JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) — An early Republican candidate announced plans Monday to seek the Alaska U.S. Senate seat that has been held since 2002 by Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski. Kelly Tshibaka, who has led the sprawling Alaska Department of Administration since early 2019, in a statement said she is running "for the Alaskans who believe government is of the people, by the people and for the people. The D.C. insiders need to be held accountable to us.” Her campaign said she was resigning as commissioner in pursuing the Senate race. Murkowski is widely seen as a moderate and has at...

1955’s The Dam Busters is a brilliant film about stiff-upper-lip British bravery during WWII. Directed by Michael Anderson, it stars Michael Redgrave, Richard Todd, and in early cameo roles, Robert Shaw, and Patrick McGoohan. It dominated the British box office in 1955, and was nominated for an Academy Award for its special effects. And while its climatic action scenes look hokey today, with miniature aircraft that look like they could have been Airfix models, that’s in part because of the massive revolution in special effects the film directly inspired. When George Lucas was planning Star Wars, he took plenty of...

Top loads for Popping Winter/Spring Predators and Varmints. With our big game seasons winding down, it's time to turn our attention to the predators in the later winter and the varmints in the spring. Where the strong, stiff premium bullets – with their bonded cores, monometal construction and partitioned cores – are the darlings of the big game world, the small-bore cartridges that best handle the furbearers and varmints are the opposite: maximum frangibility is a benefit. I enjoy hunting both coyotes and foxes in January and February here in New York, when the fur is prime, and both species...

“The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting.” This morning – You could not make this up; an unimaginably complex WW3 Techno-thriller unfolding as markets stumble and global supply chains hover on the edge of anarchy. On the other hand, maybe that’s just the way it was planned. I am not one for conspiracy theories. But… this morning… If I was a writer of trashy global-techno-World War 3 pulp fiction, and proposed the following scenario where the global economy lurches into an unprecedented period of instability – nobody would believe me: 1) Global Supply Chains, weakened...

Pastor Jackson Lahmeyer has announced that he will run against U.S. Sen. James Lankford for the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate in 2022. Lahmeyer has been endorsed by retired General Michael Flynn. Lahmeyer said that Lankford, a Baptist minister who used to run Falls Creek Christian Camp, is a good man but not strong when it comes to making decisions. Lankford declined to go along with a formal objection to the results of the November 2020 presidential elections. Lankford said his primary goal was reform of election practice rather than a challenge to the Electoral College. Lankford apologized to...

Open Letter to the WHO: Immediately Halt All Covid-19 Mass Vaccinations Geert Vanden Bossche, DMV, PhD, independent virologist and vaccine expert, formerly employed at GAVI and The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. To all authorities, scientists and experts around the world, to whom this concerns: the entre world population. I am all but an antivaxxer. As a scientist I do not usually appeal to any platform of this kind to make a stand on vaccine-related topics. As a dedicated virologist and vaccine expert I only make an exception when health authorities allow vaccines to be administered in ways that threaten...

We commemorate those who fought in the Vietnam War on National Vietnam War Veterans Day, March 29. There’s no doubt that the Vietnam War was one of the most brutal. In fact, over three million people were killed during the 20 years it went on. It was known as the Second Indochina War to Americans, and considering its long fighting time and brutality, National Vietnam War Veterans Day was created to honor all the men and women who fought during its time.

The third stimulus checks were signed into law just a few short weeks ago by President Joe Biden, but millions of qualifying Americans have already received their direct payments from the IRS. That's a record time for stimulus payments, which took at least a week or two to start processing with the prior two stimulus packages under the former administration. As of Wednesday, March 25, the IRS had issued payments to about 127 million qualifying Americans via direct deposit and paper checks. And, even more paper checks and debit cards will be on the way in the upcoming weeks. These...

Sen. Lindsey Graham R-S.C., said Sunday it was "sick" that President Biden is playing the "race card" regarding the GOP-led Georgia election law and the legislative filibuster. "What's sick is for the president of the United States to play the race card continuously in such a hypocritical way," Graham said. During an appearance on "Fox News Sunday," Graham slammed Biden for claiming that policy and legislation he disagrees with are relics of racism and the Jim Crow era. Graham criticized Biden and Democrats for their opposition to the filibuster, given both the president's and the party's advocacy to retain the...

Americans are breaking with Joe Biden over key issues within his administration. An ABC News/ISPOS poll released Sunday found a majority of Americans disapprove of Biden’s handling gun violence nationwide. The poll found more than 57 percent of participants did not approve of Biden’s plan to lower gun violence. This comes as Biden has said his administration is looking into ways to restrict gun ownership. However, several lawmakers have said his plans for gun ownership are far too selective.

Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham defended the right to own assault weapons, declaring he had an AR-15 and he was prepared to use it to defend his home. Graham, a conservative Republican who was a close ally of Donald Trump on Capitol Hill, said owned the deadly weapon to fight off any gangs that would come to his neighborhood in the event of a natural disaster in his home state. 'I own an AR-15. If there's a natural disaster in South Carolina where the cops can't protect my neighborhood, my house will be the last one that the gang will come...

Two grand juries have been convened in Georgia to investigate if Donald Trump tried to manipulate the general election. Jurors in the secret proceedings are to be asked to subpoena documents and recordings for the investigation 'in the very near future,' Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis told The Daily Beast. Three cases have been referred to Fani Willis' office by the Secretary of State - including to probe the infamous phone call in which Trump told the Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to 'find' 11,780 votes.

Fifteen jurors, four of whom are Black and two of whom are multiracial, were chosen during a weeks-long jury selection process earlier this month. The trial is expected to span two to four weeks at the heavily secured Hennepin County Government Center in downtown Minneapolis, after which the jury will launch into deliberations. Judge Peter Cahill is limiting attendees in the courtroom due to COVID-19 concerns and is allowing for the proceedings to be televised, a rarity in the state.

Oxford University is considering proposals that would remove sheet music from its curriculum over claims that the Western form of musical notation has roots in “colonialism” and “complicity in white supremacy”. In response to widespread Black Lives Matter riots in the United Kingdom, music educators at Oxford have joined the wider iconoclastic movement which has been sweeping through British academia. The music department at the prestigious and ancient university has seen calls to remove music notation from the curriculum as professors seek to focus less on white European heritage and culture. The woke educators went on to claim that musical...

The Jack London I learned about in grade school was a seafaring adventurer. High school teachers taught me about his prolific pen and penchant for weaving together intoxicating descriptions of elemental sensations. It wasn’t until adulthood that I realized London was more complicated than his reputation. While he was noted for being a progressive socialist, London was also adept at dystopian race-baiting and published horribly xenophobic prose, including about Asian people. Some of his writing also revealed an affinity for white supremacy.

Sports car maker Porsche has said the e-fuel it is currently developing in South America should open the legislative door for combustion engine vehicles to remain on sale beyond 2030. The UK, along with a number of other nations including Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden, intends to ban the sale of new petrol and diesel models from 2030, as part of growing efforts to reduce air pollution and make transport greener. However, Porsche bosses said banning the engines is the wrong decision and law makers should prohibit the burning of fossil fuels but allow for synthetic fuels to maintain...
