Neil Young (76), better known as “and Young,” was the first. A few days later, there were rumors that Barry Manilow (78) followed, but he appeared to deny them via Twitter on Friday afternoon. The same day, before the Denny’s early bird special expired, Peter Frampton (71) appears to have joined “and Young’s” tenuous movement. Let’s call it, “Boomers for Censorship.” If you’re not aware, earlier this week, “and Young” threatened to remove his music catalogue from Spotify if the corporate media behemoth did not remove the “Joe Rogan Experience” podcast from its platform. He gave Spotify an ultimatum, ‘It’s...

I first saw Olavo de Carvalho years ago on a program called Update Brazil, which covered the global fight against communism. The video is gone now, the whole channel purged by YouTube. The host was Allan dos Santos, an excellent anti-communist journalist who is now being persecuted and blacklisted by Brazil's far-left Supreme Court. Also on the show were the brilliant American analysts, Jeff Nyquist and Diana West. The fourth person was the only one I didn't recognize. An old and playful Brazilian man. He seemed quirky. Maybe a blogger and friend of Allan's. It was actually Olavo de Carvalho,...

Georgetown University on Thursday condemned one of its own law professors for his "appalling" criticism of President Joe Biden's pledge to nominate a black woman to the Supreme Court. In an email to the entire law school, William Treanor, dean of the law school, said faculty member Ilya Shapiro's comments regarding Biden's pledge to base his nomination decision on race were "at odds with everything" the law school stands for and were "damaging to the culture of equity and inclusion that Georgetown Law is building every day." Treanor criticized Shapiro for using "demeaning language" that he characterized as "appalling." Shapiro,...

The French Senate has voted in favour of banning the wearing of hijabs in sports competitions, arguing that neutrality is a requirement on the field of play. The French upper legislative house voted late on Tuesday in favour of amending a proposed law stipulating that the wearing “of conspicuous religious symbols is prohibited” to take part in events and competitions organised by sports federations. In their text, senators clearly said the amendment aims at banning “the wearing of the veil in sports competitions”. They added that headscarves can put at risk the safety of athletes wearing them when they practise...

The mayor of Hyattsville, Maryland, which is located just outside of Washington, DC, is dead at the age of 44. Police are calling his death a "suicide," but MTO News spoke with a family member and a friend who think that the death deserves further investigation. “It is with great sadness that we report that our beloved Hyattsville Mayor Kevin Ward passed away yesterday, January 25, from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound,” a post on the official website for Hyattsville said on Wednesday. “Mayor Ward was a valued and trusted leader and a fierce advocate for all the people of...

Tensions rose again Friday between Border Patrol leadership and agents over President Joe Biden's policies on illegal immigration and protecting the U.S.-Mexico border. The fresh footage shows Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz in Laredo, Texas, responding to agents accusing Biden administration leaders of hampering their ability to do their jobs and keep people safe....the claims that the policies don't match the rhetoric. One appeared to complain about the release of criminals into the country. “For evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing. That’s exactly what’s happening here," the person added. "Good men are doing nothing. You’re allowing...

WARNING DISTRESSING CONTENT A 20-year-old mother-of-one was gang raped and tortured before she was dragged through a jeering crowd that attacked her. Police arrested 11 people, including nine women and minors, after the horrific scenes on Wednesday in Delhi, India. The woman was reportedly abducted from her home by four men and raped. Her head was shaved and her face blackened with soot before she was paraded on foot as the crowd jeered her. The gang rape was allegedly an act of revenge by the family of a teenage boy who took his own life last November after the woman,...

Trudeau, in perhaps his meanest public statement to date, scorned them. He dismissed and derogated their motives. He gave the dismissal in his best “I’m-a-real-leader,” determined voice. His “I-really-mean-it-this-time” voice. He described them as “a small fringe minority.” A Canadian is a Canadian is a Canadian, someone once said. But this “small fringe minority” can’t be Canadians. They have “unacceptable views.” “Unacceptable views?” Are we in China now? ... That statement of his made me genuinely wonder: have those who rule us forgotten the basis of their rule? The leaders of a democracy do not have “excommunicatory” competence. They do...

Joni Mitchell announced Friday that she will join her friend Neil Young in pulling her music off of Spotify. Mitchell, 78, said in a statement posted to her website, “I’ve decided to remove all my music from Spotify. Irresponsible people are spreading lies that are costing people their lives. I stand in solidarity with Neil Young and the global scientific and medical communities on this issue.” Mitchell, who like Young survived polio as a child, also linked to an open letter signed by hundreds of doctors and medical professionals who said that Spotify’s top podcast, “The Joe Rogan Experience,” promotes...

The retirement of Supreme Court Associate Justice Stephen Breyer gives President Biden his first opportunity to put his imprint on that august body. Without hesitation, Biden promised to appoint a black woman to the vacancy, saying "it's long overdue that a buxom person of color joined our highest court." Considering that Sen. Biden (D-Del) vilified current Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas when he was nominated by the First President Bush in 1991 and later filibustered the nomination of Judge Janice Rogers Brown to the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia by the younger President Bush in...

A huge convoy of Canadian truck drivers arrived in Ottawa on Friday night ahead of a planned protest at the weekend against vaccine mandates for drivers. Since January 15, all Canadian truck drivers who are unvaccinated must take a COVID-19 test and quarantine when driving back from the United States. They are not allowed into the U.S. unless they are vaccinated, and American drivers are not allowed into Canada unless they show their certificate. American drivers returning to the U.S., however, do not need to take a test and quarantine. Justin Trudeau, the Canadian prime minister, has dismissed the protest...

Israel has always been the most important country to judge the mRNA Covid vaccines. Why?It has nearly total adult vaccine coverage. Efforts to blame "the unvaccinated” for whatever is happening won’t hold. Israel has good data - far more complete and up-to-date than American figures. And it vaccinates quickly, so whatever impact the vaccines are having rolls through the population (and the data) quickly. But most of all, Israel matters because Israel was first. It mass vaccinated with Pfizer’s mRNA first and it boosted first. And human biology is the same everywhere. So what happens in Israel happens in all the other mRNA...

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va.—Refusal to wear a mask in school would result in immediate suspension, effective Feb. 2, the first day after the long weekend, Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) told unmasked students on Friday afternoon. In a video The Epoch Times reviewed, William Shipp, principal of Woodgrove High School, spoke at about 3:45 p.m. on Friday to unmasked students kept in the auxiliary gym. “You have all chosen not to wear a mask this week. Essentially, that is just defiant of the rules Loudoun County Public Schools have put up,” said Shipp. He told the students that they would face...

Several charity auditors have expressed concern over how Black Lives Matter’s $60 million in donations was managed after it emerged that some people announced as the organization’s leaders never actually took on the position, and no one seemed to know who handled the finances. Tax documents for the BLM charity, from 2019, mention an address in Los Angeles that does not exist, and the remaining two directors were unable to provide information – with one even removing BLM associations from his social media accounts after being approached by the Washington Examiner. BLM has yet to submit its 2020 tax return,...
