The Constitution contains a powerful set of ideals and a wise system of governance, based on a deep reading of classical and medieval history as well as Renaissance philosophy. However, none of this matters if no system of force is in place to keep and defend the Constitution. Ultimately, this what the 2nd Amendment is about: A distributed capacity for violence guaranteed to private citizens so that they may serve as a check and balance on the power of the state. America’s Founding Fathers understood an uncomfortable truth: Behind every law is the implicit threat of force, and behind every...

The president is hosting Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Democratic Senator Joe Manchin at his home in Wilmington, Delaware on Sunday to discuss budget negotiations. Including this weekend, Biden has taken 35 personal trips since inauguration in January 2021 and spent 108 of his first 276 days in office at either his Wilmington or Rehoboth homes or at the presidential retreat at Camp...

(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 21 - Experts named by prosecutors said Thursday that an 18-year-old Italian student who died after getting the AstraZneca jab in a Genoa hospital last June died of a thrombosis caused by the vaccine. Medical examiner Luca Tajana and haematologist Franco Piovella said in their report that Camilla Canepa's death "is reasonably to be linked to an adverse reaction to the anti-COVID vaccine". The young woman from Sestri Levante was healthy and her medical history was recorded correctly, they said. (ANSA).

If absurdity were a source of renewable energy, the COP26 climate change summit might achieve its aim of saving the planet...Some 240 Jaguar Land Rover vehicles including its I-PACE SUVs will be laid on by the UK government to move the 120 visiting heads of state and their entourages between their hotels and the SEC venue. Unfortunately a lack of charging points means the fleet now has to be re-charged by cooking oil-powered generators.

Saturday Night Live brought back three of its former Joe Bidens in the opening skit which mocked his approval rating and mental acuity. -snip- 'Here. Come on. Let me get you loose, huh,' Sudeikis says as he rubs Johnson's shoulder and leans in to sniff him. 'Let me take a whiff. That's good. See, that ain't creepy. Hey, and look, I hope this isn't sexist, but you got to smile more, sweetie. Okay?' The sniffing of Biden's hair is a reference to the now infamous 2015 photo of him leaning into Stephanie Carter, wife of former Secretary of Defense Ash...

Behind the glamour, filming for Hollywood movies is notoriously dangerous, with plane crashes, explosions, falling structures and high speed chases all responsible for cutting short the lives of stunt doubles, actors and directors. This was brought into sharp focus again on Thursday by the death of photography director Halyna Hutchins who was accidentally killed by Alec Baldwin with a prop gun on set in New Mexico.

Dr. Anthony Fauci is under fire over claims his division of the National Institutes of Health sent a $375,800 grant to a lab in Tunisia to lock beagle puppies in cages so sand flies could eat the dogs alive. The White Coat Waste Project also claims that Fauci-backed researchers spent multiple weeks injecting the dogs with an experimental drug before killing and dissecting them. The puppies were locked in cages for nine consecutive days and used as bait to attract infectious sand flies that would eat the dogs alive, the report alleges. Close to $1.7m was spent on experiments on...

Over the weekend, ABC and NBC finally discovered the close gubernatorial race in Virginia between institutional Democrat Terry McAuliffe and Republican outsider Glenn Youngkin. And with the polls showing a dead heat between them, the networks adopted the talking points of the McAuliffe campaign as they railed against Youngkin as some kind of Donald Trump mini-me. At the same time, they ignored McAuliffe lashing out at Virginia parents for daring to try to have a say in their children’s education. On Saturday, NBC Nightly News and White House correspondent Monica Alba gushed about former President Barack Obama stumping for McAuliffe...

"All across the country, Democrats are trying to make it easier to vote, not make it harder to vote, and push back on Republicans who are trying to systematically prevent ordinary citizens from making their voices heard," Obama said Saturday in Richmond.

Virginia gubernatorial candidate Glenn Youngkin demanded that Loudoun County Superintendent Scott Ziegler and the school board resign following a bombshell email this week that showed the board was made aware on May 28 that a female student reported she had been sexually assaulted by a male student in a girl's bathroom. The email was sent to school board members about a month before Ziegler said at a board meeting that he had no record of assaults in the school district's bathrooms. Youngkin told Fox News on Saturday that the email, which was first reported by WTOP, "simply confirms what we...

Within each of our hearts lies a potential hero, and when a call for help is heard, the hero inside breaks open the flesh and bone barriers and leaps into life; one person coming to the aide of another. Our daughter may loose her job due to the federal employees vaccination concerns. In my concern for her and our grandchildren, I was trying to find a way to offer her a job where she could work in the safety and shelter of her mothers' love. My great-grandmother ,while riding across the Kansas prairie as a pioneer woman, saw vistas of...

Gas prices are the highest they have been in seven years, and they are going to keep on climbing through winter. Across the entire United States, the current average price for a gallon of gas is $3.37. The last time it averaged $3.37 a gallon was Sept. 17, 2014, according to records kept by AAA. The lowest average for gas since that time was $1.76 a gallon on April 29, 2020. “That was in the depths of the pandemic when everyone was staying home. Demand was low globally too, and since then it has crept up, a penny here and...

The fact that America’s biggest banks (not to mention many of its biggest companies) have embraced virtue-signaling on issues like racial equality and representation is nothing new. But in the race to be seen as the most beneficent megabank on Wall Street, Citigroup appears to be pulling ahead. One year after releasing a 104-page paper purporting to analyze the impact of racism and inequality on America’s economy – the analysts ultimately determined, in a report that reads more like propaganda than sell-side research, that “systemic racism” has helped to destroy some $16 trillion in economic value over the last 20...

Nearly 80% of men with metastatic prostate cancer died from their malignancy, according to a retrospective cohort study. The findings fill an information gap because, remarkably, "data are lacking" on causes of death among men whose prostate cancer has spread to other sites, say lead author Ahmed Elmehrath, MD. "It was an important realization by our team that prostate cancer was the cause of death in 78% of patients," said senior author Omar Alhalabi, MD, of University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, in an email to Medscape Medical News. The findings represent the near opposite of a commonly...

Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time Mark 10:46-52 Friends, today in the Gospel passage, we see Jesus’ mercy toward the blind man as a hallmark of his ministry. Jesus comes as healer, savior, inaugurator of the kingdom. He is the embodiment of hope. Jesus wanted to connect human suffering to the very source of life and health. The energy of God pours through him to the needy. Now, I realize a question may be forming in your mind: "Well, why doesn’t he simply cure everyone then?" The answer is obviously wrapped up in the mystery of God’s will, but the important...

Louisiana fathers are taking matters into their own hands after repeated violence broke out in one school, where 23 students were arrested over just a three-day period. "We're dads. We decided the best people who can take care of our kids are who? Are us," father Michael LaFitte told CBS News. LaFitte launched a group called Dads on Duty, sparking 40 fathers to sign up and take shifts at Southwood High School in Shreveport to maintain a peaceful environment...
