Eleventh Week in Ordinary Time Matthew 5:38–42 Friends, today’s Gospel gives Jesus’ teaching about non-resistance to evil people. We are continually wanting God to behave as we would—that is to say, withdrawing his love from those who don’t deserve it and giving his love to those who do deserve it. But this is just not the way God operates. Why should you pray for someone who is persecuting you? Why shouldn’t you be allowed at least to answer him in kind—an eye for an eye? Because God doesn’t operate that way, and you are being drawn into the divine life....

COVID shutdowns championed by U.S. governors and D.C. bureaucrats are responsible for destroying nearly 40% of small businesses since the virus was unleashed on the world—and we know now that it was for little to no damned good reason. A study by the Proceedings of the National Academies of Sciences revealed recently that shutdown orders made little to no difference in COVID’s impact. From the abstract of the study: “Previous studies have claimed that shelter-in-place orders saved thousands of lives, but we reassess these analyses and show that they are not reliable. We find that shelter-in-place orders had no detectable...

... The second annual Drag March for Change, led by drag performers of color, built on last year’s demands for more gigs, inclusion and respect in the primarily white, male, cisgender Northalsted neighborhood, which is also known as Boystown. But leaders also called for Chicago to spend less on policing and more on community groups and social services; for attention to the high homicide rate among Black transgender women; for more representation in leadership positions in Northalsted; and for the Empowering Communities for Public Safety ordinance, a police reform bill that would set up a citizen oversight board. “There...

What teachers choose to cover (or not cover) during their limited classroom time will reveal what biases and agendas that educator has on American history.“Ladies and gentlemen: The story you are about to see is true,” declared the introduction to the classic television program “Dragnet.” “All we want are the facts, ma’am,” asserted police officer “Joe Friday” during his investigations. True stories; just the facts: it seems so straightforward, doesn’t it? Not when American social studies curricula are concerned.“I teach my students that [Thomas] Jefferson sat there and wrote ‘all men are created equal,’ but he made his money off...

WASHINGTON, Thursday, June 13. The residents proper of Washing on have manifested considerable alarm to-day, having apparently an impression that WIGFALL was to make good his promise to dine in Washington on the 15th, and that Gen. Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) says Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) was kicked out of her leadership position because of “cancel culture.” During an appearance on ABC’s “The View” on Friday, Ernst explained, “While there are a number of things that I may not agree with her on, for her to come forward, stand up and say what she feels is important to say is OK.” “People may not like it, just as I may not like AOC and some of the things that she says out there. But for everyone to try to silence her voice, she has a voice, and...

“For this reason at that time certain Chaldeans came forward and brought charges against the Jews. . . . ‘There are certain Jews whom you have appointed over the administration of the province of Babylon, namely Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. These men, O king, have disregarded you; they do not serve your gods or worship the golden image which you have set up’” (Daniel 3:8-12). Expect spiritual opposition. Have you noticed that whenever you take a public stand for righteousness you feel the reaction of the world more strongly? Even something as noble as doing your work with integrity and...

VIDEOEven though CNN for some strange reason thought it was a good idea to bring Jeffrey Toobin back as its legal analyst, we can never again truly ever really hear what he says. That is because the extremely cringeworthy interview with him by Alisyn Camerota will forever be burned into our brain cells to the extent that it will overwhelm whatever Toobin ever says on whatever topics he comments upon. As an example, let us look at at a few of Toobin's commentaries from the past. Be honest. What were you thinking while supposedly hearing his commentary? Right! And that...

Justice High School, a school that's part of the Fairfax County Public Schools District in Virginia, has traveled a long way since its founding in 1959. Back then, the school board opposed racial integration and named it JEB Stuart High School after the Confederate general. Today, the school is 50.3% Hispanic, 23.4% White, 13.6% Asian, 10.1% Black, 0.2% Native American, and 2.4% mixed race. It also has a Muslim school board member who, after giving an exceptionally woke commencement speech in English, switched to Arabic to urge that the students engage in "jihad."

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) issued a strong statement Sunday night saying the high inflation rates that have started to destroy the United States have been caused by the “Democrats’ reckless policies” after Operation Warp Speed helped bring the country back. McCarthy said former President Donald Trump’s Operation Warp Speed had helped stop the country from collapsing under the coronavirus pandemic. He said, throughout the country, there are “retail and restaurants operating at full capacity” along with Americans letting life return to normal while they are “shedding masks at the grocery store and barber shops,” with “kids returning to...
