The Virginia Supreme Court rejected a challenge to Gov. Glenn Youngkin's executive order allowing parents to opt out of school mask mandates Monday, handing the governor a major legal victory. The court's ruling dismissed a lawsuit filed by a group of parents in Chesapeake, Virginia, who had sued the governor over his Day One executive order allowing parents to opt their children out of school mask mandates, saying the governor was obligated by state law to mandate them. The court ruled Youngkin had no obligation to mandate masks in schools and therefore could not be sued.

SiriusXM PGA Tour host Mark Lye made inappropriate comments about the WNBA on the air Saturday and was fired by the end of the weekend. “You know the LPGA Tour, to me, is a completely different tour than it was 10 years ago,” Lye said Saturday on PGA Tour Radio. “You couldn’t pay me to watch. You really couldn’t, because I couldn’t relate at all. It’s kind of like, if you were a basketball player, and I’m not trashing anybody, please don’t take it the wrong way. “I saw some highlights of ladies’ basketball. Man. Is there a gun in...

Long-term paracetamol use could increase the risk of heart disease and strokes in people with high blood pressure, a study suggests. Patients who have a long-term prescription for the painkiller, usually used for the treatment of chronic pain, should opt for the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible time, researchers say. Paracetamol was often suggested as a safer alternative to another class of painkillers called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), which are known to increase blood pressure and risk of heart disease. In the latest study, 110 patients with a history of high blood pressure were prescribed one gram of...

“Large crowds followed Him from Galilee and the Decapolis and Jerusalem and Judea and from beyond Jordan” (Matthew 4:25). The healing miracles of Jesus accomplished things that surpassed and were far more significant than the obvious, immediate benefit to those healed. First, they demonstrated He was the Son of God, since no mere man could do such feats. Jesus later instructed Philip and the other disciples, “Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me; otherwise believe because of the works themselves” (John 14:11). Second, the marvelous healings revealed that God, through Christ, was and...

A New Jersey police chief was spotted sporting a “Let’s Go Brandon” holiday sweater in a Facebook post since removed but obtained by Daily Beast. Hamilton Police Chief Gregory Ciambrone is seen in the photograph supposedly posted by other members of the police department from an “ugly sweater party”, on Dec. 5, according to the outlet. The sweater also features an embroidered image of former President Donald Trump. “Let’s Go Brandon” is the so-called battle cry of Trump loyalists that came into use after NBC reporter Kelli Stavast incorrectly stated the chant of "F—k Joe Biden" was "Let's go, Brandon"...

New research has found that an imprinted gene associated with development of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is switched on in mice who nurse from mothers with metabolic syndrome, even when those mice are not biologically related. The finding supports the hypothesis that imprinted genes play important roles in this metabolic disease, and could lead to the development of preventative treatments. NAFLD is a condition where excess fat builds up in liver tissue for reasons unrelated to alcohol consumption. If untreated, the excess fat can lead to inflammation, scarring and increased risk of liver cancer. The incidence of NAFLD is...

When Prohibition finally went into effect on January 16, 1920, those who owned American vineyards for the sole purpose of turning those grapes into wine faced a dilemma: tear up the vines and plant something else, or try and find a way to still make a profit from the grapes with the hope that ban on booze didn’t last very long. This conundrum was especially felt among the vintners of the Napa Valley, who by 1920 were already making a good portion of America’s wine. Here was the problem: if these winemakers tore up their vines in search of other...

One of the Republican challengers to incumbent Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp dropped out of the race Monday, a move that could help clear the way for Donald Trump-backed challenger David Perdue in Georgia's GOP primary. Vernon Jones, a Democrat who switched parties as part of full-throated backing of the former president, said Monday that he will run for Congress instead. However, Jones did not immediately say which of Georgia's 14 congressional seats he will seek. Debbie Dooley, a Republican activist and top supporter of Jones, said she expects him to run in the 10th District, where a crowded Republican field...

Monday, Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg responded to Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) maintaining that President Joe Biden’s so-called “Build Back Better” agenda was dead. Several states across the country are considering lifting mask mandates in schools in an attempt to return to some semblance of normalcy. Experts say it is too soon to end mask mandates in schools because vaccination rates are not high enough yet among the school-age population and new cases are still being reported. "It is not safe at this time for schools to rescind mask mandates [because] even though we do have decent levels of vaccination in the older age groups, as populations get younger, the proportion who are vaccinated gets lower," Dr. Mercedes Carnethon told ABC News. Currently, 22.6%...

Democratic strategist James Carville cursed out unvaccinated individuals on his podcast last week, saying anyone without a vaccine was a "piece of ----" and he wanted to punch them in the face. On Thursday's "Politics War Room with James Carville & Al Hunt," Carville and Hunt took a listener question wondering why President Biden would not pass a bill that bars unvaccinated citizens from interstate travel. "I wouldn’t be against that at all. I’d be for it actually, as long as you put ‘or testing.’ Before you get on a plane or bus or interstate train, you want to be...
