One of the Republican challengers to incumbent Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp dropped out of the race Monday, a move that could help clear the way for Donald Trump-backed challenger David Perdue in Georgia's GOP primary.
Vernon Jones, a Democrat who switched parties as part of full-throated backing of the former president, said Monday that he will run for Congress instead. However, Jones did not immediately say which of Georgia's 14 congressional seats he will seek.
Debbie Dooley, a Republican activist and top supporter of Jones, said she expects him to run in the 10th District, where a crowded Republican field is seeking to replace incumbent U.S. Rep Jody Hice. Hice is running to become Georgia's secretary of state with Trump's backing, part of a slate of Trump-endorsed candidates in the state.
Jones had met with Trump in Florida in late January, cryptically tweeting that “America First is alive and well. Not divided, but more united than ever. More to come.” The switch helps Trump defeat Kemp, who has drawn Trump’s scorn for not backing his plan to overturn President Joe Biden’s victory in Georgia. Trump spend months imploring Perdue to run after Trump vowed to deny Kemp a second term.

Vernon would have probably made a good Gov but I respect and understand why he has made the move to drop out as he has.
There’s a good reason to it. He’s not disparaging Trump and did as PDJT “asked” for Perdue to finally one on one vs RINO Kemp. I dont trust party-switchers BTW.

With Jones out as a compromise candidate, Kemp and Perdue need to avoid personal attacks and focus on the issues. And And Trump would create much goodwill by discouraging circular firing squads in Georgia.

Voting those scumbags out of office is not enough. There needs to be much, much more sever punishment. They will not be allowed to simply retire into the sunset. Nope. Much more pain is coming their way.
Why should they avoid personal attacks? Kemp is a traitor and corrupt politician to the core. Perdue, a classic modern republican, who talks a good talk but does nothing. He did nothing while he was senator and after he was defeated under suspicious conditions.
I believe Trump was once a democrat.
He was a phony. People saw through the act. Thats why Trump wouldn’t endorce him.
I normally agree with you observation about party switchers but the Democratic Party has moved so far to the left that it has driven out working class men and women who have voted Demorat since grama and granpa told them how FDR got the country out of the Great Depression.
That FDR really did not would be difficult to convince people who were teenagers or young adults in 1933 when the unemployment rate reached 25%.
