Dodge will discontinue its gas-powered Challenger and Charger muscle cars at the end of next year, marking the end of an era for the brand as it starts to transition to electric vehicles. Since being resurrected in the mid- to late 2000s, the Charger and Challenger — names made popular in the 1960s and 1970s — have been stalwarts for Dodge and popular vehicles for a new generation of gearheads. The two-door Challenger particularly struck a cord of nostalgia with buyers thanks to its retro-inspired styling, while the four-door Charger has managed to achieve notable sales milestones despite consumers flocking...

The Lincoln project has called US Rep. Liz Cheney's primary loss 'the end of the Republican Party' as Democrats allies lash out against Trump-back winner Harriet Hageman. Cheney informed her supporters on Tuesday night that she had called Hageman and conceded the race, much to the dismay of the anti-Trump Super PAC The Lincoln Project. 'Tonight, the nation marks the end of the Republican Party,' the group said in a statement. 'What remains shares the name and branding of the traditional GOP, but is in fact an authoritarian nationalist cult dedicated only to Donald Trump.' Former National Finance Chair Jon...

Think twice about that granola bar in the morning because, yes you’re reading this correctly, ice cream may be a better option. A new study from Tufts University in Boston has created the “Food Compass,” a “nutrient profiling system” that ranks how healthy foods are by giving options a score. And the system is turning some preconceived notions of health on their head, namely ranking a granola bar lower than a chocolate ice cream cone topped with nuts. Researchers spent three years investigating over 8,000 different types of food and drink, examining 54 different attributes and using “cutting edge science”...

A team has discovered a molecule that can identify the development of diabetes before the first symptoms appear. Diabetes is a growing metabolic disorder. A sedentary lifestyle and an excessively rich diet damage the beta cells of the pancreas, promoting the onset of this disease. If detected early, its progression could be reversed, but diagnostic tools that allow for early detection are lacking. A team has discovered that a low level of the sugar 1,5-anhydroglucitol in the blood is a sign of a loss in functional beta cells. This molecule, easily identified by a blood test, could be used to...

The powers that be have been peddling the need for internet censorship for a long time, but that push has increased drastically under President Joe Biden and throughout the pandemic. In a new report from last week, the World Economic Forum (WEF) is doubling-down on this crackdown of misinformation and disinformation. Outlining a plan to mitigate “the dark world of online harm” by using human and artificial intelligence to censor bad actors. The op-ed report was written by Inbal Goldberger, who is the vice president of Trust and Safety at ActiveFence. She argues that the best way to combat online...

A diet high in n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) is associated with a reduced risk for breast cancer among women in China, according to a study published online July 26 in Menopause. Zhuo-Lin Zhang, M.D., from Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou, China, and colleagues examined the associations between breast cancer risk and intake of n-3 PUFAs in Chinese women in a case-control study, including 1,589 cases and 1,621 age-frequency-matched controls. A validated food frequency questionnaire was used to assess dietary data. The researchers observed an association for higher intake of marine n-3 PUFAs and total n-3 PUFAs with a lower...

Nearly three in 10 Medicare beneficiaries have at least one actinic keratosis diagnosis encounter over five years of follow-up, according to a research letter published online July 27 in JAMA Dermatology. Lucy J. The researchers found that 29.3 percent of beneficiaries had one or more actinic keratosis diagnosis...

Wyoming is a very conservative state. Forty-six percent of its adults self-identify as conservative, as opposed to moderate or liberal; only Mississippi claims a higher percentage. But in sending incumbent Liz Cheney to her premature retirement in Tuesday’s primary, Wyoming struck a blow against conservatism. Cheney’s defeat is just the latest demonstration that Trumpism now eclipses conservatism as the reigning faith of the Republican party. Compare the 46 percent of Wyoming’s adults who self-identify as conservative to the 57 percent of its adults who are Republican or lean Republican, according to Pew. That makes Wyoming more Republican than conservative; indeed,...

On this date in 1942, 39-year-old French/Ukrainian novelist Irene Nemirovsky was gassed at the Auschwitz Concentration Camp in Poland. She was a victim of the Nazis’ racial laws: anyone with even one Jewish grandparent, even if they themselves did not practice the Jewish religion, could be considered a Jew. Nemirovsky, born to a wealthy Russian-Jewish family in what is now the Ukraine, had converted to Catholicism in 1939 — sincerely, insofar as anyone can discern. Irene Nemirovsky fled Russian territory after the Bolshevik Revolution and spent a short time in exile in Finland and Sweden before eventually settling in France....

"They said she was delusional for running again after betraying most of the Republican voters of her ‘home state’ of Wyoming, and she was even sanctioned by the state’s Republican Party to stop calling herself a Republican. But just as with joining the illegal ‘J6’ committee (the first committee in history to have no members appointed by Minority Party leadership) the alt-far-left MSM rooted her on anyway. ..."
