Ukraine says hundreds of graves have been found outside Izyum, days after it was re-taken from Russia. Wooden crosses, most of them marked with numbers, were discovered in a forest outside the city by advancing Ukrainian forces. Authorities said they would start exhuming some of the graves on Friday. It is not yet clear what happened to the victims, but early accounts suggest some may have died from shelling and a lack of access to healthcare. Speaking on Friday, the head of Ukraine's national police service said most of the bodies belonged to civilians.

Conservatives reply to woke objections with a modest offering of facts that undo the woke narrative—and get nowhere. Here’s a better way. If you’re invited to a friend’s house for Thanksgiving Dinner, and his daughter shows up and starts talking about America’s genocide of Native Americans, what do you say? Or if you’re in a discussion of classical education with other parents from your neighborhood and someone comments that classical education has a curriculum that lacks diversity and flirts with white privilege, how do you respond? These are standard woke gestures, commonplace and unsurprising. The language is always the same,...

Up to 400 violent criminals are being shipped off to fight for Russia on the frontlines in Ukraine after recruiters promised them a pardon in exchange for six months of service. Prisoners from penal colonies who signed up for the deal were seen filing into prison vans destined for a 'training camp' in the south of Russia, video footage has shown. After perfunctory military instruction the murderers, sex offenders, burglars and other convicts will be sent to the front line following the mass jail release.

If we once thought we could afford to scoff at the woke antics of professors, the looming conquest of the corporate world by the Left should be seen for the grave threat to America that it is. Higher education’s abject submission to the gods of “diversity, equity, and inclusion” is now assured. Many colleges and universities are building into their hiring, promotion, and tenure schemes a requirement that candidates show “DEI competencies” in order to advance. What’s more, the rubrics assessing whether a candidate has hit the mark are saturated with the terminology of leftist identity politics. More importantly, they...

OFFICIAL DISPATCHES FROM GENERAL McCLELLAN. HEADQUARTERS OF THE ARMY OF THE POTOMAC, THREE MILES BEYOND MIDDLETOWN, Sunday, Sept. 14 -- 9:40 P.M. M.W. Hallack, General-in-Chief: After a very severe engagement, the corps of Gen. HOOKEE and Gen. RENO have carried the height commanding the Hagerstown road by storm. The troops behaved magnificently -- they never fought better. Gen. FRANKLIN has been hotly engaged on the extreme left. I do not yet know the result, except that the firing indicated progress on his part. The action continued until after dark, and terminated, leaving us in possession of the entire crest. It has...

With the reputation of the Justice Department and the FBI in shreds, it is reasonable at this point to suspect that any unidentified participant could have been a fed. For the left, it's all about changing the entire American 'narrative. Two of the greatest insights from the philosopher Plato are that societies are structured around symbols of justice and unity. and that societies need stories to function in an orderly way without the chaos of tyranny. For most of American history, those symbols of justice and unity were the Declaration, Constitution, flag, and churches. These symbols combined for a powerful unifying story: the story of American liberty and equality that was also inspiring the advance of liberty and equality around the world. In the maelstrom of the chaos of...

In early September, director Joshua Newton was working on the rollout of his Holocaust movie Beautiful Blue Eyes when he received a troubling email. Peter Ruppert, a digital media buyer for the film’s distributor, MovieFarm, informed Newton that Facebook had banned the filmmakers from promoting or advertising the recently finished 2009 thriller, which marks Roy Scheider’s final performance, on its platforms. The social media giant said the film’s title, which refers to the eye color of a child who perished at the hands of the Nazis and invokes a key scene in the movie, violated its policy against content that...

“Alberta holds its own,” said Manitoban Rutkowski. The province has a storied history with the mystery, including the country’s first reported crop circle dating back to 1967 near the town of Duhamel, 100 kilometres southeast of Edmonton, which was investigated by federal officials, he said. One of the more recent cases filed on the Canadian UFO report database dated Nov. 7, 2021, describes “a camouflaged triangular craft with three lights (that) suddenly went off in separate directions” over Calgary. *snip* Last March, after receiving decades of reports of drone or UAP sightings over Canadian nuclear power installations in several provinces,...

MARTHA'S VINEYARD, MA — Residents of upscale Martha's Vineyard are in a panic after several buses dropped off illegal immigrants from Florida this week. One terrified resident reportedly called the authorities after seeing Hispanic males outside her home, not even operating a leaf blower or any other kind of gardening equipment. "Hello, is this 911? Yes, there are brown-looking Latinx people outside my 20,000-square-foot seaside home, and they aren't even carrying leaf blowers," said a terrified Mavis McWhite to the dispatcher. "They aren't even holding so much as a rake. They're up to no good. I'm scared! Please send help!"

RICHMOND, Va. - Virginia has denied parole to convicted sniper killer Lee Boyd Malvo, ruling that he is still a risk to the community two decades after he and his partner terrorized the Washington, D.C., region with a series of random shootings. Malvo was 17 when he and John Allen Muhammad shot and killed 10 people and wounded three others over a three-week span in October 2002. Multiple other victims were shot and killed across the country in the prior months as the duo made their way to the nation's capital region from Washington state. Malvo was convicted of capital...

I received this in the mail today. Not only is this flier a permanent vote-by-mail application (on the reverse side), but starting this election, you may vote at ANY polling place in your County - not just the location assigned to you based on your residential address. I had no clue that they made this decision. Talk about handing Democrats victory when the three largest population centers in Illinois all vote hard blue.

By nationalizing the student lending industry, which previously had federal guarantees for private banks, Obamacare would raise $58 billion in revenue over a decade. Some Democrats promised even more. “Part of the Health Care and Education Affordability Reconciliation Act of 2010 will make key changes to the student loan industry,” Sen. Tom Carper (D-DE) said. “This measure will save taxpayers nearly $70 billion over 10 years.” So to all the other ways in which this student loan bailout is objectionable, here is another one. It is yet another abandonment of the lies used to sell Obamacare. Of all the bogus...
