It used to be called a "crime wave," and the focus was on the criminals responsible. But that would be too triggering, pardon the pun, for liberals. They want to shift the focus away from the criminals and onto the inanimate objects criminals are using—guns. And thus this morning, CNN's New Day devoted a segment to what it called a "gun violence epidemic." The term "gun violence" was referred to no fewer than eight times. Mention of "criminals?" Nada, naturally. And what is it about Democrats and the liberal media that makes them like to use vulgarity in their public...

An explosion at a northern Illinois chemical plant Monday morning sparked massive fires that sent flames and huge plumes of thick black smoke high into the air and debris raining onto the ground, prompting evacuations. After 7 a.m., emergency crews rushed to the scene of the fire near Rockton, near the Wisconsin border, at Chemtool Inc., a company that manufactures lubricants, grease products and other fluids, and is, according to the company, the largest manufacturer of grease in the Americas. Rockton Fire Department Chief Kirk Wilson said about 70 employees who were at the plant when firefighters arrived were evacuated...

An Apple executive apparently used to fly his plane from Boise to Cupertino every weekday, a flight that took about an hour and a half. That's about as long as it took Jeff Blickman — who recounted this piece of Boise tech lore — to commute to his job at Palo Alto every day when he lived in San Francisco. “That sounds like a good life,” Blickman joked while chatting to SFGATE. He’s the director of investments and acquisitions for the Idaho investment firm Alturas and has worked fervently to attract new tech talent to Boise since moving there from...

Reality Winner, a US Air Force veteran jailed for leaking classified documents, has been released from federal prison, her lawyer said Monday. “I am thrilled to announce that Reality Winner has been released from prison,” attorney Allison Grinter Allen posted on Twitter. “She is still in custody in the residential reentry process, but we are relieved and hopeful. “Her release is not a product of the pardon or compassionate release process, but rather the time earned from exemplary behavior while incarcerated,” the lawyer said. Winner, 29, a former National Security Agency contractor, was sentenced to more than five years in...

The hand counting portion of the Arizona Audit is finally concluding with the last boxes of ballots on the floor. Audit officials have been replacing hand-counting tables with forensic imaging tables in order to expedite that section of the full forensic audit. ..... Snip..... We should have a hand count result in about a week and with the discrepancies found so far, it does not look like we will find all 2.1 million ballots certified in Maricopa County. If we do not find the ballots, we do not have evidence that Joe Biden was the legitimate winner of Arizona. On...

Having a pet can be an extremely fulfilling experience. You get companionship and with that, intriguing anecdotes tend to follow. However, not many stories would be able to match up with what Zul, a local TikToker, posted last Wednesday (June 9). It's not every day you come across a flooded home caused by your pet cats' mischievous actions. But for Zul, it wasn't the first time either. "I'm speechless guys, it's the second time. Both the same, when I'm sleeping with no one else home," Zul said. Zul doesn't only have one or two cats, he's got a clowder of...

Why have thousands upon thousands of very wealthy people suddenly felt an overwhelming urge to buy a home in Montana? At this moment, Montana is one of the hottest real estate markets in the entire country. When a desirable house is put on the market, it can often spark a wild bidding war. Of course the vast majority of the potential buyers involved in these bidding wars do not actually have any roots in Montana at all. Vast hordes of wealthy individuals from Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York and other major cities are flooding into the state, and there...

The New York City risk and investment management titan BlackRock is among several high-powered firms pushing working families out of the housing market and into rentals, therefore depriving them of capital and the opportunity to build credit and equity. According to a Wall Street Journal report, BlackRock – led by billionaire Laurence Fink – is purchasing entire neighborhoods and converting single-family homes into rentals; while in cities like Houston, investors like Fink account for one-quarter of the home purchasers. On "Tucker Carlson Tonight," Chronicles journalist and associate editor Pedro Gonzalez said that BlackRock's actions are leading 40% of American renters...

A Florida appellate court delivered a devastating blow to government-induced forced public masking in the state on Friday with a narrow 2-1 decision that finally took into account citizen privacy rights that have often been ignored throughout the pandemic. In overturning and sending back for reconsideration the decision of a circuit judge in favor of Alachua County's mask requirement, the 1st District Court of Appeal panel cited the state Supreme Court's interpretation of privacy rights "so broad as to include the complete freedom of a person to control his own body," Fox13 reported. Those aren’t olives. An Ohio restaurant seems to have found a use for the Brood X cicadas pestering parts of the Midwest. The Pizza Bandit in Dayton tested out a Spicy Thai Cicada Pie. Yes, that’s a pizza with cicadas on it. Before you get too excited — or repulsed — know that the restaurant is not selling cicada-topped pizzas. In a Facebook post showing off the new creation, the business noted, “We’re not even sure if we legally can sell you locally foraged Cicadas.” The restaurant did livestream a tasting panel trying out the pizza, which also featured miso...

...VLADIMIR PUTIN: Well even now, I believe that former US president Mr. Trump is an extraordinary individual talented individual, otherwise he would not have become US President. Democrat Rep. Thomas Suozzi is exploring a one-time tax on wealthy Americans as Democrats are looking for ways to pay for their partisan wish list while they control Congress. Suozzi (D-NY), who sits on the House Ways and Means Committee, told the Hill he is looking into a one-time tax on millionaires, called the “patriot tax.” The tax would be a “one-time surcharge of 2.5 percent on wealth between $50 million and $100 million and a 5 percent tax on wealth above $100 million.” According to Suozzi, the affected Americans would be able to pay the tax over a five-year...
