Barr made the explosive remarks in the wake of allegations that FBI agents wrongly labeled accurate information about President Joe Biden's son as false. “I think, probably, it’s time for Merrick Garland to give the current U.S. attorney in Delaware the protections and the authority of the special counsel under the department’s regulations,” Barr told CBS News, adding, “I think, to provide additional assurance and to deal with the appearance of a potential conflict between the administration and...

[Catholic Caucus] The Terribly Simple Need to Go All-In For Christ“And Peter going down out of the boat, walked upon the water to come to Jesus. But seeing the wind strong, he was afraid: and when he began to sink, he cried out saying: Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretching forth His hand took hold of him, and said to him: O thou of little faith, why didst thou doubt?” (Matthew 14:29-31)When Fr. Marie-Dominique Molinié, O.P. preached the 1953 retreat (to Dominican nuns) that forms the basis for his recently translated The Courage to Be Afraid, he did not...

Democratic politicians are either cowering on the sidelines or feebly endorsing two candidates in one primary race thanks to their party’s gerrymandering debacle that left them with two party heavyweights — Manhattan Reps. Carolyn Maloney and Jerrold Nadler — vying for the same House seat. “The 12th congressional district is a horrible situation,” said Laura Bierman, executive director of the New York League of Women Voters. “The Legislature overreached and lost control of the redistricting process. This is a result of the legislature violating the constitution.”

OPINION AND EDITORIAL Trump’s Statement On FBI Raid At His Mar-A-Lago Home Opinion August 8, 2022 Statement by Former President Trump These are dark times for our Nation, as my beautiful home, Mar-A-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, is currently under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents. Nothing like this has ever happened to a President of the United States before. After working and cooperating with the relevant Government agencies, this unannounced raid on my home was not necessary or appropriate. Harder to address, though, is the other half of the story—something Democrat Sen. Chuck Schumer spoke of in glee, in response to then-president-elect Trump’s criticism of U.S. intelligence agencies. “Let me tell you: You take on the intelligence community — they have six ways from Sunday at getting back at you,” Schumer told MSNBC’s host Rachel Maddow. Schumer wasn’t alone in warning of U.S. intelligence agencies’ penchant for politicized revenge.

For now at least, until data catches upReal-time deepfake videos, heralded as the bringers of a new age of internet uncertainty, appear to have a fundamental flaw: They can't handle side profiles. That's the conclusion drawn in a report [PDF] from Metaphysic.ai, which specializes in 3D avatars, deepfake technology and rendering 3D images from 2D photographs. In tests it conducted using popular real-time deepfake app DeepFaceLive, a hard turn to the side made it readily apparent that the person on screen wasn't who they appeared to be. Multiple models were used in the test - several from deepfake communities and...

After working and cooperating with the relevant Government agencies, this unannounced raid on my home was not necessary or appropriate. Karen Lew claimed her mortgage debt was forgiven because of a non-existent law called NESARA/GESARA When Karen Wai King Lew told a B.C. judge that her mortgage debt had been completely forgiven, she invoked a two-decade-old conspiracy theory about a "new world order" that has recently resurfaced. According to a recent B.C. Supreme Court ruling, Lew appealed a foreclosure order on her Vancouver home on the basis that something called NESARA/GESARA had been enacted and all credit card, mortgage and other bank debt would be wiped out in a "jubilee" of forgiveness. The Schumer-Manchin tax bill known as the Inflation Reduction Act, which passed the Senate on Sunday, raises taxes and will give the IRS billions to go into what the Wall Street Journal called “beast mode.” In all, the meant-to-be-inflation buster bill will dole out about $80 billion to the IRS for increase enforcement, operational improvements, customer service, and systems modernization. Think big, really big. That $80 billion is more than six times the current annual IRS budget of $12.6 billion. How can the IRS spend all of that? You guessed it, the bill says a whopping $45.6 billion will be...
