Germany scrapped compulsory military service just over 10 years ago, but the conflict in Ukraine has reignited the debate around whether young men and women should be required to fight for their country. Conscription was introduced in Germany in 1956 with men over 18 expected to serve in the army for a year, though they could claim exemption due to moral objections. The practice was gradually wound down and finally scrapped in 2011 as part of moves to save money, and in line with Germany's traditionally cautious approach to defence as a result of its post-war guilt. But Russia's invasion...

A woman is in jail after a convenience store clerk was assaulted. Just before 2:15 a.m. Thursday, Valdosta police responded to the Circle K convenience store, located in the 1800 North Ashley Street, after a citizen called E911 and reported that the store clerk had been assaulted. When officers arrived on scene, the clerk told police that two subjects entered the store and became angry. The clerk adds that one of the subjects, later identified as 31-year-old Shatercia Gibbs, began throwing different items at the clerk while damaging the store. The investigation also showed Gibbs physically assaulted the clerk...

As former President Donald Trump sought to lay blame for his 2020 election loss, Georgia’s secretary of state emerged as one of his main targets. Now, with a Trump-endorsed challenger in the Republican primary, Brad Raffensperger is fighting to keep his job. The secretary of state emerged from relative obscurity into the national spotlight when he insisted that Georgia’s election had been accurate and secure, and refused to bend to pressure from Trump to overturn Joe Biden’s victory in the state. Raffensperger says he’s running for reelection based on his record of integrity as a principled conservative. “I’ve shown that...

Viewers of the progressive news cable channel MSNBC melted down on social media Tuesday after anchor Chuck Todd said that President Joe Biden didn't have a "loyal fanbase." Social media erupted with anger and frustration when Todd made the comments on his show "Meet the Press Daily" ahead of Biden's first State of the Union speech in Congress. "Chuck is an uninformed idiot. Just because 81 million of us don’t wear T-shirts, wrap up our cars in banners, and build golden idols, doesn’t mean we aren’t out there," replied one angry Twitter user. "Chuck Todd decides to act like an...

In U.S. Navy Seals 1-26 v. Biden, (5th Cir., Feb. 28, 2022), the U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals refused to grant the Navy a partial stay of an injunction issued by a Texas federal district court protecting 35 special warfare personnel who object on religious grounds to complying with the military's COVID vaccine mandate. The court said in part: Defendants have not demonstrated “paramount interests” that justify vaccinating these 35 Plaintiffs against COVID-19 in violation of their religious beliefs. They insist that “given the small units and remote locations in which special-operations forces typically operate, military commanders have determined...

Russian soldiers taking part in the invasion of Ukraine are in 'complete disarray', according to voice recordings obtained by a British intelligence company. The intercepted radio messages indicate that troops are refusing to obey central command orders to shell Ukrainian towns and are complaining about running out of supplies of food and fuel. The recordings are among around 24 hours of material obtained by intelligence firm ShadowBreak since the invasion of Ukraine began last week. In one of the eavesdropped conversations, listened to by The Telegraph, a soldier reportedly sounds as though he is crying. In another, a soldier is...

The U.S. Supreme Court has refused to hear an appeal from a Christian college in Massachusetts that tried to use a ministerial exception to end a lawsuit by a former professor whom lower courts ruled could sue for alleged discrimination. In an orders list released Monday, the Supreme Court denied a petition for a writ of certiorari from Gordon College to hear the appeal centered on allowing the school to use the “ministerial exception” to dismiss a lawsuit filed by a former associate professor Margaret DeWeese-Boyd. Gordon College was sued by DeWeese-Boyd in 2017 over its refusal to promote her,...

Concerned about 'trad' seminariansVideoTRANSCRIPTIt's been reported Pope Francis will soon authorize a document addressing the lack of formation in seminaries. Church Militant's Aidan O'Connor discusses how newly ordained priests favoring the Traditional Latin Mass are in the crosshairs. Pope Francis is "concerned about [the] formation" of many priests who favor the Traditional Latin Mass over the Mass of 1970. Archbishop Arthur Roche made the statement in an interview with The Tablet on Thursday. He's the new head of the Vatican office overseeing the Mass and the sacraments. Roche claims the formation of seminarians has been "very lacking" and that his...

The RINOs, Warmongers, and Fake News continue to blatantly lie and misrepresent my remarks on Putin because they know this terrible war being waged against Ukraine would have never happened under my watch. They did absolutely nothing as Putin declared much of Ukraine an “independent territory.” There should be no war waging now in Ukraine, and it is terrible for humanity that Biden, NATO, and the West have failed so terribly in allowing it to start. Instead of showing strength and toughness, they declared the Global Warming Hoax as the #1 threat to global security, killed American Energy Independence, and...

Senate GOP Leader Mitch McConnell on Tuesday rebutted Florida Sen. Rick Scott's plan "to rescue America," trying to keep attention on Republicans' perceived failures of the Biden administration as the party looks to take back the Senate this year. Scott, the chairman of the National Republican Senate Committee, released an 11-point plan last week offering a range of fiscally conservative and Trumpian proposals, including ending imports from China, cutting the federal government workforce by 25% and building a wall on the US-Mexico border and naming it after former President Donald Trump.

…The first six days have confounded those expectations and instead seen Moscow act far more delicately with its air power, so much so that U.S. officials can't exactly explain what's driving Russia's apparent risk-adverse behavior. … David Deptula, a retired U.S. Air Force three-star general who once commanded the no-fly zone over northern Iraq, said he was surprised that Russia didn't work harder to establish air dominance from the start.

Looking ahead to November's general election this year should be on everyone's mind. Like me, I figure few if anyone will be watching the State of the Union fiasco. Yet, there is today's Texas primary going on. The polls close soon in Texas and I am curious as to how things have gone. Was the turn out good? It should have been. Or, was it normal? If it was normal, then I'm highly disappointed, because with all that is happening I would expect to see over 75% of all registered Republicans to be casting votes so we can cull the...
