Residents from Algiers to the Gentilly neighborhoods say they heard what sounded like an explosion. Residents in the Marigny and Bywater areas told the Times-Picayune | New Orleans Advocate that the explosion shook their homes around 11:15 p.m. The New Orleans police and the fire department said they received several calls reporting the explosion, but neither department has confirmed a cause.
Some residents speculated that the sonic boom could have been caused by a meteorite crashing into earth. A similar event was reported in Pennsylvania on New Year's Day.

The God of Global Warming farted
That was just me. Had Cajun last night. Sorry.
Gulf of Mexico collapsing? space junk reentering earth’s atmosphere? Or a car backfiring?
A ‘few’ calls?
Yawn.
Teenager got the UFOs out drag racing again.
I just could not hold that gas, acquired from eating beans, back any longer. Sorry about that folks. I’m amazed that the noise traveled 90 miles though. ๐
Sorry.... that was me........we had Mexican last night............
This has been happening here in Northern CA also. I live right next to Beale AFB. It is illegal for military planes to break the sound barrier but I think Biden’s AF has been ignoring that for some mysterious reason.
SR77 (VTOL) Super Blackbird testing launching off an oil platform in the Gulf and then streching its legs.
OK, no. If they heard it and can’t find the meteorite, then they are lying. You see a meteorite. Its very bright in the night sky. In fact its very bright in the day. Its also very hot. It lands somewhere. If people only hear it locally then it would have landed locally. If it went by, others in other places would hear it.
This is not a real answer to the cause of the boom. But clearly they don’t know or just aren’t saying.
Just somebody blowin’ up levees.
I remember a time when many cities across the Nation reported an unusual boom during the night. The next day the media announced that an SR-71 made a low pass over the Nation as part of a heating test.
“It is illegal for military planes to break the sound barrier “
How many divisions do the complaining locals have? Lol
The Air Force just denies it, and who will say ‘nay?’
Xiden fill his drawers again?
Pre-earth quake/shifting plates sound.
Somebody is throwing Rods of God at the Earth.
We set off around 7 -10 packs of C4 a buddy had appropriated from an armory where he was stationed in the late 70s
In the pearl river swamps around a half mile from jackson country club in mississippi
Man it was such a boom everybody within a couple miles was ringing the police and carrying on
Cracked some windows at the club
We ran for our old Jimmy to get out of the Averys beach on the Pearl area fast as possible....we were a good half mile closest dwelling
We were about 100 yards back ...in low undergrowth large Deep South river bottom hardwoods
We were absolutely shocked by the magnitude and knew immediately it was a bit much
..
My pal had set it off with cord, caps amd a long fuse
That huge oak..made six foot diameter was destroyed and lifted up in the air quite a ways
We felt a very strong ground blast ......not enough to knock us down but pushed us back
Late last year here in Illinois we had a string of loud booms later confirmed as AF jets breaking the sound barrier some 90 miles from my location.
