Bail was set Sunday at $50,000 for Terri Collins, 21, of the 100 block of West 110th Street, according to a news release from the DuPage County state's attorney's office. Collins is charged with felony burglary and felony retail theft. Authorities allege that around 2:54 p.m. Saturday, Collins and several other people entered the store and met with two men in the store. They all went to a coat section, cut security wires off 14 Moncler brand...

Researchers tracked more than 100,000 COVID-19 patients for up to a year A massive analysis of health records has revealed recovered COVID-19 patients are at a significantly higher risk of cardiovascular complications in the year following an acute infection. The new findings, published in Nature Medicine, showed COVID-19 survivors were 55 percent more likely to experience a serious cardiovascular event after recovering. “We wanted to build upon our past research on COVID’s long-term effects by taking a closer look at what’s happening in people’s hearts,” explained Ziyad Al-Aly, senior author on the new study from Washington University. “What we’re seeing...

President Joe Biden’s coronavirus task force on Wednesday side-stepped decisions by Democrat governors to lift mask mandates across the country, recommending most Americans remain masked in public indoor settings. “At this time we continue to recommend masking in areas of high and substantial transmission,” Centers for Disease Control Dr. Rochelle Walensky stated during a press briefing. “That’s most of the country right now.”

Top U.S. House conservatives have introduced a legislative proposal to formally sanction thousands of Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials, including Chinese dictator Xi Jinping and his entire family, Breitbart News has learned exclusively. Titled the “Stop CCP Act,” McClain’s bill would level debilitating sanctions on CCP officials, including blocking them from getting visas for U.S. travel and financial sanctions blocking them from using or accessing certain assets. It would sanction every member of the CCP’s “National Congress,” the CCP’s highest governmental body. The National Congress of the CCP holds sessions every five years with the most senior members of the...

Israeli scientists said they found "striking" differences in the chances of getting seriously ill from COVID-19 when they compared patients who had sufficient vitamin D levels prior to contracting the disease, with those who didn't. A study published Thursday in research journal PLOS One found that about half of people who were vitamin D deficient before getting COVID-19 developed severe illness, compared to less than 10 percent of people who had sufficient levels of the vitamin in their blood. We know vitamin D is vital for bone health, but its role in protecting against severe COVID-19 is less-well established. The...

Beware, woke mobsters coming after Joe Rogan. In the process, you could end up damaging President Joe Biden, as well. As you may have heard, the latest kerfuffle around Rogan, the popular Spotify podcast host, involves episodes where he repeated the N-word contextually in previous episodes of his podcast — not as a slur, but either in quotes or as a discussion about the word itself. This isn’t the real reason anyone is hunting Rogan, however. His real crime is that he dared to question the left-imposed consensus on a number of issues, particularly COVID-19. (At The Western Journal, we...

Northrop Grumman, in partnership with the University of Central Florida (UCF), will develop an Operator and Context Adaptive Reasoning Intuitive Assistant (OCARINA) that will support UH-60 Blackhawk pilots, who fly with both visual and instrumented flight, which varies with weather, time of day and other environmental factors. “The goal...

I did not grow up watching the Super Bowl. The closest thing my home state of Mississippi has to a professional football team is the Saints, but my dad and grandfather were far too busy cussing at the TV while watching Mississippi State lose to pay attention to any of that. Besides, the Super Bowl always falls on a Sunday—the Lord’s day—and it’s hard to watch a game while you’re in church. Church Sunday and Super Bowl Sunday feel at odds on at least three levels: spiritually, aesthetically, and culinarily. Shouting obscenities at the TV while watching men give each...

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker is set to announce a plan to roll back indoor mask requirements this afternoon. Pritzker is scheduled to give an update at 2 p.m. Wednesday on COVID-19. He is expected to announce a plan to roll back mask requirements for most indoor settings. "The intention is to lift the mask mandate in indoor locations by Feb. 28," said Pritzker at an unrelated press conference Wednesday morning. Masks will still be required in some settings, including "sensitive locations such as K-12 schools," according to Pritzker. New York is expected to announce its plan for dropping indoor mask...

Several thousand motorists plan to rally Paris by this weekend to demonstrate against government policy and in particular against the vaccination pass. The mobilization started from social networks, on Faecbook and Telegram groups. Departing from Bayonee, Nice, Strasbourg or even Cherbourg, motorists are preparing to take the road to reach Paris, in a "freedom convoy'. A citizen movement, inspired by the action of Canadian truckers, which aims to mobilize against government policy and in particular against the vaccination pass....

“He opened His mouth and began to teach them” (Matthew 5:2). Because of the Sermon on the Mount’s seemingly impossible demands and behavioral standards that are counter to everything the world practices and holds dear, many Christians have taught that the Sermon applies only to the millennial age. If it were not just for a future kingdom era, the argument goes, Jesus would not have commanded believers to be perfect, just as their “heavenly Father is perfect” (Matt. 5:48). But such an argument is invalid, for a number of reasons. First, and most obvious, the body of Jesus’ sermon nowhere...

God wants us to know that no matter how difficult things may get for us, he will sustain all who trust in him by the power of his still, small voice, speaking to our inner man daily. This is confirmed by the prophet Isaiah. You have to understand, Isaiah delivered this word to Israel in the very worst of times. The nation was under judgment and in absolute ruin with everything breaking down. Isaiah told Israel’s leaders, “Turn to the Lord now!”, but they wouldn’t listen. They decided they would turn to Egypt to deliver them. They thought they could...

This spearfisherman should consider himself lucky he's alive and approaching full recovery after an arrow went through his own head. According to the South Coast Herald, a man has survived and is in good spirits after impaling his own head with a spearfishing arrow. The speargun went off during an accident and was not fired by the man, but led to a stint in the hospital. Connie Hallowell, a pastor from Umkomaas, South Africa, was diving in Scottburgh, a coastal town located outside of Durban. In an interview with East Coast Radio, he explained what led to the incident. "For...

White House COVID-19 adviser Anthony Fauci said the United States is past the “full-blown” COVID-19 pandemic phase as more and more officials suggest an end to mandates and rules. Speaking with the Financial Times, Fauci said since there is no way to fully eliminate COVID-19, caused by the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus, “we are looking at a time when we have enough people vaccinated and enough people with protection from previous infection that the COVID restrictions will soon be a thing of the past.” Fauci’s reference to prior infection, known as “natural immunity,” is notable because, for months, Fauci...

Spain’s Health Ministry on Tuesday recommended that people who haven’t been vaccinated against Covid-19 or didn't complete their vaccination due to potential allergic reactions or other side effects from the vaccines available until now, instead have the newly approved Novavax inoculation. Spain’s Public Health Commission has agreed to allocate the new Novavax vaccine to “people who had not yet been able to get vaccinated or who have received an incomplete vaccination due to allergies to any of the components of the other available vaccines, or due to medical advice”. Novavax will therefore be aimed at over-18s with severe immunosuppression whose...
