Typically, the temperature rises about 25 degrees Celsius for every kilometer, or 75 degrees Fahrenheit for each mile, and more the deeper you go. The steam wafting out of hot springs in Yellowstone National Park or Iceland, places where the Earth’s crust is thin, shows how much heat the mantle gives off. The trick is to get a large enough surface area to do the heat exchange. A typical vertical oil well might have 1,000 to 10,000 square feet of surface area. But it turns out that the same thing that’s been perfected over the past 30 years to make...

European Union countries finally approved a law to make the bloc's greenhouse gas emissions targets legally binding, as EU policymakers prepare a huge new package of policies to fight climate change, Reuters reports. Negotiators from Parliament and EU member states reached a deal in April on the climate law, which sets targets to reduce net EU emissions by 55% by 2030, from 1990 levels, and eliminate them by 2050. Ministers from the 27 EU countries formally approved the deal on Monday, except for Bulgaria, which abstained. "The final compromise does not reflect our national position sufficiently," a Bulgarian government spokesman...

At his rally in Wellington, Ohio, former President Donald Trump took an informal, impromptu poll of the support for each declared U.S. Senate candidate running for the seat being vacated by Senator Rob Portman (R-OH). As Trump listed the names of the four candidates, the attendees responded with various levels of cheers – and jeers – to demonstrate their support. The crowd seemed to applaud candidates Mike Gibbons and Josh Mandel, while in sharp contrast, the boos that rang from the crowd highlight a level of dissatisfaction from many Trump allies with former Ohio GOP chairwoman Jane Timken. “I think...

Unfounded fears that the coronavirus vaccine causes infertility, a need to question authority and politicization of vaccines are cited as leading reasons for lagging rates of youth vaccination in Ohio and across the country. “It’s frustrating,” said psychologist Juanita Martin, executive director of counseling and accessibility at the University of Akron. “Young people have a sense of, ‘I’m invincible, I’m young, I’m healthy — nothing is going to happen to me.’ The wider implications just don’t resonate with them.” The fast-spreading Delta variant is infecting younger people worldwide. This makes vaccinating this population more important. The national trends also are...

Two home builders who destroyed 36 Joshua trees on their Prescott Avenue property were fined $18,000 in court Tuesday. “It is unlawful to remove these trees. It is a violation that will be investigated thoroughly and prosecuted,” said Patrick Foy, a captain with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. The investigation began Feb. 11, when a Morongo Basin resident saw two local landowners uprooting Joshua trees to make way for a single-family home. They had the trees pulled from the ground and were burying them in a hole on the property, according to the prosecutor. “A resident in the...

A leftist assistant professor argued that the U.S. needs to spend trillions of taxpayer dollars to fight climate change. And spending “trillions” is just the “down payment,” according to her perspective. University of California, Santa Barbara Assistant Professor Leah Stokes joined liberal news organization Democracy Now! to push her extremist vision for U.S. spending on what she called the “climate crisis.” Co-host Juan González asked Stokes to address the “state roles, uh, in addressing, uh, the uh, the climate crisis.” Stokes said the “states have an important role to play,” but she pivoted to emphasize her fixation on federal spending....

A GRAN claimed to be the world’s oldest person has celebrated turning 119 - and puts her long life down to her fatty diet of butter and cheese. Seker Arslan was reported to be even older yesterday in Turkish media after her cake had a large number 120 on top - as even her family appeared uncertain how old she is. She was said to have celebrated the event at home in Amasya, north Turkey, surrounded by her relatives on Sunday. But an ID card offered as proof of her age suggested she was born on June 27, 1902 -...

There is a lot of disinformation floating around about Pennsylvania, audits, and the fight for election integrity in the Keystone State. Almost every day I read an article suggesting that Pennsylvania is about to follow Arizona down the road of really digging into what happened in the November 2020 elections. That is not anywhere close to true. Here is the ground truth from the Keystone State. ..... This is the state of play in Pennsylvania. We are not on the brink of some historic moment in which Republican leaders will stand up, fight for the truth, and push back on...

Any sane, political advisor would tell Joe Biden to stand pat, keep his head down, steer to the center, and hope he can survive his four years. This administration has no mandate for change. None of its core policies, from open borders to defunding the police, to waging war on white people enjoys anything close to majority support. But apparently, there are no sane, political advisors in this administration – only ideologues. Devoid of any contact with real Americans, convinced of their own moral superiority and infused with Marxist ideology, they intend to transform America and destroy the republic as...

You Think Zuckerberg’s Massive Investment In RNA Vaccine Development Has Anything To Do With Facebook Censorship Of Vaccine Information? Recently, I posted on my personal Facebook page some video shot outside of a hospital in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The video showed protesters who were opposing the hospital’s decision to require all personnel to get vaccinated against COVID-19. A speaker in the video pointed out that the vaccines being marketed never completed the normal full scope of FDA testing and were being made available pursuant to emergency use authorizations (EAU’s). All of this is undeniably, factually true. Nonetheless, within hours Facebook shut...
