No sooner had the Supreme Court issued its Dobbs opinion then West Virginia’s sometimes-rational-Democrat senator Joe Manchin and senior Maine-Squish-Republican, senator Susan Collins, came out expressing their combined horror and indignation over the decision. They both went to say they were aghast that both Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch had apparently misrepresented to them, both in private meetings and during their hearings, that they would respect established precedent. The senators felt “betrayed” by the pair. Manchin was quoted as saying, “I trusted Justice Gorsuch and Justice Kavanaugh when they testified under oath that they also believed Roe v. Wade was...

WASHINGTON (AP) — A political shift is beginning to take hold across the U.S. as tens of thousands of suburban swing voters who helped fuel the Democratic Party's gains in recent years are becoming Republicans. More than 1 million voters across 43 states have switched to the Republican Party over the last year, according to voter registration data analyzed by The Associated Press. The previously unreported number reflects a phenomenon that is playing out in virtually every region of the country — Democratic and Republican states along with cities and small towns — in the period since President Joe Biden...

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem on Sunday said her state will prosecute doctors who perform abortions and will work to restrict women’s access to abortion pills. South Dakota is among 10 states with “trigger laws” that declared abortion a criminal offense immediately upon the US Supreme Court’s decision Friday to strike down the 1973 Roe v. Wade case that established a women’s right to have the procedure. Noem, a Republican, said South Dakota will prosecute doctors, not women, who violate its law.

Google has told its workers in the U.S. that they will be allowed to move to another state without having to justify it following the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade which removed the constitutional right to abortion. But other companies who plan to help their workers travel across state lines in order to undergo terminations, may face the wrath of lawmakers who are threatening to introduce legislation to block or at least hinder such offers of support.

Elite tennis players have an uncanny ability to clear their heads after making errors. They constantly move on and start fresh for the next point. They can’t afford to dwell on mistakes. Peter Strick is not a professional tennis player. He’s a distinguished professor and chair of the department of neurobiology at the University of Pittsburgh Brain Institute. He’s the sort of person to dwell on mistakes, however small. . . . . . .For a long time, it has been understood that the adrenal glands were turned on and off by a couple discrete pathways coming from the brain....

Climate regulation could be the next Democratic priority to fall to the Supreme Court. The court released two major decisions this week - on guns and abortion - and is expected to soon rule on a case that has major implications for what powers the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has to regulate climate change. Experts say a court ruling in favor of those seeking to curb the EPA’s authority could stunt the agency’s ability to prevent climate change from worsening. “The more tools the court takes away from the EPA, under the Clean Air Act to address greenhouse gas emissions,...

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that the Supreme Court justices who lied about Roe v. Wade as the court case that set the precedent they would respect during their Senate confirmation should be impeached. Ocasio-Cortez said, “We had two conservative senators in the United States Senate, Senator Manchin and Collins, come out with a very explosive allegation that these, several Supreme Court justices misled them in, during their confirmation hearings and in the lean lean-up to their confirmation. This is a crisis of legitimacy. We have a Supreme Court justice whose wife participated on...

AUSTIN (Nexstar)— Two Austin-area Texas doctors said less than 48 hours after the Roe v. Wade opinion was released on Friday, more patients are looking into vasectomies and getting their tubes tied. The Supreme Court opinion released Friday, will end Roe V. Wade—leaving it up to individual states, to regulate whether abortions are allowed. “We’ll typically receive about 200 or so phone calls on a given Friday,” Dr. Koushik Shaw, founder of the Austin Urology Institute said.” “Then we had over 400 phone calls to our office just this past Friday, with 70 occurring over just the one hour period...

(CNN)Georgia Democratic gubernatorial nominee Stacey Abrams on Sunday called for a legislative solution that would restore nationwide access to abortion following last week's US Supreme Court ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade as some states, including her own, move to restrict the procedure. "We know that the right to choose should not be divvied up amongst states. And that the sinister practice of taking constitutional rights and allowing each state to decide the quality of your citizenship is wrong. Women deserve bodily autonomy, they deserve the right to make these choices," Abrams told CNN's Jake Tapper on "State of the...

An abortion clinic based in North Dakota has raised more than $550,000 to fund its move in the two days since the Supreme Court's decision to roll back Roe v. Wade. The Red River Women's Clinic of Fargo, North Dakota, set up a GoFundMe to assist with a planned move to Moorhead, Minnesota. North Dakota is one of the at least 13 states that has a "trigger" law, which immediately bans abortions following the overturn of Roe v. Wade. The move to Minnesota has been in the works since reports that overturning the case was a possibility, Tammi Kromenaker, clinic...

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has waded into the US abortion furore saying the decision which allows the practice to be banned was a 'setback for women' that 'caused enormous distress'. Mr Albanese, who was flying to Spain to attend a NATO conference, told ABC radio the US Supreme Court's decision to overturn the Roe v Wade ruling guaranteeing abortion freedoms transgressed women's rights. 'Well, people are entitled to their own views, but not to impose their views on women for whom this is a deeply personal decision,' Mr Albanese said. 'That is, in my view, one for an individual woman...
