Far-left documentary filmmaker Michael Moore compared Christian conservatives to the Taliban, likening oppressive Islamic law to “how a lot of Southern Baptists want it to be” in America and classifying both Christians and the members of the jihadist organization as “religious nuts.” “They’re religious nuts, but we’ve got those here too,” Moore said in an interview with Variety, caveating his concerns of the Taliban stripping away the rights of women by asserting that the U.S. also has issues with religious fundamentalists.

Rep. Dan Crenshaw on Friday said President Joe Biden must authorize U.S. troops to expand the perimeter around Kabul's airport and retake another air base to help with evacuations. The Texas Republican, who served as a Navy SEAL for a decade and was wounded in Afghanistan in 2012, tweeted his thoughts early Friday morning. "Two things need to happen, and only Biden can authorize: 1. US military must be allowed to operate outside Kabul airport to get American citizens. 2: Retake Bagram airfield, thus giving us more options for evacuations. Biden created this mess and needs to take decisive action,"...

SPRINGFIELD — State Sen. Chapin Rose is seeking an investigation into a probe by Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s administration into a Mahomet-Seymour school board member’s position on the state’s school mask mandate. The Mahomet Republican said Thursday that he filed the complaint with the Office of the Executive Inspector General on the advice of his caucus’s ethics officer. The issue centers on Carle Health sports-medicine physician Dr. Jeremy Henrichs, who is also a member of the Mahomet-Seymour school board. In an Aug. 11 email, the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation asked Henrichs for a detailed statement on his opinion...

H/T GOPJ Not one of those 800 Afghans we flew to safety brought an American with them to the airport to help them escape. Most of them not only did NOT bring an American - they were unvetted. And they left their wives and children and flew to safety and the US gravy train without them. Who are they? ................................. Ministers "blindsided themselves" by ignoring a warning eight months ago about the implications of the US troop withdrawal from Afghanistan, it has been claimed. A report submitted to the government in January laid out how the US pull-out risked undermining the Afghan government and allowing the country to descend into civil war. But the Conservative chair of the International Relations and Defence Select Committee in the House of Lords told Sky News she was left "very disappointed" by the way the government failed to heed the concerns raised in its "UK in Afghanistan" report, published in January. The committee interviewed...

Each generation returns the same complaints: college teachers drone, college teachers lack creativity and spark, nay, they often lack even rudimentary pedagogical awareness. And since the ascendance of what William James coined the “PhD Octopus” of credentialism and narrowed specialization, far too many see their work with students as an impediment to their research. Look at the very idioms used to describe professorial work. Professors routinely refer to scholarship as “my work,” and teaching as “my load,” a burden to be endured. Jonathan Zimmerman, professor of history of education at the University of Pennsylvania, makes these and other observations in...

For four years, Democrats and much of the media demanded former President Donald Trump resign or the 25th Amendment be deployed to remove him from office. The complaints largely stemmed from grievance over the 2016 election but magnified as Trump's behavior got more combative and mean while in office. Now, having defeated Trump, President Joe Biden has reached a point where those who demanded Trump's resignation should be calling for Biden's, unless it was all just partisan bellyaching. Months ago, Biden said he intended to withdraw Americans from Afghanistan. It is one of the only issues on which he chose...

I was training at the gym today (yes, this 60+-year-old is POWERLIFTING, but that’s a story for another day). Sometimes, members abuse the music, going heavy on the cursing, or turning it up too loud. Many think they need over-the-top music to train. I understand the motivational potential of music, and it has worked for me too, yet I typically prefer to train in silence. For some reason, there was no music at the gym today. One guy came in and then started to leave. Another guy asked him why he was leaving. He said he couldn’t train without music!...

What is a quitter? Mike Richards — the recently announced new host of “Jeopardy!” — has already bailed on the gig amid ongoing controversy about his problematic history of sexist language and lawsuits. He announced his departure in a bombshell memo dropped Friday on the beloved game show’s production staff. “[Sony Pictures Television] will now resume the search for a permanent syndicated host,” Richards, 46, revealed in the resignation letter. “In the meantime, we will be bringing back guest hosts to continue production for the new season, details of which will be announced next week.” A spokesperson for Sony TV...

Governments don't know which planes their evacuated citizens are on, the Dutch foreign minister says. "Because of the chaos at the airport, we do not at this moment have a clear picture of which aeroplane our own people are on, or the citizens of other European countries or Nato allies, or of Afghani personnel - no country does," Sigrid Kaag says. "We know that there are at this moment more than 700 Dutch nationals still in Afghanistan... and we have to bring them back." Most Dutch diplomatic staff were evacuated on Sunday, but the ambassador and a small replacement team...

No jab, no food. A video out of France shows irate shoppers being blocked from entering a supermarket by police because they don’t have COVID passports. The footage shows people with shopping carts being blocked from entering the grocery store by security guards. The guards then begin pushing one woman away as the confrontation becomes more heated. A number of police officers then begin manhandling the frustrated shoppers, presumably not too concerned in that moment about social distancing. The angry shoppers don’t appear to be anti-lockdown protesters because almost all of them are wearing face masks. “The entire world has...

A dozen elected leaders in Minnesota's Republican Party, along with the party chairwoman, have vowed to return campaign contributions from a GOP strategist who was indicted by a federal grand jury on child sex trafficking charges. Anton Lazzaro, 30, is facing one count of conspiracy to commit sex trafficking of minors, five counts of sex trafficking of minors, one count of attempted sex trafficking of a minor, and three counts of obstruction. A federal judge unsealed the indictment Thursday. According to the federal charges, Lazzaro conspired with others to recruit and solicit six minor victims to engage in commercial sex...

Border Patrol agents are being asked to temporarily move from the US-Mexico border to Afghanistan to help with the desperate evacuation of US and Afghan citizens following the Taliban takeover of the country. The Border Patrol has been overwhelmed by this year’s illegal immigration crisis on the southern border, but agents were recently asked to consider an assignment to either Afghanistan or a nearby country to help process Afghans seeking refuge in the US. Three Border Patrol agents told the Washington Examiner that the possible postings would last 30 to 90 days overseas. One agent said that “supervisors are getting...

Chuck Schumer is getting a bad rap. The Senate majority leader drew jeers for his awkward flow at a Bronx hip-hop concert celebrating the start of New York City’s “Homecoming Week” Monday. Holding a large plaque, the 70-year-old New York lawmaker shimmied up on stage, where Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. set him up by asking: “You got some bars, Chuck?” “I got the bars, I got the plaque, I got the music, we got it all!,” the four-term senator belted to the crowd.

What’s most fascinating about this election is the contrast between a decent, mature and serious leader like O’Toole and the “boys” who now head the Liberal and NDP parties. The Conservative leader is a man who combines the discipline and strategic aptitude of a military officer with the attention to detail and precision of a corporate lawyer who worked with sophisticated clients. The others pose and posture as leaders.... This “Recovery Plan” is not dumbed down. This is not platitudes. This is not screed or scripture, nor immoderate in any way. This is not talking points written out by consultants...

As refugees from Afghanistan pour into the Fort Lee U.S. military base in Virginia, an imam named Ammar Amonette is leading the fundraising drive for the Afghan refugees. Ammar Amonette, Imam of the Islamic Center of Virginia, is a left-wing activist who has spoken alongside Democrat then-Governor Terry McAuliffe, worked with the state’s Democrat attorney general to push hate crime legislation, held a press conference with Democrat Senator Mark Warner, and protested President Donald Trump’s travel ban on terrorism-rich countries. In a 2004 interview unearthed by NATIONAL FILE, Amonette discussed the 9/11 attackers, saying, “Terrorism is about symbolic targets. It’s...

A University of Massachusetts Dartmouth criminology professor who once authored an academic paper on “Black Feminist Hauntology” said she believes students should not be allowed to take field trips to prisons as it might “harm” prisoners. The College Fix recently acquired a recording of an online seminar attended by academics throughout the nation in which Viviane Saleh-Hanna said she had recently been involved in a debate about whether students should be allowed to go on prison tours “as an educational thing.” “Many of us took the stand that said no, that’s really harmful to prisoners, to be looked at like...

Andrew Cuomo appears to be all packed up — with no place to go. Moving trucks were spotted Friday outside New York’s Executive Mansion, three days before the disgraced governor has to be out. A U-Haul and at least two pickup trucks were parked outside the mansion in Albany first thing in the morning. At least six workers could be seen unloading dollies and carts from the truck before heading inside. After being unloaded, the U-Haul was then moved out of site from the road. It is not yet clear where Cuomo is headed when he leaves his lavish digs...
