The Sixth Street Viaduct will be closed tonight for a third night in a row -- for what the Los Angeles Police Department characterized as “illegal activity.” “Unfortunately, we've entered another evening where the 6th St Viaduct had to be closed due to illegal activity,'' the department's Central Area Division tweeted late Saturday. “The day began with community residents holding signs in the middle of the bridge to “RESPECT THE BRIDGE.” Let's listen!'' The $588 million bridge, which opened to the public on July 10, was also closed overnight Saturday due to a traffic collision involving a pickup parked in...

Vladimir Putin has warned that "a new stage in world history" is coming in a speech in which he condemned "the model of total domination" by the West. During the address on Wednesday in Moscow, the Russian leader took a swipe at the populations of Western countries, which he described as the "golden billion", and asked why their leaders should "impose their own rules of conduct based on the illusion of exclusivity" which he believed was "inherently racist and neo-colonial." "One gets the impression that the West simply cannot offer the world its own model of the future," Putin said,...

Three thieves were caught on tape barging into a Brooklyn church on Sunday where controversial bishop Lamor Whitehead — an ally to Mayor Adams — was preaching and snatched $400,000 worth of jewelry off of him and his wife. Whitehead, the Rolls-Royce-driving bishop who recently tried to broker a deal for the surrender of a man accused of a subway murder to the mayor, was preaching at Leaders of Tomorrow International Ministry on Remsen Ave. near Avenue D in Canarsie about 11:15 a.m. Sunday when three masked bandits stormed into the church, the pastor and cops confirmed. The city of Kalamazoo, Michigan has now decriminalized public urination, defecation, and littering to be more “equitable.” Small business owners in the area had voiced their opposition to the effort, but their concerns were ignored. ......snip...... Kalamazoo Mayor David Anderson said that decriminalizing these offenses will help the city be more “equitable.” City Commissioner Chris Praedel said pretty much the same thing, according to a report from Fox 17, that it is “fair and equitable to who these laws were most affecting, the unhoused population, as well as provide a better solution for those trying to get on their feet.”...

CNN offers 24 hours of programming every day, but not a whole lot of uncomfortable truths, so it was noteworthy when CNN host Becky Anderson asked her guest, Iranian-American academic Mohammad Marandi, about increasingly close ties between Russia and Iran despite Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and Marandi gave her a double-barreled blast of honesty in response. ...

Ukraine has long been considered the most corrupt nation in Europe, and was widely recognized as such by American media outlets – right up until Russia invaded and suddenly Ukraine had to be “reimagined” as a paragon of democracy and a plucky underdog in the fight for freedom. Now that the Ukrainians appear likely to lose the war, however, mainstream outlets like NPR are rediscovering Ukraine’s rank corruption and reporting the truth again – but unfortunately too late to stop the tens of billions of dollars in military aid that’s been shipped off. Jimmy and America’s comedian Kurt Metzger discuss...

As Russia's invasion of Ukraine hit the five-month mark on Sunday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy pledged to continue inflicting "the greatest possible losses on the enemy." "Even the occupiers admit we will win," Zelenskyy said in a video address on Sunday. "We hear it in their conversations — all the time, in what they tell their loved ones when they contact them." Ukraine will celebrate the Day of Ukrainian Statehood on Thursday, a new national holiday that was decreed by Zelenskyy last August.

U.S. Rep Liz Cheney’s recent decision to abstain from voting on two pro-choice abortion bills caught heat during a Republican U.S House debate in Evanston on Tuesday night. Cheney did not participate in the debate sponsored by the Uinta County Republican Party, but GOP primary challenger Harriet Hageman criticized her for being absent from Congress for the two votes. “I believe she’s attempting to shore up support from the Democrats and that’s why she stayed away from voting for that,” candidate Harriet Hageman said.

LONG POND, Pa. -- The siren at the Dawsonville, Georgia, pool hall that sounds whenever Chase Elliott wins a race did indeed go off Sunday night without the hometown star ever leading a lap at Pocono Raceway. "Winner, winner Joe Gibbs Racing are cheaters!'' the Dawsonville Pool Room tweeted. In an extraordinary decision for a NASCAR Cup Series race, Joe Gibbs Racing driver Denny Hamlin had his Pocono win thrown out and runner-up and teammate Kyle Busch also was disqualified after their Toyotas failed inspections.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Albuquerque police are investigating a double home invasion turned homicide. It happened around 8:30 a.m. Sunday morning in a neighborhood near Carlisle and Comanche. Police say a man broke into the first home and was confronted by the homeowners. He reportedly tried to steal their car, but eventually ran off and broke into a second home. Former President Donald Trump didn’t say he would try to reclaim the White House in 2024 when he addressed young conservatives in Tampa on July 23.But he didn’t say he wouldn’t.He dropped not-so-subtle hints during his hour-and-45-minute address to attendees of the Student Action Summit.“I ran twice, and I won twice,” he teased, as audience members jumped to their feet, shouted their support, and clapped.“And now, we may just have to do it again,” he beamed, as the crowd of 5,000 teens and 20-somethings chanted, “Take it back! Take it back! Take it back!”Expected highlights of Trump’s prepared remarks had...

House Democrats' marquee summer show of primetime investigative hearings ended Thursday night where it began: unable or unwilling to answer essential questions about the Jan. 6 Capitol breach. Chief among them: If Donald Trump wanted to incite violence that fateful day, as his critics suggest, then why did he order the Pentagon to have a large military force ready to quell a disturbance? And why did a Democrat-led Congress turn down the assistance of pop National Guard troops in the face of intelligence warnings about violence?

From day one to day one-thousand-four-hundred-sixty-one, no opposition was too much opposition by anyone, in every institution and every branch – including both wings of the UniParty congress, upper and lower chambers.…….. Sometimes I laugh at the hindsight of people who say Donald Trump had terrible judgement in his appointments. I snicker because these are the same people who said General James “Mad Dog” Mattis was the greatest military leader since George Washington. How did that role as defense secretary work out? No wait, Trump could have done a better job against the 147,000 people in the United States Dept...

"I will remember December 23, 2016 for the rest of my life. It was my last day working a full-time job. Former President Donald Trump, seeking to capitalize on President Joe Biden's sagging approval ratings among young Americans, delivered a fiery speech Saturday night in Tampa, Florida."Now we are a beggar nation," Trump told the young crowd of the Turning Point Action Summit. "We are a beggar nation, with Biden down on his knees pleading for energy from all over the globe — going to Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, going to countries all over the globe asking for help."And we have more liquid gold under our feet than all of these other countries that you hear about and that they talk about...
