They were coming from the plane’s loudspeaker. Flight attendants assured passengers it was a technical mixup. It was presumed that once the flight got underway, the noises would cease. Instead, they continued for hours: weird guttural moans and grunts projected over the intercom, apparently coming from nowhere. In an interview with Gizmodo, Collins characterized the noises as a cross between “explosive diarrhea, vomiting, and a weird, vaguely sexual moan.” Having listened to the noises, this writer would add “bad impression of Boris Karloff as Frankenstein’s monster” to that list. In general, the noises are weird, uncomfortable, and resistant to easy...

Former liberal Prime Minister of Italy Matteo Renzi has dismissed alarmist claims in the global media that incoming Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is a “danger to democracy”, telling CNN “the idea that now there is a risk of fascism in Italy is absolutely fake news.” “Personally, I was against Giorgia Meloni. I’m not her best friend. We grew up together in politics, but we are, and will be, rivals, always,” said Renzi, who served as Prime Minister of Italy for nearly three years until December 2016, and is the leader of the liberal “Italia Viva” party.

Canadian climate scientist Dr. Tim Ball passed away on Saturday, September 24. A brief obituary has been posted at the Watts Up With That website. Ball had a long career as a professor at the University of Winnipeg, although he had been retired for a number of years, and was 83 when he died. Regular readers of this blog will likely recognize Ball as someone who commented here from time to time. I also had sporadic email correspondence from Ball, which was always respectful and informative. Ball was that rarity of a climate scientist in the world of academia with...

Two undersea pipelines crucial to delivering Russian natural gas to Germany were hit with mysterious leaks on Thursday, prompting concerns of sabotage. Why it matters: The Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines have been central to the energy crisis that has enveloped Europe in the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. While Nord Stream 2 hasn't entered commercial operation — its certification was halted on the eve of the invasion — Nord Stream 1 provided a crucial pathway for Russian gas to reach Europe until earlier this month, when Russia closed the pipeline citing maintenance concerns. The big picture: Two...

With six weeks to go until November’s elections, a new public opinion poll in the crucial battleground state of Pennsylvania indicates that Democratic Lt. Gov. John Fetterman is ahead of GOP nominee Mehmet Oz in the race for Senate, with Democratic state Attorney General Josh Shapiro leading Republican state Sen. Doug Mastriano by double digits in the gubernatorial showdown. Fetterman tops Oz, the cardiac surgeon and celebrity doctor, 51%-44% among those likely to vote in the general election, according to a Marist College Poll in Pennsylvania conducted Sept. 19-22 and released on Tuesday. Among a wider pool of all registered...

This list only includes destroyed vehicles and equipment of which photo or videographic evidence is available. Therefore, the amount of equipment destroyed is significantly higher than recorded here. Small arms, ATGMs, MANPADS, loitering munitions, drones used as unmanned bait, civilian vehicles, trailers and derelict equipment are not included in this list. All possible effort has gone into avoiding duplicate entries and discerning the status of equipment between captured or abandoned. Many of the entries listed as 'abandoned' will likely end up captured or destroyed. Similarly, some of the captured equipment might be destroyed if it can't be recovered. When the...

We have been warned. The Washington Post on Monday published an editorial board piece that sought to pinpoint all the perceived dangers posed by the rise of Giorgia Meloni to become the next premier of Italy. While generously conceding “it would be a stretch to regard Ms. Meloni, who would be Italy’s first female premier, as a fascist,” the determinedly left-wing outlet still found plenty of space to set out its argument that the single mother could be the sum of all fears for Europe.

The Russian Federation is home to a large number of ethnic republics that briefly attempted to declare their sovereignty during the collapse of the Soviet Union. A similar series of crises now facing the country should encourage debate on what should be done if such areas once again push for more autonomy.3D illustration by Photobankkiev / ShutterstockThe USSR collapsed in 1991. The political entity once referred to by President Reagan as the “Evil Empire” ceased to exist, but its successor state – the Russian Federation – survived, reconstituting itself into an equally aggressive empire. During the post-Soviet period, communist ideology...

Joe Biden repeatedly has claimed that AR-15 rifles need to be banned in America – part of his gun control agenda – because "the bullet out of an AR-15 travels five times as rapidly as a bullet shot out of any other gun." But it turns out that like his wild and false claim that certain weapons were banned from private ownership at the ratification of the Second Amendment, he's wrong about this too. A Field & Stream study on the "Five Fastest Rifle Cartridges," in fact, listed five products. They include the .220 Swift, a 40-grain round that moves...

Beyond Meat, a plant-based meat substitute company, is struggling to sell its products as consumers are rejecting them as they consider plant-based meats “woke,” Bloomberg reported Monday. Deloitte, a large consulting firm, found that consumers are no longer choosing to buy meat substitutes because they are considered far too “woke,” even among individuals that are looking to eat less red meat, according to Bloomberg. Sales of Beyond Meat’s burgers, sausages and other meat-substitute products are on the decline as the company’s stock has plummeted by 77% in 2022. Beyond Meat claims that its plant-based products are healthier for both individuals...

The Bible In Paintings 2 ENCOURAGEMENT FOR APPRECIATING AND APPLYING GOD'S MESSAGE GABRIEL'S AMAZING NEWS FOR ZECHARIAH L U K E CHAPTER 1 In the time of Herod king of Judea there was a priest named Zechariah, who belonged to the priestly division of Abijah; his wife Elizabeth was also a descendant of Aaron. Both of them were upright in the sight of God, observing all the Lord’s commandments and regulations blamelessly. But they had no children, because Elizabeth was barren; and they were both well along in years. Once when Zechariah’s division was on duty and he was...

Pro-impeachment and 21-year incumbent Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) embraced another Democrat talking point over the weekend intended to divide the Republican Party from former President Donald Trump. “I just want to make sure that our party doesn’t become a party of an individual,” she told the Wall Street Journal in an article titled “Lisa Murkowski Bets on Infrastructure to Keep Alaska Senate Seat, Deny Trump Revenge.” Murkowski’s careful line of attack resembles the establishment media’s public relations campaign to frame Trump as a cult leader. Such claims, amplified by congressional Democrats, are unfounded. But that has not prevented the Republican...

STORY AT-A-GLANCE: * Scientists warn repeated COVID boosters may result in lowered immunity through a process known as “original antigenic sin” or “immune imprinting” * Original antigenic sin describes how your first exposure to a virus shapes the outcome of subsequent exposures to antigenically related strains. The end result is that you become increasingly prone to symptomatic infections * Data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirm that people who got two or three COVID jabs are MORE likely to get ill with COVID six to eight months after the last dose than had they gotten none...
