More adult Americans are identifying as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender. A Gallup poll found that 5.6% of adults described themselves as LGBT in 2020, up from 4.5% in 2017.

...“While masks are widely available in many different shapes and sizes, many low-income Americans still lack affordable access to this basic protection,” Zients argued. The initiative will involve “more than 25 million” “well-fitting cloth masks available in children’s and adult sizes” at “more than 1,300 community health centers and at 60,000 food pantries nationwide.” Medical advice on masks has vacillated during the COVID-19 pandemic. The CDC has recommended different kinds of masks. In this context, CNN’s Jeremy Diamond asked a rather important question. “Just lastly on the question of the mask shipments, I’m wondering how much it is costing the...

“‘Follow Me’: The Call to Discipleship” (Mark 1:14-20) Today we begin a series of four messages based on the four “Follow me” sayings of Jesus in the Gospel of Mark. “Follow me”: In saying those words, Jesus was calling people back then to be his disciples. “Follow me”: Jesus is still saying those words to us today. He is calling us to be his disciples. So hear him now, as Jesus says to each one of us: “Follow Me.” Our first entry in this midweek series has to do precisely with “The Call to Discipleship.” We hear it in our...

Virginia — whose state capital Richmond was once the capital of the Confederacy — is about to become the first state in the South to declare racism a public health crisis. The state Senate approved the declaration Tuesday and sent it to Gov. Ralph Northam — who’s expected to sign it. It had previously passed the House of Delegates on an almost party-line vote, with Democrats voting overwhelmingly in favor. The American Public Health Association says 145 cities and counties in 27 states have declared racism a public health issue — up from just seven in 2019. Virginia lawmakers also...

...Like it or not, we live in a police state, controlled by an increasingly authoritarian regime with near-total electronic surveillance. The national security apparatus views conservatives and free-thinkers as domestic terrorists, and there are now more military deployed in our nation’s capital than in war zones overseas. If America were any other country, it would be considered a non-permissive environment—not a free country. The pundit class recommends midterm elections and unifying the GOP as remedies, but they ignore the real elephant in the room—representative government is not representing us. While conservative and independent voices are censored and banned from the...

Health chiefs in Belgium are concerned that 15 million fabric masks given to pharmacists may be toxic and cause pneumonia. According to a preliminary report carried out by Sciensano, the Belgian Institute for Public Health, the masks contain nanoparticles of silver and titanium dioxide that when inhaled could damage the respiratory tract. The face masks were made in Asia by Luxembourg-based company Avrox.

The “Flynn Effect” is the phenomenon identified by intelligence researcher James Flynn. He found that average intelligence quotients, or IQ’s, as measured by standardized tests were steadily increasing through the course of the 20th century. That sounds quite natural because, after all, each generation gets better nurturing. They get better health, improved medical care, more nutritious food and greater schooling. But IQ is supposed to be mainly about nature, not nurture. Nurturing can certainly affect a person’s well-being, but in theory it doesn’t change a person’s IQ much (except of course when the nurturing is so bad that it produces...

They got it. The full 18-minute video that leaked laid out a much more complex scenario than had been portrayed, but that didn’t change the simplistic media messaging. George Floyd was incorrectly turned into a martyr and folk hero, despite being a violent criminal offender who was resisting arrest and had previously held a pregnant woman at gunpoint. He was also a heavy drug user who was high on multiple different drugs.100 Percent Fed Up – Two days after MN Police Officer Derek Chauvin was charged with 3rd-degree murder, and former MN Police Officers Thomas Lane, J. Alexander Kueng, and...

Not a momentous change numerically, but maybe an important one politically. Via Pew: About six-in-ten Americans (61%) now say K-12 schools that are not currently open for any in-person instruction should give a lot of consideration to the possibility that students will fall behind academically when deciding whether to reopen. In July 2020, 48% said this should be given a lot of consideration as schools made decisions about whether to open for in-person instruction in the fall. The shares saying schools should give a lot of consideration to the risk to teachers (48%) or students (45%) of getting or spreading...

....Many “ordinary people,” writes former police officer Jack Dunphy, have “for nearly a year… been conditioned to submit.” But a combination of anecdotal and hard statistical evidence would strongly suggest that voluntary and even enthusiastic compliance is a far more significant factor. A recent IPSOS Reid poll reports that 93 percent of Canadians “say they are doing their best to abide by public health recommendations regarding Covid-19,” and that more Canadians “are wearing a protective mask than was the case just a few months ago.” Americans seem only marginally less passive and deferential than Canadians. According to the Tampa Bay...

The media is now using a report from a Defense contractor to establish the notion that there was no election fraud in the 2020 election. Here’s why they are wrong.A report is being passed around by Big Media that claims due to a study that there was no election fraud in the 2020 election. The Washington Times reported on it:A research nonprofit says it did an extensive examination of 2020 voting data in eight swing states and concluded “evidence of fraud or compromise was not found.”The highly technical 43-page study was produced by The MITRE Corp. and its National Election Security...

President Joe Biden revoked seven executive orders on Feb. 24 issued by President Donald Trump between 2017 and 2021. The White House offered no explanation for the revocation in its formal press release. Bidenâs action revoked one of the first executive actions Trump signed upon taking officeâan executive order titled Core Principles for Regulating the United States Financial System. The order set out the Trump administrationâs policy on financial regulation, with the first listed goal to âempower Americans to make independent financial decisions and informed choices in the marketplace, save for retirement, and build individual wealth.â

California’s Assembly is slated to consider a new bill requiring department store childrens’ sections to be largely “gender-neutral” in order to combat “prejudice” and “judgment” against gender non-conforming children. “Large retailers that sell toys, clothes, and other children’s items in California would have to devote floor space to merchandise marketed to both boys and girls under a new bill,” Politico reported earlier this week. “Stores would be able to sell the same products they do now as long as they maintain some areas where shoppers can find all toys or clothes, regardless of gender-based marketing, under CA AB2826 (19R) from...

In an op-ed published in the New York Daily News, Hinton described Cuomo as a "bully" who exercised "total control," and made disparaging comments toward her. Hinton's statements came on the same day that former Cuomo aide Lindsey Boylan accused the governor of sexually harassing her and amid additional accusations that Cuomo bullies and harasses those he disagrees with.... Hinton also said that Cuomo belittled her previous experience working for Mike Espy, who later became a Democratic Mississippi congressman. "He told me I had only worked for a 'Black man from a small town in Mississippi' and, therefore, wasn't qualified...

Accusations of "white privilege" or just "whiteness" are the latest lefty version of calling someone a "reactionary bourgeois capitalist pig" for demanding their rights. The more powerful the Left became, the less it mattered whether their targets were in any way capitalist or bourgeois. The Democrats control Los Angeles and California. And so the response of their union to Latino parents demanding that schools be reopened is "white privilege". When Los Angeles parent Cynthia Rojas heard that federal experts and local health authorities said elementary campuses could reopen, she was ecstatic. But then reality hit her: Campuses in the L.A....

A California school district is promoting a black-only parent meeting that calls for black parents to have a larger influence on the curriculum that is taught in schools. The Val Verde Unified School District is promoting a seven-part black-only event for parents to share their experiences and give input into how the district should alter its curriculum. The segregated events will take place throughout the spring 2021 academic year. -snip According to a Val Verde Unified School District teacher — who wishes to remain anonymous — the district is already embedding ethnic studies classes into 11th-grade U.S. History classes and...

Dr. Anthony Fauci’s interventions continue to lose coherence and connection from reality. We are now at the point where Fauci seems to be implying that normality will never come back, and where reasonable people may draw the inference that getting vaccinated is vaguely socially irresponsible. Take his comments this week, from a report at Business Insider: “There are things, even if you’re vaccinated, that you’re not going to be able to do in society,” Fauci said on Monday during a White House COVID-19 press briefing. “For example, indoor dining, theaters, places where people congregate. That’s because of the safety of...

A study has found a scientific link between low levels of intelligence and those who express homophobic views. The findings, published by researchers at the University of Queensland, Australia, supports existing studies that have previously drawn correlations between having a low IQ and holding prejudiced views. However, this marks the first time a link between lower intelligence and homophobia has been examined in populations outside of the US. Published in the journal Intelligence, the study drew from a sample of more than 11,500 Australians. The research team analysed data from the 2012 Household, Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia (HILDA)...

Republicans won a clean sweep of national fundraising battles in January, outpacing their Democratic counterparts across the board in their first month as the minority in Washington, D.C. New financial disclosures show that the Republican National Committee, as well as the Republican campaign arms for the House and Senate, built a financial advantage over their Democratic rivals last month. The RNC led the way with a $16.3 million haul in January, roughly $3 million more than the $13.5 million raised by the DNC. The National Republican Senatorial Committee raised $8.3 million, compared with $6 million by the Democratic Senatorial Campaign...
