Beverly Yi, 19, was born in the U.S.A. but a few years ago decided to renounce her American citizenship and moved to China to make her debut as a Chinese figure skater. She changed her name to a Zhu Yi and began appearing in competitions in the communist nation. Yi’s debut was bad enough, but China’s ardent Olympics fans were sparked to anger all over again on Monday when Zhu Yi fell...

Far-left Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO), who spent thousands on her own private security last year, continues to champion the “Defund the Police” movement, despite its floundering popularity among Democrats. “My colleagues keep telling us to wait. They keep telling us defunding the police and investing in communities won’t work,” the congresswoman tweeted. “Well their policies keep ending up with police murdering Black people. Enough patronizing. Listen to the movements that are telling you how to save lives.” Bush’s tweet follows a comment from President Joe Biden slamming the “Defund the Police” movement and blaming guns from the crime wave in...

This was supposed to be the big coming-out party of Chairman-for-life Xi with his 100-year-old Communist Party. Instead, it’s turning out to be a massive faceplant and it’s hurting both NBC and the game’s advertisers. for an Olympics Even Putin can’t be bothered to stay awake for the ‘excitement’ of it all.China’s Wuhan Wheezer boomeranged just in time for many Olympic hopefuls to find themselves quarantined in horrible conditions. By comparison, photos of the food visiting athletes have been given there make Michelle Obama’s nightmarish lunch program look like it had been designed by Jamie Oliver. But conditions in isolation are...

Arizona State Representative Mark Finchem has introduced HCR 2033, which calls for the elections of Maricopa, Pima and Yuma Counties to be set aside and ultimately decertified based on “clear and convincing evidence that the elections in those counties were irredeemably compromised.” “The circumstances surrounding these elections undermine voter confidence in the election system, moreover, they ultimately translate into doubts about election integrity,” Finchem said in a statement. Finchem — who is a candidate for Arizona Secretary of State — has been a staunch supporter of election integrity, namely the Maricopa County audit. The Marciopa audit previously unearthed numerous election irregularities,...

Masking is a divisive issue, however, at the end of the day, it is a scientific question. Pre-pandemic, community masking was discouraged because the pre-existing evidence was negative. This is why Fauci was critical of it in early March 2020 on 60 minutes. In the pandemic, masking has become a marker of politics. Good liberals wear them and bad conservatives don’t. As a scientist stuck in the middle, with my colleagues J. Darrow and I. Liu, we performed an umbrella review of this topic. We found very poor quality data, insufficient to support community masking, particularly for years on end....

HERE’S A MESSAGE for the trolls who have been posting vicious comments about Justin Trudeau testing positive for COVID-19: get a life. What kind of person could be so callous as to wish bad things on another human being who has contracted a potentially life-threatening virus? I’m not talking about nasties from the other side of the country, either, though I’m sure there are plenty of those. No, I’m talking about the mean-spirited critics here in our own town and region who have been posting comments such as, “who cares?” and “what a joke” and “the little baby,” and “coward.”...

[Catholic Caucus] Sub Petro? Marx, Hollerich, and the 'synodal path'Delegates to the German “synodal way” voted last week in favor of a document calling for liturgical blessings of same-sex couples and the sacramental ordination of women. The day before, a Luxembourg cardinal called for a “fundamental revision of doctrine” on homosexuality. And Germany’s most prominent cardinal, on the same day, gave the controversial view that permitting married men to become priests might ameliorate the sexual abuse crisis.Of course, it seems certain that the Church will not adopt the positions called for by the synodal path and the cardinals in question....

@ChadPergram A) From the pool. GOP ME Sen Collins on RNC censuring Cheney/Kinzinger: Those who were assaulted police officers, broke windows and breached the capitol we're not engaged in legitimate political discourse, and to say otherwise is absurd. B) Collins: The GOP started this year with a decided advantage on the issues that will determine the outcome of the fall elections. C) Collins: But every moment that is spent relitigating a lost election or defending those who have been convicted of criminal behavior moves us further away from the goal of victory this fall.
