Britain reported another day of record Covid-19 cases on Friday, with new estimates showing swathes of London’s population are carrying the virus, underlining the relentless advance of the Omicron variant. Omicron’s rapid spread has driven a surge in cases over the last seven days, especially in the capital. Around 1 in 20 Londoners likely had Covid-19 on Dec. 16 and early estimates - which could yet be revised - suggest this may have risen to 1 in 10 on Sunday, models from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) showed on Friday.

Researchers may be in the early stages of discovering an effective strategy for inhibiting the virus that causes COVID-19, according to the results of a recent study. The results of the findings from David A. Ostrov, Ph.D., of the University of Florida, were published in Pathogens in late November. The report suggested that combining diphenhydramine — an antihistamine sold as Benadryl that is used for allergy symptoms — and lactoferrin — a protein found in cow and human milk — reduced replication of SARS-CoV-2 by 99% in lab tests on human lung and monkey cells.

Anomalous production of electrical energy in room temperature reactors Alan Smith Net Zero Scientific Ltd. Some 200 years ago Edmund Becquerel discovered a new phenomenon, the photo-voltaic effect, a discovery that led eventually to the modern solar panel. A development curve that took 150 years. Towards the end of the 19th century Heinrich Hertz and some contemporaries discovered and studied the photo-electric effect, the liberation of electrons from metal surfaces when exposed to light, and Peltier published his work on thermo-electricity. Wood had entered a temporary order against the New York Times last month, drawing criticism from freedom of the press advocates.
