A few weeks ago in our Last Call column, we asked you what your favorite peanut butter and jelly sandwich combinations were. And honestly, I was surprised at the sheer volume of answers we received, putting my wheat bread/Skippy Natural/store-brand grape jelly combo to complete shame. Some of you suggested tortillas, alternative nut butters, fruit, all sorts of jams and jellies, and even different cooking styles. While I don’t eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches super often, your answers reminded me that a good old PB&J can be a really great thing, not only when you’re in a hurry, but...

I see the rim. I see the rim. A quarter century later, Bob Scrabis can still see the rim. Seven seconds remained in that first round 1989 NCAA tournament game between Princeton and Georgetown when Scrabis, the Tigers’ captain and lone senior, raised up to shoot the basketball. Before the game Scrabis’ own coach, the chronic pessimist Pete Carril, had set the betting line. “I think we’re a billion-to-one to win the whole tournament,” he said. “To beat Georgetown, we’re only 450 million to one.” Yet Carril’s 16th-seeded Princeton Tigers trailed the Hoyas, the most dominant and polarizing brand in...

This debris is composed of parts of old satellites as well as entire defunct satellites and rocket bodies. The debris poses risks to the International Space Station and threatens things we take for granted on Earth -- weather forecasting, GPS and telecommunications. It's a problem that's getting worse with more and more satellites being launched each year by ventures like Elon Musk's SpaceX. A demonstration mission to test new technology developed by the company Astroscale to clean up space debris is set to launch in the early hours of Saturday from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. A Soyuz 2 rocket...

JAG Writes: God has a saving-plan for the world. Humanity is in serious death-trouble due to the entrance of sin and sin's death worldwide. Not even the Jewish Law {Moses} could defeat Death and bring Eternal Life. But God is the kind of Person that will go straight into the pain to rescue others with a plan to rescue humanity from Sin and Death through the crucifixion-death and Resurrection of His Son the Lord Jesus. The Lord Jesus has conquered Sin and Death for us all. Because He lives, we too can live. Eternal Life has been brought to this...

“Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped” (Philippians 2:5-6). Christ’s coming to earth is the supreme example to us of humility. We can usually identify with what someone else has experienced when we have gone through the same thing. Even if we haven’t been through what the other person has, we can perhaps relate because we might someday have a similar experience. However, it is much harder to comprehend what Christ experienced when He stooped from...

In the midst of this worldwide “shaking of all things,” what is God’s great concern in all of this? The Bible tells us God’s vision is trained on his children: “Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him, on those who hope in His mercy” (Psalm 33:18). Our Lord is aware of every move on the earth, by every living thing. And yet his gaze is focused primarily on the well-being of his children. He fixes his eyes on the pains and needs of each member of his spiritual body. Simply put, whatever hurts us concerns...

Priest who presided over Biden inauguration Mass under investigationA priest who presided over an inaugural Mass for President Biden in January is under investigation for inappropriate behavior. Santa Clara University said in a statement on Monday that an independent investigation is being conducted into the school's president, Father Kevin O’Brien.John Sobrato, chairman of Santa Clara University’s Board of Trustees, said the school was informed by the Provincial of the USA West Province that it received accounts that O’Brien “exhibited behaviors in adult settings, consisting primarily of conversations, which may be inconsistent with established Jesuit protocols and boundaries.” O’Brien was placed...

The company I currently work for uses Symantec Cyber Security. After giving up the Drudge Report, I started using Liberty Net Daily. This Friday (LND) was blocked (Drudge is not). When asked why, they gave some BS activism response. To their biasing credit, they also banned DU. For the last several years I don't log into FreeRepublic from work computers but lurk all day long. Just wondering how long it will be until we come up on the list and does anyone have a plan for if it does?

Paul told Carlson Friday that Fauci presented "no scientific evidence" to make the case for wearing masks after people have been vaccinated. "There was Dr. Fauci's opinion, his conjecture that someday there might be a [coronavirus] variant that escapes the control of the vaccine and becomes a pandemic and hospitalizes and kills people," he said. "But there is no evidence it has happened. He thinks it might happen, so you need to wear the mask until he's sure that things that might happen are not going to happen." Paul went on to describe Fauci as "unconcerned about liberty", adding that...

Just before the 2022 mid-terms. Maybe tie it to some castrated version of Halloween – Yes, you can walk around wearing costumes, but no touching neighbors. Maybe pair it with a parade in selected cites, just like those the USSR used to throw in Moscow’s Red Square. The plan is to make a glorious announcement, a stupendous (sterile) celebration of how the Democratic National (strike that, “nation” is a bad word) Democratic Native-peoples Communist party defeated the previous administration’s pandemic. Emphasize that, not Covid, “his/its” pandemic. After all, all the trouble was not the fault of our (not brothers/sisters) …uhhh…allies...

"Spring... arrive(d) on Saturday morning (March 20) with the occurrence of the vernal equinox. That occurs when the sun will be positioned directly over the Earth's equator at 09:37 Universal Time; 5:37 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time or 2:37 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time." snip "Every year around this time, almost like clockwork, I will get an email from someone who was studying the weather page of his or her newspaper, looking at the section listing the times of sunrise and sunset and noticing that something appears to be wrong."

GOP rallies around meat industry in response to attack by Colorado's Jared Polis... The red meat wars have hit America. Republican governors representing heartland states are uniting in support of the cattle industry in response to calls from Jared Polis, the Democratic governor of Colorado, to move his state away from eating meat. The herd of Republican governors of Nebraska, Iowa, Wyoming, and Montana has taken issue with Polis's call for Saturday, March 20, to be observed as "MeatOut Day," during which residents are asked to replace meat with a plant-based alternative. All four Republican governors issued proclamations in response,...

The time of the President and Cabinet has been mostly employed yesterday and to day upon the question of the evacuation of Fort Sumpter. No order has yet been issued. The matter is in the hands of the President. A Cabinet majority favors an evacuation. The President was compelled to close his morning levee to-day in consequence of pressing business. CHAS. HOWE was nominated and confirmed as Collector at Key West, Fla. The Commissioners under the recent claims treaties with New-Granada and Costa Rica were nominated to-day. E.W. LEAVENWORTH, of New-York, is Commissioner under the former, and CALVIN HUSON, Jr.,...

The Federal Reserve says it will restore capital requirements for large banks that were relaxed as part of the Fed’s efforts to shore up the financial system during the early days of the pandemic. The Fed said it will not extend the relief from what is called the supplementary leverage ratio past March 31. The easing of the regulation had been intended to give banks flexibility in what assets they could hold to meet regulatory' requirements during the turmoil of the pandemic, when banks were having to suddenly write down billions of dollars of loans. The banking industry had lobbied...

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio was surrounded and heckled on Friday night during a vigil held to mourn the victims of the Georgia massage parlor shootings and discourage anti-Asian violence. The scene came a day after de Blasio had urged people who experienced racist events to report them to the police, even if they didn't rise to the level of a crime that could be prosecuted. It wasn't clear what people in attendance were demanding of de Blasio, who has spoken out against anti-Asian sentiment and did again at the vigil, which was held at New York's Union...

Las Vegas conventions are coming back in 2021 and attracting major speakers — including at least one former president. Financial services firm Carson Group announced Friday that President George W. Bush is on the special guest list for its annual conference, Excell 2021. The event is set to take place Oct. 12-14 at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. The convention had originally been slated for June of 2020 but was pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The upcoming show will be offered as both an in-person and a virtual event. Bush’s conversation is titled, “The Challenges Facing Our Nation...

A federal appeals court judge in his dissenting opinion in a defamation case on Friday accused The New York Times and The Washington Post of being “Democratic Party broadsheets.” Washington, D.C. Circuit Senior Judge Laurence Silberman, who was appointed by former President Reagan, argued in his opinion that the news industry at large is dominated with a “bias against the Republican Party” that he wrote was “rather shocking.” While the case did not specifically relate to either paper, the judge used his opinion to argue that the Times and Post served largely as mouthpieces for the Democratic Party, adding “the...
