CLA canceled in-person classes Tuesday after a former lecturer and postdoctoral fellow sent a video referencing a mass shooting and an 800-page manifesto with “specific threats” to members of the university’s philosophy department Monday. Several emails from department leaders and obtained by The Times inform students and faculty that Matthew Harris made threats toward the philosophy department and people in it. In some of the emails, sent over the course of Monday evening, department heads recommend moving to virtual learning, and multiple instructors did so, alerting students that in-person classes would be canceled. A campus alert sent shortly after midnight...

Dang, I'm usually on top of the news but I missed seeing this one. If this has been posted please remove. According to an article written by former U.S. Representative Bob Barr, hidden away in the recently passed infrastructure bill, the very one I warned before would negatively impact drivers across the country if it were to pass, is a measure to install vehicle kill switches into every new car, truck, and SUV sold in this country. The regulation likely won’t be enforced for five years, so maybe there’s time to do something about this. As we’ve seen both in...

Joe Biden has a habit of nominating partisan hack politicians for jobs for which they are entirely unqualified. I am loath to think of even one who has been a success but there have been lots of failures. Xavier Becerra and Alejandro Mayorkas are two of these abysmal failures. It's gotten so bad that even the puppet masters in the White House are getting bugged by it. Xavier BecerraWhite House officials have grown so frustrated with top health official Xavier Becerra as the pandemic rages on that they have openly mused about who might be better in the job, although...

As one of the most prolific snipers of the Vietnam War, Chuck Mawhinney was a lethal sharpshooter who racked up the most confirmed kills in the history of the United States Marine Corps and the second-most confirmed kills of any American soldier in the country’s history. In one incident alone, Mawhinney had 16 confirmed kills in a mere 30 seconds — all of them headshots.

The façade that has been built to towering heights around the concept of government that’s taken over a hundred years to build into a solid, impervious wall, is starting to crack. The theory is that public servants, a title they’ve been desperate to shed for decades, do the work that those busy making a living and paying taxes can’t or won’t do suggests that they work at the pleasure of private citizens and businesses. Since about the turn of the 20th Century, that hasn’t been the case. Slowly, these clerks and such that have traditionally been in place explain the...

NEW ORLEANS — We might have a better idea of where the mysterious boom came from Tuesday night. People all across the city, and even beyond, reported heard a loud "boom" that even shook some homes, but no one has been able to answer what it was. While we cannot confirm the exact cause, a data analyst believes he knows the general area it came from. Using about six surveillance videos from all across the city, he calculated how long it took the sound to reach each person's home. All of his findings intersected in one spot. "I think it...

Residents from Algiers to the Gentilly neighborhoods say they heard what sounded like an explosion. Residents in the Marigny and Bywater areas told the Times-Picayune | New Orleans Advocate that the explosion shook their homes around 11:15 p.m. The New Orleans police and the fire department said they received several calls reporting the explosion, but neither department has confirmed a cause. Some residents speculated that the sonic boom could have been caused by a meteorite crashing into earth. A similar event was reported in Pennsylvania on New Year's Day.

On February 1, 2020 had somebody asked you to pick the country whose citizens would mount a mass protest against government tyranny that would spark a worldwide movement, and which country would zoom from freedom to tyranny in something like zero to sixty in three seconds,Note: you can’t play this as it has, of course, been taken down.I’ll bet your pre-lockdown answers would not have been, respectively, Canada and Australia. The new rule was introduced by the Western Australia government, not the supermarket chainNote bene: Australia’s dictates have nothing to do with “health.” This mechanism is intended to reward compliance and punish...

Watching half of our fellow Americans accept and engage in such irrational behavior (not to mention sometimes hysterically enforce it, as myriad social media videos attest) not only depresses the rest of us; it frightens us. That more than half of our country willingly obeys completely irrational orders raises the question: What irrational orders from the state would they not obey?

Just got a robo-call that for the usual credit card phishing scam (push one to speak to a human). Hung up of course. But the new wrinkle is it identified itself as "Alexa" and had a voice to match. I guess they think people will be more responsive to Alexa than to some generic sexy voice?

In one of the recordings, which resurfaced on social media after it was posted by conservative commentator and Human Events editor Jack Posobiec, the host of "The Mehdi Hasan Show" on MSNBC compared non-Muslims and atheists to “cattle” and included “homosexuals” in a long list of abhorrent behaviors and and categories that he claims are transgressive of Islam including pedophilia and bestiality. A man with local ties died Jan. 28 after doctors say his second COVID vaccine caused an immune response that led to the development of an autoimmune disease. Brandon Pollet, 33, was born and raised in LaPlace and lived in St. Charles Parish for 10 years before moving to Ponchatoula. “Brandon had no prior medical history,” Brandon’s wife Jessica Pollet said. “After his second Pfizer vaccine, Brandon developed a headache right away then fever 48 hours after.” His first hospitalization was Oct. 21 – Nov. 7. “He was worked up for hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis, or HLH, but it was ruled out...

My first post in this three-part series, about how the evil that surrounds us has manifested, was about the elite global technocrat class and their distance from the people whose lives they may crush; I noted too their lack of belief in, or loyalty to, the nation-state. Added to this toxic mix, I argued, is the certainty of this class of people that they know best about your life. I made the case in that essay that surrounding us now was a metaphysical, seemingly a Satanic, level of evil. I am seeking to explain in this series of essays, how...

Source: Townhall Media/Julio RosasA video showing an altercation between Border Patrol agents and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) leadership in Laredo, Texas, is making rounds on social media. The interaction was seen as unprecedented, and the optics were disastrous for DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz. This video, however, is just the tip of the iceberg. Spats among frontline workers and Biden’s DHS leadership are a widespread, recurring pattern with no end in sight. The latest video from Laredo reveals a major problem: The employees of the nation’s largest federal law enforcement agency do not have...
