The actual Christian population of Tamil Nadu today is roughly 12 per cent of the state’s population, or 9.45 million people.
This is twice the official reported percentage of 6 per cent. How did we arrive at this number?
The 2011 Census of India said Christians in Tamil Nadu officially numbered 44 lakh.
However, if one were to go by the large numbers of Christian religious edifices and the dominance of Christians in media, Tamil cinema, and the government machinery, one suspects that this number must be higher.
“...Christians in Tamil Nadu officially numbered 44 lakh...”

Do what, now?
A Lakh is an Indian unit of measurement equal to 100,000.
4.4 million
It’s related to the Smoot* unit of measurement.
* obscure MIT joke that made me laugh back in college.
The priest in my Mom’s local parish is from Tamil Nadu. Most priests in this part of Canada are now from India, Africa or the Philippines. These men are very conservative in their Faith, and have little in common with Francis and his cabal of homosexual clerics that have damaged the Church. Persecution has always been the source of the deepest Christian faith. When the Church became wealthy and complicit with the state, corruption and lethargy ensued. Rome is a crumbling edifice. The real Church lives in the hearts of Christians who face persecution and even death in countries such as China, middle east, India.
