MELBOURNE, Fla. – A man accused of attacking his girlfriend in her apartment Tuesday was arrested after the woman’s twin daughters fended him off, giving their mother enough time to find safety, according to the Melbourne Police Department. Officers responded at 1:21 p.m. to a disturbance at Manatee Cove Apartments, where the woman told police she had just been attacked at her residence by her boyfriend, 33-year-old Andrew Williams, Jr. According to a news release, Williams was “unexpectedly surprised” when the woman’s daughters — both 6 years old — used toys, sticks and a hair dryer in an attempt to...

1:34 Joy Behar told her co-host Tuesday on ABC’s “The View” that it was highly likely former President Donald Trump would be in “prison” during the 2024 presidential race, adding that she thought Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) and Georgia Democratic nominee Stacey Abrams would be a good ticket should Biden not run. During the panel discussion on Joe Biden being noncommittal on a 2024 presidential run, Behar said, “Unless Trump is in prison. It could happen. If Trump is in prison or somewhere maybe in Saudi Arabia, somewhere like Russia, it’s possible.”

Are you sitting down for this? If not, this bill is for you. New legislation in Albany is hoping to provide some relief to workers who are on their feet all day. The physically taxing dilemma has deep roots in New York. (And was memorably captured on an episode of "Seinfeld" where George convinces a store to let the security guard sit down… the guard promptly falls sleep, allowing thieves to walk off with merchandise.) The bill, called the Standing Is Tiring Act — or the SIT Act — has just been introduced in the state Legislature. If passed, the...

Jackson's water crisis is latest in history o Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg announced a large grant that'll be used to dismantle a highway built to destroy a Black community. And there's more. The Biden administration is capping off the president’s recent trip to Michigan, focused largely on worker rights and transportation innovation, by handing out its first federal grant to dismantle a highway built to perpetuate racial discrimination. The move is part of the Biden administration’s broader effort to remake America’s infrastructure to be more equitable, including addressing racist roads that were designed to facilitate white flight and deprive Black...

Lily the cat enjoys spending time outdoors and exploring. She “owned the block” in her old neighborhood, owner Stefanie Whitley said, but always made sure to come home. That all changed when her family moved to a new neighborhood in Mastic Beach. “I was really nervous about bringing her to a new area with how she would react,” Whitley said. Whitley was right to be worried. About two weeks after moving in, Lily went missing. “Normally she comes home, but this time felt different and I didn’t think that Lily was coming home,” Whitley said. About four days after Lily...

A leftist prosecutor, supported by far-left billionaire activist George Soros, has lost his bid to be returned to his job while his court case over his suspension develops. The former prosecutor, Andrew Warren, had been suspended by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis after he openly announced he would not do his job. WND had reported only days ago that Warren “openly announced he would defy state law regarding child sex changes.” DeSantis said Warren, who was the Hillsborough County state attorney, had “indicated his intent to refuse to enforce laws in state related to abortion and child transgender surgery.” Just the...

The high-level General Debate of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly opened on Tuesday in New York with Secretary-General Antonio Guterres calling attention to the use of social media to spread hate speech, misinformation, and commit abuse. Guyana’s Head of State Dr. Irfaan Ali is among scores of world leaders who will also speak during the debate and he too had raised similar concerns in Georgetown ahead of UNGA, noting its debilitating effect on development. According to Secretary-General Guterres, new technologies have been useful in helping the world to respond to ongoing crises and the UN achieve...

Joe Biden got in a lot of trouble for his disastrous “60 Minutes” interview with Scott Pelley. Even though it was probably one of the most softball interviews that you’re ever going to see on “60 Minutes,” Biden still stepped into trouble with his remarks. The White House immediately had to walk back his remarks about Taiwan — that U.S. troops would be deployed if China attacked the island nation. But among the other remarks that got him in trouble was his declaration that “the pandemic is over.” That infuriated some of the people on the left for whom masking...

In an exclusive interview with RAIR Foundation USA, an Alabama-based embalmer and licensed funeral director revealed a massive increase in strange blood clots found in the bodies that he is now embalming. Richard Hirschman, who has been an embalmer since 2001, has noticed “a change of condition of bodies since the roll-out of mRNA vaccines.” These changes include the huge increase in people with blood clots, the strange nature of these blood clots, and patients who have died of cancer without any of the tell-tale signs, such as hair loss and emaciation. “Unfortunately, there is a new normal,” he says....

The Turkish President has fired a huge warning to his Russian counterpart who is already struggling in the wake of impressive Ukrainian counter-strikes on Moscow's invading army. ...The comments, made in an interview with PBS NewsHour on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, are likely to spark fury in Russia. When asked if Russia should be allowed to keep some of the territory it's taken from Ukraine since it invaded in February and if that should be "part of a solution to this — to this conflict", he replied through a translator: "No, and undoubtedly...

The Russians find themselves out of options in their collapsing effort to overrun Ukraine. Not only did they fail to keep territory they seized in the invasion over the late winter and spring, Russia has begun to lose ground it held before the war. They’re running out of resources, and more importantly, running out of troops as Ukraine’s counteroffensive threatens to collapse their lines. What better time than now to hold a plebiscite, eh? Unfortunately, Russia may see that as their only recruitment option in Luhansk and Donetsk:(snip) Er … keep dreaming. Vladimir Putin has no concerns over even the...

We need to erode public trust and I’m determined to do that,” Biden said in remarks at the White House. “Dark money has become so common in our politics. I believe sunlight is the best disinfectant.”

LOS ANGELES -- Maury Wills, whose daring thievery on the basepaths revolutionized baseball, died on Monday night. He was 89. “I know he passed peacefully, and I am going to have a heavy heart,” said Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, who wears No. 30 because of Wills. “Maury was very impactful to me personally, professionally. He’s going to be missed. This one is tough for me.” Wills stole 104 bases in 1962, smashing Ty Cobb’s record of 96 set in 1915. Wills that year was named Most Valuable Player of the National League and the All-Star Game, in which he would...

House Democrats could vote as soon as this week on a pruned-down package of police and community safety bills, according to Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), who said the negotiators are close to the deal that’s eluded them for months. While the talks are continuing on Tuesday, Hoyer said party leaders are “hopeful that those discussions will prove fruitful in the near-term — meaning the next 24 hours.”

A move in occupied territories in Ukraine to hold ‘votes’ on joining Russia could be a sign of Vladimir Putin realizing that he has to do radical things to save face and be able to declare victory in what is increasingly seen as a failed war. Votes being held in Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson may indicate a move to annex these Ukraine territories into Russia. These moves are generating speculation on potential escalation of the war between Russia and Ukraine. Sources tell NetNewsLedger that Russian President Putin is planning a major escalation including conscription. Over past weeks the Russians...

Sun-like star co-orbiting with black hole Gaia BH1 is a Sun-like star co-orbiting with a black hole estimated at 10 times the Sun's mass. (ESO/L. Calcada) In 1916, Karl Schwarzchild theorized the existence of black holes as a resolution to Einstein's field equations for his Theory of General Relativity. By the mid-20th century, astronomers began detecting black holes for the first time using indirect methods, which consisted of observing their effects on surrounding objects and space. Since the 1980s, scientists have studied supermassive black holes (SMBHs), which reside at the center of most massive galaxies in the Universe. And by...
