Leftwing activist Al Sharpton claimed Monday that “the practice of America was built on racism,” in response to Sen. Tim Scott’s (R-SC) recent declaration that the U.S. is “not a racist country.” “I watched, the other night, the president make his first address to the joint session of Congress,” Sharpton stated in his speech during the funeral of Andrew Brown Jr., a black man who was shot by law enforcement in North Carolina on April 21. “And then I watched the rebuttal by the senator from South Carolina. Seems something awkward to me, where a white president talked about white...

Drugmaker Pfizer is currently testing a single pill cure for COVID-19, and if all goes well, the drug could be available this year. The drug, called PF-07321332, is currently in a Phase One clinical trial with healthy adults. According to the Telegraph, the protease inhibitor may be available as soon as this year. The pill was unveiled at the American Chemical Society Spring 2021 meeting in early April. The drug works by targeting the main protease of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. By inhibiting the protease, the drug prevents the virus from reproducing itself within the body. CDC changes...

Let's play a game. I will post a number of actual quotes and I'd like you to indicate to me whether they are racist or not. I am not going to tell you who said them. About Tim Scott: "Lucky for McConnell, he has his own tap dancer to try and re-orient the view of America for him.” Racist or not? "But please, senator, say more about how un-racist the country is while you trot out that tired line about going from cotton to Congress to clown. Perhaps this was merely Sen. Scott’s audition to be Sam Jackson’s understudy in...

But protective effects seen only among women, study finds Taking multivitamins, omega-3, probiotics or vitamin D supplements may lessen the risk of testing positive for SARS-CoV-2, the virus responsible for COVID-19 infection -- at least among women -- indicates a large population study, published online in the journal BMJ Nutrition Prevention & Health. But taking any of vitamin C, zinc, or garlic supplements wasn't associated with a lower risk of testing positive for the virus, the findings show. There has been plenty of celebrity endorsement of the use of dietary supplements to both ward off and treat COVID-19 infection since...

The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday declined to take up a challenge against Maryland’s ban on bump stocks and similar devices that can make guns fire faster. The high court on Monday turned away a challenge (pdf) to the ban, which took effect in October 2018. A lower court had dismissed the challenge at an early stage and that decision had been upheld by an appeals court. As is typical, the Supreme Court did not issue a reason for declining to take up the case. [snip] Several weeks ago, however, the Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit recognized that...

In order to give Officer Tsakos a proper hero’s funeral, members of the local community were asked for their assistance in ways that would cost them no money, but would lend a helping hand in creating a funeral that would be fitting for a true hero who died in the line of duty. Once such place, Decker’s Nursery, in Greenlawn, NY, was asked by the Greenlawn Fire Department if they would be willing to provide a small portion of their parking lot in order to set up an arch detail for Officer Tsakos’ funeral. The response they got was an...

The highly acclaimed Manhattan restaurant Eleven Madison Park said on Monday that it would no longer serve meat or seafood when it reopens next month, becoming one of the most high-profile restaurants to switch to a plant-based menu because of environmental concerns. Daniel Humm, the chef and an owner, said in a statement on the restaurant’s website, “It was clear that after everything we all experienced this past year, we couldn’t open the same restaurant.”

A local high school is offering students nearly half of their required community service hours to get the coronavirus vaccine. This effectively bribes the students into making a medical decision that should be left to the students and their families. Chimacum Junior/Senior High School (CJSHS) near Port Townsend requires students to fulfill 55 hours of community service hours to graduate. The school emailed students this week with ideas. Students can pick up litter, attend an online school board Zoom meeting, or write a letter to a newspaper editor. But one community service option caught a parent’s attention: getting the COVID...

Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) is “hopeful” that he can muscle police reform legislation through Congress that will satiate Black Lives Matter (BLM) terrorists. Scott has become the poster child for a Republican establishment that is desperate to capitulate to Democrats. He echoes talking points about systemic racism, the need for progressive reforms, and talks negatively of the founding-era patriots who built this nation. “One of the reasons why I’m hopeful is because, in a way, this time, my friends on the left aren’t looking for the issue; they’re looking for a solution,” Scott said during a recent appearance on CBS’...

While the University has made a concerted effort across the past decade to promote gender and racial diversity among its faculty, Harvard has not made any explicit attempts to bolster representation from across the ideological spectrum. Government professor Harvey C. Mansfield Jr. ’53 is widely known on campus as the default example of a conservative faculty member at Harvard. According to Mansfield, this is not because his views possess any sort of “superiority” to others’ perspectives, but simply because a professor with his political stance is “rare” on Harvard’s campus. “Every class you enter, you have to work out your...

After President Biden gave his historic speech before (some of) Congress last Wednesday evening CNN hosted a panel of leftist sycophants to analyze the night. The blatantly slobbering affair was full with fulsome praise for the man, but then Gloria Borger took things to a new level. The expert analyst was being critical of some comments made by Donald Trump, where she was perturbed that the former President was not giving the current President proper credit on his pandemic response.Borger made the astounding announcement that, "everybody understands that Operation Warp Speed happened under Joe Biden." It is something to behold.https://t.co/cZTdMcP9yG—...
