After the Uvalde City Council voted against a leave of absence for embattled school district police chief Pete Arredondo on Tuesday evening, Mayor Don McLaughlin harshly criticized Department of Public Safety Director Steven McCraw for blaming local police in last month's shooting at Robb Elementary School. It came hours after McCraw told a special committee in the Texas senate that there was "a sufficient number of armed officers wearing body armor to isolate, distract, and neutralize the subject" within three minutes of the shooting, but Arredondo "decided to place the lives of officers before the lives of children." McLaughlin told...

Not long after al Qaeda terrorists flew commercial jets into the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon in Northern Virginia, Major League Baseball teams started playing “God Bless America” in the seventh inning of their games. Many of these games were played in stadiums owned by local governments. Did that establish a religion? In Boston, the municipal government concluded that allowing a private group — Camp Constitution — to temporarily lift its Christian flag on a city-owned flagpole would suggest that the city was establishing a religion — and, thus, violating the First Amendment. On the same...

A group of around 200 partiers broke into an $8million Florida home and turned the foyer into a boxing ring before fleeing from police. The Walton County Sheriff's Office was called by security to a house in Watercolor for a 'noise complaint' on Saturday after a large group of rowdy partiers broke in and damaged the property. A flyer was allegedly passed around for a week on Snapchat, announcing the break-in, which the Sheriff's Office said in its post: 'Yes, we know about that too.' Operatively the situation in our area is consistently tense, but controlled. The enemy continues to conduct combat operations at a certain line of Defense. To prove its power, it uses the tactics of dispersed, but almost simultaneous missile strikes in combination with multiple launch rocket systems or artillery. So, in the morning at the same time cruise missiles attacked Nikolaev and Ochakov, affected the port infrastructure, destroyed trucks, damaged buildings of enterprises and electrical networks. In parallel, the Multiple Launch Rocket System "Hurricane" shelled residential areas of Nikolaev. At the same time, prohibited cluster munitions were again used. One of...

The burn rate for this government (Ukraine...) is somewhere between five and six billion dollars a month and that is a staggering burn rate. USAID was part of president Biden's commitment in disbursing a billion dollars to the world bank trust fund. Thanks to congress and rare bipartisanship in this town we have 7.5 billion dollars more direct budget support that we wish to be providing to Ukraine. That is a lot of money and that is money that we know is not going to be enough. We know that more direct budget support is going to be needed down...

The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that Democrat Joe Biden’s Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) violated drug reimbursement rules for low-income patients in a blistering decision that the media is largely ignoring.President Donald J. Trump was in an epic battle with the HHS for his entire administration, wanting the massive and overblown agency to make better choices to serve the American people, and the left absolutely freaked out at the notion that a Government institution was not just a jobs program for them and their cronies- but was actually meant to serve the American people- effectively. He was so...

In case you didn’t know (between the horrid “bi-partisan” gun bill the Senate is attempting to pass and the distressing news out of Uvalde), there are several primaries and runoff elections happening tonight. One race that RedState has watched closely is the Alabama Senate contest. Richard Shelby, who is retiring from this Senate seat. The runoff contest became a choice between the true MAGA candidate and the Republican establishment candidate. On Tuesday night,...

Bassania was an Illyrian city that came under Roman control during the Illyrian Wars. The location of Bassania has previously been suggested to be near the village of Pedhanë in the Lezhë County, or the village of Bushat in the Shkodër County. Bassania was described by the Roman historian Livius (59 BC – AD 17) in the context of the struggle of the Roman army with the last king of the Illyrians, Gentios. The site was first discovered in 2018, when researchers from the University of Warsaw identified cyclopean defensive walls and two stone structures previously thought to be natural rock...
