A report from July of 2019 indicates Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell received thousands of dollars in donations from lobbyists for two of the largest electronic voting machine vendors in the United States – Election Systems & Software and Dominion Voting Systems. Newsweek reported on the donations in noting that McConnell (R-KY) had squashed two separate bills in the Senate addressing election security. The reports were based on an investigation by an outlet called ‘Sludge.’ “Several of the lobbyists working for ES&S and Dominion Voting Systems have recently made contributions to McConnell’s campaign and joint fundraising committee,” Sludge wrote.

...The culprits were not merely the usual suspects — the Adam Schiffs and Eric Swallwells and their ilk. As profoundly and obviously corrupt as they are, they are weak. They could not have pulled this off without some heavyweight criminals in high places, including the courts, the premier law enforcement agencies, the intelligence bureaus, and the private sector communications companies...

I'm a pandemic skeptic. I know that the Wuhan virus is real and dangerous for some people. Still, I cannot get excited about a disease with an average 99% survival rate. I believe that the Democrats weaponized the virus to defeat President Trump, and I think Democrats are still working the virus to weaken working- and middle-class Americans (i.e., Trump-supporters) while enriching the Democrats' corporate cronies. I'm cynical, paranoid, or a realist — or all three. This weekend, information emerged supporting my viewpoint. We keep being told that Americans are dying like flies, far in excess of their normal numbers....

President Donald Trump on Wednesday told Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) that it’s too early to stop fighting to overturn the election after the longtime Kentucky senator congratulated Joe Biden following the Electoral College vote. “Mitch, 75,000,000 VOTES, a record for a sitting President (by a lot),” Trump wrote to McConnell, underscoring the amount of support he has from Americans. It’s “too soon to give up,” Trump continued. The “Republican Party must finally learn to fight,” he said. “People are angry!” The remarks were shared alongside a Daily Mail article about Republicans turning on McConnell after he made his...

Top Medical Journal: No Sex Designation on Birth CertificatesThe New England Journal of Medicine continues its hard swing toward wokeness. Now, it has published an advocacy article that would remove sex designation as an identifiable factor on birth certificates. From, “Failed Assignments: Rethinking Sex Designations on Birth Certificates”:Assigning sex at birth also doesn’t capture the diversity of people’s experiences. About 6 in 1000 people identify as transgender, meaning that their gender identity doesn’t match the sex they were assigned at birth. Others are nonbinary, meaning they don’t exclusively identify as a man or a woman, or gender nonconforming, meaning their...

As the battle over budget cuts that could lead to layoffs for hundreds of police officers heats up, LAPD’s rank-and-file union is planning to raise $10 million to target political candidates and legislation it opposes. The Los Angeles Police Protective League last week sent ballots to around 9,800 rank-and-file officers to vote on whether to take $22 out of each paycheck over the next two years to contribute to the union’s political fights. The ballots are expected to be counted around the end of the month. According to the union’s campaign flyer, much of the fund — dubbed the “Protecting...

On this date in 1952, Steve Suchan and Lennie Jackson were hanged at Toronto’s Don Jail for the murder of a policeman. Both Such and Jackson were members of the Boyd Gang, a swashbuckling troupe of show-stealing bank robbers in post-World War II Toronto … but in the timeless mold of the folk hero outlaws. Not hanged with them (or ever; he died in British Columbia in 2002) was the gang’s leader and namesake, Edwin Alonzo Boyd. The wartime commando legendarily launched his stick-up career by robbing a bank so unrecognizably made-up that he was able to walk back in...

Amajority of registered U.S. voters are worried that government officials in the U.S. will retain their newly claimed expansive powers following the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a new Just the News Daily Poll with Scott Rasmussen. Sixty-two percent of the respondents said they were somewhat or very worried about American governments holding onto their pandemic powers after the health crisis finally subsides. Just 32% were unconcerned with that prospect....

Public schools reported a decrease in the number of students for the first time in 30 years, many of them in early grades. Enrollment in Colorado public schools dropped by close to 30,000 students this school year — the first year-to-year decrease the state’s public school system has reported in more than 30 years. ... The overall drop in enrollment equates to a 3.3% decrease, with some of Colorado’s 178 school districts suffering dips of nearly 10% from enrollment during the 2019-20 school year. That could have serious consequences for the state’s public education system and districts budgets, which are...

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, a Democrat, signed legislation on Tuesday prohibiting the sale of Confederate flags on public property, including at state and local fairs. Cuomo was well aware that such legislation is likely to fail a First Amendment test, but this did not deter him. "This country faces a pervasive, growing attitude of intolerance and hate—what I have referred to in the body politic as an American cancer," he wrote. "By limiting the display and sale of the confederate flag, Nazi swastika and other symbols of hatred from being displayed or sold on state property, including the state...

President-elect Joe Biden on Wednesday mangled his rollout of Pete Buttigieg as the “first” gay Cabinet nominee — using a female name for Buttigieg’s husband and omitting mention of President Trump having named the first gay Cabinet-level member. Biden noted his fondness for Buttigieg’s husband “Kirsten” during a speech in Wilmington, Del., as he formally named the former South Bend, Indiana, mayor as his nominee for transportation secretary. Biden also snubbed Ric Grenell, who Trump celebrated this year as the first gay Cabinet member when he worked three months as acting Director of National Intelligence.

I can only speak for myself, but after the historic awfulness of 2020, I’d appreciate a gift of great whiskey wrapped up in a bow. I suspect I’m not alone. So I made sure my annual tradition of suggesting several bottles for the holidays was undertaken this year with extra rigor and, of course, adhering to stringent social distancing guidelines for my team of tasters to sniff, sip, and banter our way through the 30-plus candidates to land on this final list of 16. One of the largest ceramic oil-lamp workshops in Israel has been discovered by Israel Antiquities Authority excavations in Beit Shemesh. Hundreds of ceramic oil lamps, two bearing symbols of the menorah and stone lamp molds for their production were found along with terracotta figurines which were made about 1600–1700 years ago. In the past few months, the Israel Antiquities Authority excavations aided by dozens of pre-military program students. It’s official: Longtime Republican strategist Steve Schmidt is a Democrat. He told “Battleground” podcast co-host David Plouffe Monday night that he’ll change his party affiliation. ... Schmidt has enjoyed a long career in Republican electoral politics. He ran day-to-day operations for John McCain’s failed presidential effort in 2008, served as communications director for Lamar Alexander’s failed presidential primary bid in 1999, directed communications for Matt Fong’s failed California Senate race in 1998, and that same year headed up Tim Leslie’s failed attempt to become Lt. Governor of California. In 1995, Schmidt managed the failed campaign of Will Scott for Kentucky...
