President Biden has omitted Dr. Seuss from Read Across America Day which is always held on March 2nd, the same day as the children's author's birthday. Biden continued a presidential tradition by making a proclamation that declared Tuesday to be Read Across America Day, but he broke the tradition of his predecessors by leaving out any mention of Dr. Seuss. Both former President Barack Obama and former President Donald Trump both recognized Dr. Seuss' contributions several times in their proclamations each year.

President Trump signed an executive order declaring a national emergency in the mining industry, ordering the Interior Department to increase domestic production of rare-earth materials to reduce the country’s dependence on China. The order states, “our Nation’s undue reliance on critical minerals, in processed or unprocessed form, from foreign adversaries constitutes an unusual and extraordinary threat, which has its source in substantial part outside the United States, to the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States. I hereby declare a national emergency to deal with that threat.” The US imported 80 percent of its rare-earth materials and...

With Joe Biden, a strong advocate of strict gun control, in the White House, Democrats are hoping to enact radical gun control legislation that would eviscerate the Second Amendment. On January 4, 2021, the day after the swearing in of the new Congress, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee introduced a bill (H.R. 127) entitled the "Sabika Sheikh Firearm Licensing and Registration Act.” Her bill is named after a Pakistani exchange student who was killed in a mass shooting at a Texas school in 2018. The bill would require the federal licensing of firearm and ammunition possession under the jurisdiction of the...

The actual Christian population of Tamil Nadu today is roughly 12 per cent of the state’s population, or 9.45 million people. This is twice the official reported percentage of 6 per cent. How did we arrive at this number? The 2011 Census of India said Christians in Tamil Nadu officially numbered 44 lakh. However, if one were to go by the large numbers of Christian religious edifices and the dominance of Christians in media, Tamil cinema, and the government machinery, one suspects that this number must be higher.

I wrote earlier about the mess that Joe Biden is fast making of dealing with illegal immigration and how his DHS secretary doesn’t appear to have the first idea about what’s going on or how they are encouraging a surge. But the folks in the border areas know and they’re not at all happy about it. They’re speaking out and now even the Democrats are warning about the danger of Joe Biden’s policies. Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX), a moderate, warned against easing up on illegal aliens, pointing to the effect on Texans, local hospitals and the concerns about spreading the...

We’ve been reporting on Joe Biden’s issues, Democrats have been trying to avoid talking about them. But what are some of the folks in the rest of the world thinking about him? A sharply-split Republican State Committee in Pennsylvania voted Monday night to again express its displeasure with Sen. Pat Toomey’s vote last month to convict former President Donald J. Trump on an article of impeachment, but stopped short of voting to censure him. Committee members were given the choice of voting for a statement proposed by Chairman Lawrence Tabas that “strongly rebukes but does not censure” Toomey, and a second statement that does censure him. The censure movement was blocked by a narrow 128-124 margin, with 13 abstentions, according to a source who had been briefed on the results. The difference...

The U.S. has hit a plateau in coronavirus cases and deaths that signal a "potential shift in the trajectory of the pandemic," the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warned states on Monday not to loosen restrictions and get in front of the progress the country has made since it hit a monumental 300,000 cases a day in January, the worst point of the pandemic so far. Over the last week, the daily number of cases and deaths, on average, has risen by about 2% compared to the week prior, CDC Director Rochelle Walensky said during a...

Moderna has manufactured and shipped samples of its vaccine targeting the South African coronavirus variant to the National Institutes of Health for human clinical trials, the company said in a news release. Moderna says its two-dose vaccine does not work as well against the coronavirus variant first detected in South Africa as it does against the first form of the coronavirus. The South African variant has spread around the world, with a few cases found in the United States. “We look forward to beginning the clinical study of our variant booster and are grateful for the NIH’s continued collaboration to...

WASHINGTON—The Chinese communist regime has recently signaled that it could leverage its dominance in rare earth minerals, raising alarm bells in the United States. The threat has prompted the Biden administration to take action to reduce U.S. reliance on China for rare earth metals that are used in everything from smartphones to electric vehicles to fighter jets. In 1992, Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping predicted the importance of rare earths to China’s future when he famously said, “The Middle East has oil. China has rare earths.” Today, China is the dominant global supplier of rare earths, a group of 17 chemical...

MSNBC host Joy Reid has declared NBA star LeBron James to be “today’s equivalent of Muhammad Ali,” in recognition of his social justice activism. Reid took to Twitter to lionize the billionaire basketball player and put him on par with Ali, a man who truly fought for civil rights. But to make her tweet even more absurd, she added a clip of fictional superhero Black Panther to it, apparently sending the signal that James is a “hero.” “‘ll say it again. LeBron James is today’s Muhammad Ali and Bill Russell, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Glad he has that platform. Keep speaking,...

Respect for America during the national anthem is now optional, according to U.S. Soccer, but questioning that decision is not. The U.S. Soccer Federation acted Saturday at its annual meeting to rescind a rule passed in 2017 that required all players to stand for the anthem. The federation’s board of directors had approved the change last year, but it needed to be approved at the meeting to take effect. Seventy-one percent of those attending the virtual meeting backed the change, according to Fox News. Prior to the vote, Seth Jahn, 38, spoke at length against the proposal. Jahn played for...

A Democratic lawmaker has joined the chorus of Republicans upset with President Joe Biden’s immigration policies, saying his Texas district would be severely affected. “We’re in the middle of a pandemic, but for thousands of people to be reaching our border in the middle of a pandemic in a disorderly fashion would be catastrophic to my district,” Rep. Vicente Gonzalez (D-Texas) said on March 1 during an appearance on CNN, as border arrivals have spiked after dropping precipitously during the Trump administration. “I have lost over 3,000 citizens to COVID in my southern border district. I still have over 1,000...
