SiriusXM PGA Tour host Mark Lye made inappropriate comments about the WNBA on the air Saturday and was fired by the end of the weekend.
“You know the LPGA Tour, to me, is a completely different tour than it was 10 years ago,” Lye said Saturday on PGA Tour Radio. “You couldn’t pay me to watch. You really couldn’t, because I couldn’t relate at all. It’s kind of like, if you were a basketball player, and I’m not trashing anybody, please don’t take it the wrong way.
“I saw some highlights of ladies’ basketball. Man. Is there a gun in the house? I’ll shoot myself [before] I watch that.”

His problem is he called it “ladies basketball” when he criticized it. If he had called it “WNBA” he could save his career by saying: “Oh. I thought the W meant White NBA because the white players are awful.”
He got fired for saying he’d shoot himself if he had to watch women’s basketball? Geez, woke people gone crazy!

I think it’s more likely the comment on the LPGA got him ashcanned - sounds like there are too many Koreans for his liking.

Reminds me of the announcer some years ago who commented the LPGA was a bunch of lesbians. He was gone within the hour.

What the hell is wrong with that? I would shoot myself too before watching the WNBA. What a joke!
Betcha if he made the same exact remark about, say, NASCAR, it would’ve gone unpunished. Would barely raise an eyebrow. It’s all about the (protected) target.
