Kim Gardner, the first black woman to be elected St. Louis's circuit attorney, has neglected her duties according to former employees, city residents, and a circuit court judge, KSDK reported. "Kim Gardner is a poor excuse for a prosecutor," Cierra Moore, whose brother allegedly was gunned down in 2020 by a suspect set free last week, told KSDK. Brandon Campbell went free when a circuit judge was forced to dismiss his case in the murder of Randy Moore after a St. Louis prosecutor in Gardner's office failed to appear at three hearings and did not comply with a court order...

As more reports reveal the actions of former Vice President Mike Pence amid the violence of January 6, his purported heroism stands in contrast to many other high-profile Republicans, whose reputations are tarnished for how they acted about the Capitol riot. But the former vice president appears trapped in a political stalemate; too loyal to Donald Trump for those who stand firmly against the former president and not loyal enough for the MAGA diehards convinced, despite all the evidence, that Trump won the last election. Preceding the storming of the U.S. Capitol, Trump had pushed Pence to reject the electoral...

Reviewed by Emily Henderson, B.Sc.Jul 20 2021 In the largest study of its kind, an investigation by UC San Francisco has found no evidence that moderate coffee consumption can cause cardiac arrhythmia. In fact, each additional daily cup of coffee consumed among several hundred thousand individuals was associated with a 3 percent lower risk of any arrhythmia occurring, including atrial fibrillation, premature ventricular contractions, or other common heart conditions, the researchers report. The study included a four-year follow up. The paper is published July 19, 2021, in JAMA Internal Medicine. "Coffee is the primary source of caffeine for most people,...

Friday, Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE) went to bat for Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), who House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is considering adding to the January 6 select committee after she vetoed two of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s committee appointees. Responding to the report that Kinzinger is being considered, Coons praised the Republican from Illinois who has been vocal in his opposition to former President Donald Trump and voted to impeach him following the riot at the U.S. Capitol. He told CNN’s “At This Hour” that Kinzinger “would be a great addition.”

On Wednesday's Andrea Mitchell Reports, MSNBC regulars fearmongered about the possibility that the world will become uninhabitable for humans unless the Joe Biden administration can enact regulations on the fossil fuel industry that were blocked by President Donald Trump. MSNBC weekend host Jonathan Capehart made absurd suggestions that humans might have to fly into space to find a place to live: "We have to get a handle on this -- otherwise, we're all going to be looking for seats on... the Branson rocket -- the Bezos rocket -- the Musk rocket up for another place that's habitable for human life."...

Fifty years ago, I entered the University of Tennessee-Knoxville as a freshman scholarship runner on its high-profile track team. The NCAA held athletes to a strict amateur code in which compensation to athletes was limited to in-kind payments of room, board, books, and fees. The term “illegally paying players” meant sneaking in extra amenities including though not limited to cars, special benefits, and the “$50 handshakes” from boosters, all of which could get a university’s athletic programs onto NCAA probation. With National Association of Collegiate Athletics v. Alston, the U.S. Supreme Court guaranteed huge changes in collegiate sports, and with...

U.S. Air Force veteran Sonya Bryson-Kirksey, who sings the national anthem for the NHL's Tampa Bay Lightning, became a familiar face to TV viewers during the team's recent run to the Stanley Cup championship. But her celebration of the team's title didn't last long: Last week she was hospitalized with the coronavirus despite being vaccinated in March, according to reports. Her husband, Jimmie Kirksey Jr., said she had tested positive for the delta variant and was doing better on Thursday morning.

The Celebration of Holy Mass According to the Roman Missal of 1962July 21, 2021Daniel Cardinal DiNardoOn July 16th, the Holy See publicized the motu proprio letter of Pope Francis, Traditionis custodes, whereby the Holy Father shares his dispositions on the celebration of Holy Mass according to the Roman Missal of 1962.Since Traditionis custodes touches upon certain pastoral realities in this local Church, I am consulting with a number of people on the implementation of the Holy Father’s directives, including some priests who regularly celebrate Mass according to the 1962 Missal in their parish churches. I aim to provide for the...

Mary Katharine Ham appeared on CNN for a segment on Anthony Fauci. She was great, which means she probably won’t be appearing on the network for months since she expertly dissects the liberal media narratives. She’s too good at it. And the look of irritation that was exhibited on the faces of those in this segment was priceless. Ham called the play perfectly when it comes to Fauci and the media. The man doesn’t field tough questions from the media. It is a ‘fan girl’ experience and you can see that with his huffy and puffy attitude when questioned about...

Math is racist. (At NASA, Creola Katherine Johnson performed critical astrophysics calculations on the fly which other engineers couldn't do, while computers were still punch-card input, as portrayed in the film Hidden Figures -- movie trailer.) Music notation is racist. (Don't listen to the music of African-American classical composers William Grant Still, Florence Price or Samuel Coleridge Taylor. Don't listen to "Akinla" from Fela Sowande's African Suite.) African classical composer Fela SowandeRabid fears of racism in serious academic work just happen to correspond to educational planning goals rolled out 5 or 6 lifetimes ago. What we would call socialism in...

U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland said his new Justice Department is focusing on five American cities to tackle illegal gun trafficking. On Thursday, while in Chicago, the official announced he’s sending gun trafficking strike forces to the Democrat-led cities of Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco and Washington D.C. In a statement, the attorney general noted, “all too often guns found at crime scenes come from hundreds or thousands of miles away.” The strike forces represent a bolstering of federal and local law enforcement seeking to disrupt the flow of unlawfully obtained firearms to the places they are...

ADELAIDE, Australia — That morning cup of joe may be just what you need to help jumpstart your workday and sharpen your mind. But if you find yourself repeatedly heading over to the coffee pot for refills, you may be actually putting your brain health at risk. Too much coffee can increase the risk of dementia, warns a new study. Drinking six or more cups a day was linked with a 53 percent increased risk of dementia and make stroke more likely, too. Brain imaging reveals that drinking a lot of coffee was also associated with brain shrinkage, say scientists....

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) slammed some in the Republican Party for “whitewashing” the Jan. 6 Capitol breach. In an interview on “The Takeout Podcast,” CBS News’s Major Garrett asked the governor to weigh in on efforts within the GOP to “sanitize” the attack, which led to multiple deaths and hundreds of arrests. “We have to get to the bottom of exactly what happened there, and there's no whitewashing,” Hogan said.

VIDEOFasten your seatbelts before you watch the Virginia Beach School Board at the July 20, 2021 meeting try to shut down parents from speaking out by using the "agenda" excuse to constantly declare them to be off-topic. It does not go well as the parents fight back in quite a dramatic fashion.

Sixteenth Week in Ordinary Time Matthew 13:18-23 Friends, in today’s Gospel Jesus explains the parable of the sower. Let’s study each part of his explanation. The seed sown on the path is “the one who hears the word without understanding it, and the Evil One comes and steals away what was sown.” This means we might end up blocked from God because we lack education in the ways of the Spirit. The seed sown on rocky ground is “the one who hears the word and receives it at once with joy. But he has no root and lasts only for...

Upon leaving my Cuban American community, I encountered individuals with no functional understanding of Cuba and the many millions debilitated by the regime. As a first-generation Cuban American from Miami, Florida, my upbringing, daily discourse, and education have been overwhelmingly influenced by the Cuban struggle. To me, it’s always seemed straightforward: Cuba’s communist system has inflicted human and civil rights violations, family separations, and sexual, religious, and ideological persecution of minorities since 1959. Yet upon leaving my Cuban American community, I encountered individuals with no functional understanding of Cuba and the dire context that defined the lives of myself and the...

Actor Sean Penn is reportedly refusing to return to the set of his upcoming Starz anthology series Gaslit until everyone in the production has received the coronavirus vaccine. Deadline reported Penn is insisting to the production on the mandatory vaccination of all production personnel, including actors and crew members, and has offered to facilitate the vaccination effort free of charge through his organization CORE. Sean Penn’s demands come as Hollywood studios and unions recently reached a tentative agreement allowing productions to make vaccinations a mandatory requirement for work on TV and movie shoots. NBCUniversal, which is producing Gaslit, has reportedly...

During a town hall with CNN this week, President Joe Biden said handguns should be banned. “The idea you need a weapon that can have the ability to fire 20, 30, 40, 50, 120 shots from that weapon, whether it’s a, whether it’s a 9mm pistol or whether it’s a rifle, is ridiculous," Biden said. “I’m continuing to push to eliminate the sale of those things." But Politifact, which claims to be an objective fact checking organization, rated the claim Biden said he would ban handguns "false."
