After the testimony of former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson, is there any doubt that Donald Trump fomented the insurrection on Jan. 6, 2021? There are no longer any innocent explanations for what he did that day. Select Committee testimony has demonstrated that he knew he had no good factual or legal basis for his claim that the election was stolen, that he knew Vice President Mike Pence was not going to save him and that his only chance to remain in the White House was to stop the final ratification by Congress on Jan. 6. The testimony has also...

“Let a bear robbed of her whelps meet a man, rather than a fool in his folly. Whoso rewardeth evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house. The beginning of strife is as when one letteth out water: therefore leave off contention, before it be meddled with” (Proverbs 17:12-14).

A judge in Tennessee has temporarily banned two federal agencies from enforcing directives issued by the Biden administration that extended protections for LGBTQ people in schools and workplaces, like allowing transgender people to use the bathroom of their choice. US District Judge Charles Atchley Jr. on Friday ruled for 20 state attorneys general who sued last August claiming the Biden administration directives infringe on states' rights. The ruling could prevent students from participating in sports based on their gender identity or requiring schools and businesses to provide bathrooms and showers to accommodate transgender people.

Do you think the GOP will win a landslide victory in the November midterms? Do you think it will be a cakewalk? Boy are you naïve. I’ve been warning about what’s coming for many months on my nationally-syndicated radio show “Wayne Allyn Root: Raw & Unfiltered” on USA Radio Network. It’s all starting to happen just as my crystal ball predicted. First, I’ve been warning nonstop that Democrats are planning to steal the 2022 midterms, just like they stole the 2020 presidential election. More on that in a moment. Second, I’ve been warning that Democrats (and their PR wing in...

Today’s Gospel at Mass is the very familiar one of Martha and Mary. Martha is the anxious worker seeking to please the Lord with a good meal and hospitality. Mary sits quietly at his feet and listens. One has come to be the image of work, the other of prayer.Misinterpreted? In my fifty-two years I have heard many a sermon that interpreted this Gospel passage as a call for a proper balance between work and prayer. Some have gone on to state that we all need a little of Martha and Mary in us and that the Church needs both...

A former Southwest Airlines flight attendant who was fired after sparring with her union president over abortion won a $5.3 million jury verdict against the airline and the union Thursday. A jury in a Dallas federal district court handed down the verdict, ruling Charlene Carter had been fired for her religious stance on abortion, which she shared to social media, and that her termination was in violation of her right to advocate against her union. If it stands, Carter could collect $4.15 million from Southwest and $950,000 from Local 556 of the Transport Workers Union, mostly in punitive damages. Southwest...

A petition in Ukraine calling for same-sex marriage to be legalised has gained enough signatures for the president to consider the proposal. The petition has more than 28,000 signatures, meaning President Volodymyr Zelensky now has 10 days to respond. Homosexuality is not illegal in Ukraine, but same-sex marriages and civil partnerships are not recognised. This has caused particular problems for LGBT people signing up for the military following Russia's invasion. For example, under Ukrainian law if someone in a same-sex relationship dies, their partner cannot collect their body or bury them. The online petition says: "At this time, every day...

Whines to Dem Donors First lady Jill Biden complained in front of donors in Nantucket on Saturday, while delivering a speech at a fundraiser. Speaking about her husband, President Joe Biden, the first lady appeared saddened by what was happening to the world during his presidency. “He had so many hopes and plans for things he wanted to do, but every time you turned around, he had to address the problems of the moment,” she said. Biden spoke to about two dozen guests at the fundraiser for the Democrat National Committee, setting aside her prepared remarks for a frank discussion....

Lately, beachgoers on Long Island have had to be on the lookout for more than just sun and fun. There have been five shark attacks in just the last two weeks. Among them was a Fire Island lifeguard who was bitten on the foot. At one point, two people were attacked on the same day. And an Arizona tourist was bitten on the hand and buttocks while standing in waist deep water, suffering wounds to his lower leg while he surfed.

The race to develop a vaccine against covid-19 was a matter of life and death. A recent study found that in 2021, 20 million lives were saved by the jabs. Researchers at Airfinity, a life-sciences data firm, have used those numbers—along with data on which shots were most widely administered in each country—to estimate which one averted most deaths. Airfinity found that more than half of lives saved around the world could be attributed to just two vaccines, which shared first place: AstraZeneca-Oxford and Pfizer-BioNTech. Each averted between 5m and 7m deaths (because of the considerable uncertainty, The Economist deemed...

We are not slaves!.. Farmers in Italy, Spain and Poland have joined Dutch farmers in protest of 'green' government regulations that will decimate the industry by forcing them to reduce their use of nitrogen fertilizer compounds. "We are not slaves, we are farmers," said Italian farmers, who drove tractors through the streets of Milan and blocked city traffic.

Infectious diseases expert and former presidential Covid adviser Dr Deborah Birx told The Mail on Sunday that coronavirus ‘came out of the box ready to infect’ when it emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2020. (Snip) She accused China of initially covering up how infectious Covid was. Birx said Covid’s infectiousness was consistent with a virus which had been experimented on in a lab. 'In laboratories you grow the virus in human cells, allowing it to adapt more. Each time it passes through human cells it becomes more adapted,’ she said.

The Iraqi political scene has been ablaze for the past 72 hours due to the emergence of recordings attributed to Nuri al-Maliki, the ex-Iraqi PM, in which he appears to be criticising and insulting Moqtada al-Sadr, one of Iraq's strongest Shiite political figures whose faction won big in the 2021 general parliamentary election. “The issue is that there is a British project aiming to put Moqtada in control of the Shia and Iraq, then they would kill him and give Iraq to the Sunnis. The issue is not al-Maliki [myself], I can just leave and take refuge in the house...

Tensions between Joe Biden and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman had been high ahead of their first meeting in Saudi Arabia, especially after Biden's administration last year released an assessment by the intelligence community that Prince Mohammed "approved" the operation that led to Khashoggi's killing and dismemberment in the kingdom's Istanbul consulate. For more analysis on Biden's first visit to the Saudi Kingdom, FRANCE 24 is joined by Mohammed Soliman, Non-Resident Scholar at the Middle East Institute (MEI) in Washington DC. He does not believe that Biden's visit will significantly change its relationship with the US nor will it dramatically...
