No communist was ever as dedicated to economic suicide as the current class of idiots who rule us…High inflation, over-regulation, and a general sense that things are going in the wrong direction remind us of the late 1970s and early ’80s. But today the underlying problems that were responsible for our woes in that time are vastly worse. The coming reckoning for Washington’s insanely irresponsible monetary policy may dwarf the troubles from all recent recessions and periods of inflation. The Federal Reserve has created a doom loop between the housing market and inflation. For years it has printed tens of...

One of Putin's main goals in this year’s invasion of Ukraine was to quickly conquer the port city of Mariupol so that he could then devote more troops and resources to subduing Kyiv and the rest of the nation. But the defenders of Mariupol put up lionhearted resistance for months on end that defied all expectations and changed the course of the war. This episode looks at their remarkable and inspiring stand against evil.

The mother of the Texas school shooter who massacred 19 children and two teachers pleaded on Friday for victims to “forgive me, forgive my son.” Adriana Martinez, the mom of deranged 18-year-old gunman Salvador Ramos, wept in her car as she insisted she had no idea what led her son to snap — though she added that he must have had his “reasons.” “I have no words to say, I don’t know what he was thinking,” Martinez told the Spanish-language station Televisa. “He had his reasons for doing what he did. Please don’t judge him. I only want the innocent...

Authorities are reportedly investigating whether a retired federal agent knew about a white supremacist’s plans to carry out his deadly attack at a Buffalo supermarket 30 minutes before the crazed gunman went on the rampage. Two law enforcement officials with knowledge of the probe told the Buffalo News that the feds believe the former agent — believed to be from Texas — was among at least six people who regularly communicated with alleged gunman Payton Gendron online about his racist views. The sources said Gendron had also invited some online acquaintances to read about his hate-fueled, imminent plan to attack...

Mike Roberts claims it's a 'once-in-a-lifetime' find and he couldn't wait to show colleagues and familyA horrified chef was stunned to discover what he believed to be a withered 'zombie hand' stretching from its overgrown grave - only to discover it's a rare fungus called dead man's fingers. Mike Roberts stumbled across the 'horrifying' formation in Pwllycrochan Woods, Colwyn Bay, North Wales, while out walking on a work break. Images show five stems of xylaria polymorpha mushroom, known as dead man's fingers, poking through the greenery in the 'perfect' shape of a hand. Their white-coloured ends give the creepy impression...

It should go without saying that Liz Cheney isn’t Brian Kemp. Although I can understand why her supporters are clinging to the thin reed of hope provided by Georgia this week. Trump’s multiple losses in high-profile primaries have Cheney supporters in Wyoming convinced that he’s now a paper tiger. Trump-backed candidates have lost recently in Georgia, Nebraska, North Carolina and next door in Idaho. In Pennsylvania, his first choice in the Senate GOP primary exited the race after a scandal, and his second choice is mired in a recount… [Local GOP leader] JOE MCGINLEY told Playbook that as a Cheney...

Students trapped inside a classroom with a gunman repeatedly called 911 during this week’s attack on a Texas elementary school, including one who pleaded, “Please send the police now,” as officers waited in the hallway for more than 45 minutes, authorities said Friday. The commander at the scene in Uvalde — the school district’s police chief — believed that 18-year-old gunman Salvador Ramos was barricaded inside adjoining classrooms at Robb Elementary School and that children were no longer at risk, Steven McCraw, the head of the Texas Department of Public Safety, said at a contentious news conference. “It was the...

Last weekend we showed something remarkable (or delightful, if one is a stock bull): with the US economy on the verge of recession, with inflation topping, with the housing market about to crack, the last pillar holding up the US economy (and preventing the Fed from continuing its tightening plans beyond the summer), the job market, had just hit a brick wall as revealed by real-time indicators – such as Revello’s measure of total job postings – which plunged by 22.5%, the biggest change on record (we also listed several other labor market metrics confirming that the job market was...

Burial at sea is a ceremonial tradition dating back to ancient times when necessity dictated that the remains of deceased Sailors return to the deep. During World War II, several navies, including the U.S. Navy, buried their dead at sea. Often conducted while still on station in combat areas, the ceremonies were generally as brief as possible. On 12 May 1945, the day after two kamikazes struck aircraft carrier Bunker Hill (CV-17) off Okinawa, one of the longest burials at sea in U.S. Navy history commenced. The ceremony was not only a testament to the fallen, but to the survivors,...

The father of the 18-year-old gunman who killed 21 people at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, this week wants the world to know he is sorry. In an interview with The Daily Beast on Thursday, Salvador Ramos said, “I just want the people to know I’m sorry man, [for] what my son did.” “I never expected my son to do something like that,” Ramos, 42, added. “He should’ve just killed me, you know, instead of doing something like that to someone.” He said he did notice one change in his son in recent months: a pair of boxing gloves...

Some amateur sleuthing and a chance encounter helped uncover how the former president of The Gambia had laundered his money by buying a luxurious property in the US. Now a court has ruled that the $3m (£2.4m) mansion in the state of Maryland, near Washington DC, should be seized from a trust set up by ex-Gambian leader Yahya Jammeh. Funds raised by the sale of the house should benefit those who were harmed by the former president's "acts of corruption and abuse of office", the US authorities say. An investigation by the department of justice (DOJ) found that the money...

WASHINGTON, D.C.—A senile old man in Washington who has a deadly nuclear arsenal at his fingertips is calling for dangerous weapons to be taken out of the hands of the mentally unstable. "Listen, folks, this shouldn't be difficult," said the yammering old geriatric to a duck in the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. "The mentally unstable shouldn't have guns! It's dangerous! Think of what could happen, Jack! They could fire it blindly through their front door because they heard a noise, or leave it right out in the open where a Taliban terrorist could pick it up, or accidentally kill innocent...

MORE than 1,000 'vampires' celebrated the 125th anniversary of Bram Stoker’s Dracula by breaking a quirky world record in Whitby. The seaside town, and particularly its Abbey, is famous for inspiring Stoker's classic Gothic tale and on Thursday evening 1,369 people dressed as vampires gathered at the iconic ruins. They broke the world record for the largest gathering of people dressed as vampires. The previous record was 1,039 set in Doswell, Virginia, in 2011. English Heritage took to social media to say: “We’ve just broken the Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people dressed as vampires with 1,369...

Explanation: Like Earth's moon, Saturn's largest moon Titan is locked in synchronous rotation. This mosaic of images recorded by the Cassini spacecraft in May of 2012 shows its anti-Saturn side, the side always facing away from the ringed gas giant. The only moon in the solar system with a dense atmosphere, Titan is the only solar system world besides Earth known to have standing bodies of liquid on its surface and an earthlike cycle of liquid rain and evaporation. Its high altitude layer of atmospheric haze is evident in the Cassini view of the 5,000 kilometer diameter moon over Saturn's...

A student at Uvalde High School in Texas who says he knew Salvador Ramos rejected the prevailing media narrative that the gunman was the victim of bullying, and this was the catalyst for his May 24 mass shooting at Robb Elementary School. Ivan Arellano, a senior at Uvalde High School, told WFAA-TV in Dallas that Ramos “was not a good person” and had been a bully himself. “Salvador Ramos was a boy who was not bullied,” Arellano said on Wednesday. “He would try to pick on people but fail, and it would aggravate him.” - more -

An enraged Georgia father tracked down his teenage daughter’s location via her cellphone and shot the 17-year-old boy he found her with, police said. Upon arrival, police found 36-year-old Dustin Vandegrift attempting to flee the Central Alliance Church in a white Camaro. He was detained for questioning, cops said

Security footage from Robb Elementary School in Texas shows that a back door was propped open by a teacher before Tuesday's deadly mass shooting, Texas law enforcement officials said. At 11:27 a.m. on Tuesday morning, the door that police believe was used by the 18-year-old gunman to enter the school was propped open by a teacher, Director of Texas Department of Public Safety Steven McCraw said at a Friday press conference. McCraw said the detail was confirmed through "video evidence." After the gunman crashed his vehicle in a ditch just a minute later, the teacher ran to get a phone...
