect for the Ukrainian people, culture and language, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday at a meeting with the finalists of the Teacher of the Year contest. He pointed out that the plan for the development of new regions of Russia should be comprehensive and include the development of the educational process. "There will be a separate plan for assistance to Donbass, Zaporozhye, and Kherson, of course. I already said this in my opening speech. It should be comprehensive, it should be combined not only with the development of infrastructure,...

While international experts try to figure out what caused the ruptures in the Nord Stream pipeline, engineers have multiple options to try and fix it… … Pipelines must resist many threats. The massive anchors of large container ships or tankers in particular can damage the pipes—as happened in 2008 with the Kvitebjørn pipeline in the North Sea off the Norwegian coast.… … Nord Stream’s more than 1,000 kilometers of pipelines. The structures lie directly on the seabed or, where it is not stable or level enough, on a bed of gravel. They are only laid under the ground where they...

Looking into some of the Japanese Twitter accounts that were crucial in spreading misinformation about the assassination of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, it was learned in August that some of the same accounts actively spread other conspiracy theories in the past. Is it a coincidence that the accounts that spread rumors saying the Abe assassination was a “fake” were previously linked to Russian propaganda about the invasion of Ukraine and COVID-19 theories against vaccines? Never Tweeted About Abe Before A Sendai-based internet security company, Sola.com, analyzed tweets posted in Japan regarding the Abe assassination from July 8, when Mr....

No state income tax in Florida When NFL star wide receiver Tyreek Hill weighed offers from the New York Jets (who play in New Jersey) and the Miami Dolphins, no doubt there was a lot on his mind. But one consideration towered over the rest, at least according to Hill himself: signing with the Jets “was very close to happening,” but “those state taxes man. I had to make a grown-up decision.” He’s not wrong. Playing for Miami will save him an estimated $2.7 million in state and local taxes this season alone. Had he played for the Jets this...

Donald Trump is predicting that the recent court filings from Special Counsel John Durham are “just the beginning” of what’s to come. Trump reacted to reports that Durham said in a court filing that lawyers for the Clinton campaign paid a tech company to “infiltrate” servers belonging to Trump Tower and the Trump White House in an effort to establish a “narrative” linking Trump to Russia. Advertisement “It looks like this is just the beginning, because, if you read the filing and have any understanding of what took place, and I called this a long time ago, you’re going to...
