In his State of the State address, Gov. Andrew Cuomo touted the $306 billion in current and proposed infrastructure projects around New York that he said would revitalize the economy after COVID-19 shut down businesses and non-essential construction. In his Jan. 14 speech, the governor said a total $51 billion was being spent for projects to revive Manhattan's Midtown West neighborhoods, citing potential new projects as well as those well into planning. That figure includes the $1.6 billion Moynihan Train Hall, which opened Jan. 1; the $1.5 billion Jacob K. Javits Center expansion, expected to be completed this year; and...

In a new updated edition of his book Hate Inc.: Why Today’s Media Makes Us Despise One Another, journalist Matt Taibbi offers a term for a new practice of the corrupt mainstream media: bombholing.Bombholing is the practice of splashing wild and unsubstantiated stories all over the media. Then sending those same stories down the memory hole when they don’t pan out. Finally, media immediately distract viewers and readers with a new “bombshell,” which makes people forget the old “bombshell.” Viewers are led “from mania to mania.” Goaded into focusing on today’s outrage, people quickly forget the previous “bombshell,” which was...

Activists don’t want so much of Chicago’s $1.2 billion in relief going to cops, even to reimburse them. The revelation that Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot spent $281.5 million in federal COVID-19 relief funds on personnel costs for the Chicago Police Department is prompting outrage from local activists and citizens alike. “We asked for assurances they wouldn’t spend it all on police,” Alderman Daniel La Spata said Wednesday. “That’s the last thing people wanted, to infuse hundreds of millions more dollars into the police department right now.” The figure came to light after Lightfoot asked for City Council approval to transfer...

Appearing at a friendly CNN town hall event this week, President Joe Biden dropped a string of untruths on issues both large and small. One of the president's most egregious falsehoods was the claim that "we didn't have (the vaccine) when we came into office." The first shot was administered back on Dec. 14, 2020. Glenn Kessler, lead fact-checker for The Washington Post, quickly jumped into action on Twitter, explaining that this was merely a "verbal stumble, a typical Biden gaffe, as he had already mentioned 50 million doses being available when he took office. Former Trump officials should especially...

With more than 40 million Americans having received at least the first dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, a third dose may be needed to prevent the spread of new variants of the disease, Bill Gates told CBS News Tuesday. Gates’ comments come amid growing concern that the current vaccines are not effective against the more contagious Brazilian and South African variants.Pfizer and Moderna have stated that their vaccines are 95% and 99% effective, respectively, against the initial strain of COVID. However, some scientists have questioned those statements. Additionally, the World Health Organization and vaccine companies have conceded that...

The legacy media is losing its ability to present plausible distractions from news stories it doesn’t want to cover. If Cuomo didn’t offer a future presidential prospect, he would surely be someone to throw under the bus. He’s a gubernatorial Biden — a shameless clown devoid of credibility or competence who represents everything regular Americans despise about the political class. Cuomo is the very picture of our coastal elites: his success owes almost completely to the name he inherited from his father Vito, er, Mario Cuomo and his membership in the ruling-class club. Cuomo spouts all of the pieties of the...

The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra publicly admonished its principal flutist for her conspiracy-laden social media posts about COVID-19 and fraud in November’s presidential election. The orchestra tweeted that it does not condone the “words or sentiments” expressed in the posts on the personal social media accounts of flutist Emily Skala. “Ms. Skala does not speak for the BSO, nor do her statements reflect the core values or code of conduct grounded in humanity and respect,” orchestra officials announced. The orchestra released the statement after being alerted to Skala’s posts by other social media users. Facebook had flagged Skala’s posts for containing...

WILLIAMSPORT — Shane Burkett has been watching the Interstate 81 Potomac River bridge work from the cab of a tractor-trailer. Now that the new third lanes are open in each direction, the semi driver likes what he sees. "I think it's great. I-81 is a massive highway. ... It's a big help having that third lane now," the Williamsport resident said. The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration formally announced completion of the $104.6 million project Thursday. The work, which has been years in the making, widened the interstate from two lanes to three lanes in each direction from...

A new study from renowned University of Hamburg researcher Roland Wiesendanger concludes the Wuhan Institute of Virology was the “cause” of COVID-19.The February study argues against two prevailing theories that COVID-19 was transmitted to humans either via a wet market or a lab accident.“To date, there is no scientifically based rigorous evidence for either mentioned theories,” Wiesendanger, a three-time recipient of the prestigious European Research Council grant.Wiesendanger’s 105-page report continues, asking: “is the current global crisis actually the result of a coincidence in nature – a coincidental mutation of a coronavirus a bat with the assistance of an intermediate host...

President Joe Biden’s plan to pack the United States labor market with millions of newly legalized illegal aliens and more legal immigrants would bring already deported illegal aliens back to the U.S. to apply for amnesty. Biden’s plan, formally introduced in Congress on Thursday by Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ), would give amnesty to the roughly 11 to 22 million illegal aliens living in the U.S. today. In addition, the plan increases legal immigration levels beyond the current 1.2 million green card annual admissions. Most significantly, the plan would provide amnesty to illegal aliens who were already deported from the U.S....

Liberals spent much of the last 2 days trashing Rush Limbaugh, so it was no surprise that National Review would join in. NR now stands for Never Rush.Michael Brendan Dougherty wrote what his fellow NR-er Jim Geraghty said was a tribute to Mister Limbaugh. They are really weird over there.Dougherty's column -- "Rush’s Place" -- was subtitled, "Rush’s program, beamed into cars sitting in traffic across the nation, was a beacon telling millions of people, ‘You are not alone.’ It was also a turnoff for millions of others."Fact check: OF COURSE.Limbaugh turned off every freaking liberal in America. That was...

Here’s what a U.S. senator does: Make laws, authorize and appropriate federal funds, provide for the common defense and the general welfare, regulate commerce among the states and with foreign nations, declare war and maintain and regulate the military, impeach federal officers including the president, advise and consent to treaties and appointments of judges and federal officials. For the record, a U.S. senator doesn’t do anything when a snowstorm hits his or her home state. If they happen to be home at the time, maybe they can help their neighbor shovel the driveway. And sure, they can press the White House...

A new bill making its way through the New Mexico Statehouse would stop fracking permits from being issued in the state. Senate Bill 149 would enact a four year moratorium on new fracking permits. An industry group says that will lead to the loss of upwards of 2-billion dollars in revenue just in one year. The bill has passed the Senate Conservation Committee on a split 5-4 vote. Bernalillo County Democrats Antoinette Sedillo Lopez and Roybal Cabellero are co-sponsoring the bill.
