  • dealing with overvolts

I have a general questions for freepers who might be knowledgeable about electronics and such things. I have a CyberPower UPS that I run my desktop and monitor through. It seems to work OK when I actually lose power here. However, we apparently get overvolts occasionally. When that happens the UPS just drops power and turns off. Obviously, this is a less than ideal situation. I have to physically power it back on before I can restart my desktop. Kinda defeats the whole idea of having a UPS. The reason I suspect an overvolt situation, is because the UPS has...

Together with Slovenia and the Czech Republic, Poland has prepared a list of actions the EU must enforce if it really wants to end the war. 1) Cut off all Russian banks from the SWIFT international payment system. 2) Put in place a common asylum policy for Russian soldiers who refuse to serve the criminal regime in Moscow. 3) Completely stop Russian propaganda in Europe. Freedom of speech does not mean the right to lie. 4) Block Russian ships from our ports. 5) The same blockade must be put in place for road transport in and out of Russia. 6)...

JK Rowling has spoken out against Vladimir Putin after he defended the Harry Potter author in a speech condemning “cancel culture” in the west. The Russian president claimed the west was trying to cancel Russian culture, including the works of great composers such as Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Dmitry Shostakovich and Sergei Rachmaninov. He said the British author had also been “cancelled” over her stance in transgender debates. “They cancelled Joanne Rowling recently – children’s author, her books are published all over the world – just because she didn’t satisfy the demands of gender rights,” he said during a televised speech. He...

Denver police chief ‘very disappointed’ by new fentanyl bill by: Gabrielle Franklin Mar 24, 2022 DENVER (KDVR) — Stakeholders and community members have been asking lawmakers to beef up fentanyl laws for months. The calls grew louder after the deaths of five people in Commerce City due to the likely overdose of the drug they may not have known they were taking. Thursday, a bipartisan group of lawmakers revealed a new proposal they hope will address the overdoses that are happening more and more. The bill lawmakers are proposing seeks to hold drug dealers accountable for selling the lethal drug...

When politicians in Washington D.C. planned to infuse the economy with trillions of dollars in Wuhan coronavirus "relief funds," fiscal conservatives warned about the inevitability of widespread fraud and abuse. Once again, they were correct. A new report from the Associated Press shows "pandemic relief" money, earned by hard working taxpayers, was used for over-the-top vacations, parties and other completely unrelated expenditures. "Thanks to a sudden $140 million cash infusion, officials in Broward County, Florida, recently broke ground on a high-end hotel that will have views of the Atlantic Ocean and an 11,000-square-foot spa," the Associated Press Reports. "In New...

BOSTON (AP) — After her home flooded five times in the past year, Tilicia Owens was on edge with every impending storm and ready to leave her Detroit neighborhood behind. But then the 40-year-old quality engineer heard the city had a program that could prevent heavy rains from inundating her basement and damaging her furniture, photos and exercise equipment. The city is tapping $2.5 million in federal stimulus money as part of a $15 million effort to provide pumps and other equipment to help prevent flooding in 11 neighborhoods. Detroit has turned to the $350 billion in Coronavirus State and...

It's kind of fun watching democrats absolutely boil at the GOP questioning of Ketanji Jackson-Brown. It had everything you could ask for. Ted Cruz was pounding Dick Durbin. Cory Booker cried (again). Given the amount of democrat panties getting in a twist you'd think they never treated Brett Kavanagh like sh*t. But they did. But let's be honest here. She is going to be confirmed. She is a left wing radical. She will be a voice for criminals wjile caring little for victims. She really has no interest in the Constitution. She has no place on the Supreme Court. Ketanji...

Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., announced Friday he plans to vote to confirm Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court, praising her "exemplary" record and career and labeling her "supremely qualified" to be a justice. The centrist Democrat's support gives Jackson's nomination a major boost after four days of contentious hearings, all but assuring her historic confirmation to be the first Black woman on the high court, as long as the rest of the Democratic caucus stays on board. "After meeting with her, considering her record, and closely monitoring her testimony and questioning before the Senate Judiciary Committee this week,...

President Biden on Friday visited with U.S. troops on his first stop in Poland, commenting on the importance of their work for maintaining democracy amid the Russian invasion into Ukraine. “10, 15 years from now in terms of our organizational structures, the question is, who’s going to prevail? Are democracies going to prevail and the values we share? Or are autocracies gonna? That’s really what’s at stake. So, what you’re doing is consequential, really consequential,” Biden said to the 82nd Airborne of the United States Army stationed in Rzeszów.

Employees say Disney has become 'an increasingly uncomfortable place to work for those of us whose political and religious views are not explicitly progressive' A group of anonymous employees at The Walt Disney Company (TDWC) has spoken out in an open letter, warning the company not to take political stances that alienate some workers and parts of Disney's audience, and claiming that Disney has become "an increasingly uncomfortable place to work" for those who don't agree with "explicitly progressive" policies. LONDON (Reuters) - The early bird is getting even earlier. With climate change spurring earlier springs across much of North America, many birds are laying their eggs earlier in the year, according to a new study – adding to mounting evidence that global warming is turning wildlife habits upside down. Of 72 bird species examined around Chicago, roughly a third lay their eggs about 25 days earlier than they did a century ago, researchers report in the paper published on Friday in the Journal of Animal Ecology. Those affected include the mourning dove, American kestrel and Cooper's hawk. The scientists...

When did this happen? When did science cease to become absorbed into the minds of liberals? By default, they’re idiots, but this is different. This is now a mental defect that prevents them from determining things that are grounded; things that are true on its face. Supreme Court nominee Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson had difficulty defining what is a woman. She wouldn’t say. Her answer was that she’s not a biologist. So, she doesn’t know herself? Is her daughter a female? C’mon, judge. You know the answer. Yet, this is ‘woke’ America. It’s the supplantation of facts for feelings. This...

A majority of Americans say they don't blame President Joe Biden for high gasoline prices, but they're giving his economic leadership low marks amid fears of inflation and deep pessimism about economic conditions. About 7 in 10 Americans say the nation’s economy is in bad shape, and close to two-thirds disapprove of Biden’s handling of the economy, according to a new poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research. In addition, Americans are more likely to say his policies have hurt the economy than helped it. Yet less than half say the jump in gas prices is Biden’s...

Food banks are feeling strains from inflated prices and increased demand, while President Joe Biden says a food shortage that is “going to be real” looms. Food insecurity numbers have been on the rise since at least late Summer 2021, the Washington Post reported, citing the U.S. Census Bureau Household Pulse Survey, which compiles and releases data “on how the coronavirus pandemic has impacted people’s lives.” In early August, the survey showed that about eight percent of Americans who responded said they either “sometimes” or “often” did not have enough to eat.

Russia's defence ministry said on Friday that the first phase of its military operation in Ukraine was mostly complete and that it would focus on completely "liberating" eastern Ukraine's Donbass region. The announcement appeared to indicate that Russia may be switching to more limited goals after running into fierce Ukrainian resistance in the first month of the war

The claims of Ukrainian counteroffensives in the area surrounding Kyiv began more than a week ago. Now we have our first objective observations confirming that, yes, the Ukrainian army is on the move. And the Russians near Ukraine’s capital city could be in big trouble.
