The first thing to notice about Texas’s desperation lawsuit, which seeks to overturn the result of the 2020 presidential election, is what does not appear on the front page: the name of the state’s solicitor general, Kyle Hawkins. The lawsuit is brought against four other states — Pennsylvania, Georgia, Michigan, and Wisconsin — that have certified Joe Biden as the winner of their electoral votes. Thus, Texas attorney general Ken Paxton invokes the original jurisdiction of the United States Supreme Court to hear disputes between states. Yet the brief is not signed by the lawyer who typically represents Texas before...

He has finally been charged after his condition improved enough to be questioned by police. Although November has come and gone, control of the U.S. Senate is still up in the air. In what are perhaps the most consequential run-off elections in modern U.S. political history, Democrats Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock will try to unseat Republican incumbents David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler, and give President-Elect Joe Biden a trifecta control of the government in 2021. Republicans already have 50 Senate seats, so winning either of the races would given them continued control. If Democrats win both, the parties will be split at 50/50, and voting ties are broken by the Vice President, who will...

Venezuelan socialist dictator Nicolás Maduro once again personally accused Colombian President Iván Duque on Tuesday of plotting his assassination, this time allegedly during the fraudulent legislative elections Maduro organized Sunday. The Spanish news agency EFE noted Maduro has claimed to be the target of an assassination plot over 40 times since he succeeded late socialist dictator Hugo Chávez in 2013. While Maduro has blamed most of those alleged plots on the United States, he has increasingly accused Colombia of being a willing accomplice. Maduro has presented no verifiable evidence for any of his alleged assassination plots. The democratically elected government...

After going quiet in the months before the election, federal authorities are now actively investigating the business dealings of Hunter Biden, a person with knowledge of the probe said. His father, President-elect Joe Biden, is not implicated. Now that the election is over, the investigation is entering a new phase. Federal prosecutors in Delaware, working with the IRS Criminal Investigation agency and the FBI, are taking overt steps such as issuing subpoenas and seeking interviews, the person with knowledge said. Activity in the investigation had gone covert in recent months due to Justice Department guidelines prohibiting overt actions that could...

The Network of Sikh Organisations (NSO) hailed the move by the Editors’ Code of Practice Committee to recommend against using the word ‘Asian’ when referring to the phenomenon of predominantly Pakistani Muslim grooming gangs in news reports. The NSO, a registered charity representing 130 gurdwaras (temples) and other Sikh organizations in the UK, hailed the revelation that the 2020 Editors’ Code of Practice review — which will come into effect on January 1st, 2021 — cautioned against using the blanket term when discussing child rape gangs. “We’ve long complained about the vague term ‘Asian’ to describe those convicted in sexual...

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Security concerns were raised over how bad Chinese spying has gotten after it was revealed this week that Eric Swalwell had been secretly dating President Xi Jinping in a wig. Get him!" Pulling the wig off, the agent revealed the Chinese woman to be Xi himself.

Egregious attack on religious freedomA proposed law to ban so called conversion therapy in Victoria is the most egregious attack on religious freedom the country has ever seen, according to faith leaders and legal experts. If passed, the bill tabled in parliament on 25 November would criminalise any practices that seek to change or suppress a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity. However, the bill is so broad in its definitions that, if passed, it would crush any Christian expression of human sexuality, capturing homilists, educators, academics, scripture teachers and parents with penalties reaching up to $200,000 or up to...

Stacey Abrams rejected comparisons that she and President Trump are both “two sides of the same coin” when it comes to their refusals to concede in their elections, saying they’re not “even the same currency.” Abrams made the comments during a fundraiser with cast members of CW's "Supernatural" on Tuesday night, shortly after discussing her decision not to concede to then-Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp (R) after he was projected the winner of the state’s gubernatorial race in 2018. Abrams said her refusal to concede in the 2018 race and Trump’s current refusal to acknowledge President-elect Joe Biden’s victory...

Some experts argue that the success of China and its neighbors in slowing the spread of the virus without resorting to costly shutdowns gives these countries a leg up in getting their economies back on track once the crisis subsides. Some even go as far as to predict that this will propel East Asia to dominate the post-COVID economy. However, such rosy predictions of a dawning of a new “East Asian era” may be premature in light of the ticking demographic timebomb that looms over the region.

The services in the temples of the Coptic Church in Cairo and Alexandria will be held without the presence of believers, until at least January 6, when Egypt celebrates Christmas (according to the old calendar). According to the same decision of the Coptic Church, all its religious seminars and educational programs are suspended for the same period. This decision was made after the detection of cases of coronavirus between the clergy and the faithful. However, in the Coptic churches it will be possible to officiate one service per week with the presence of only one priest and five deacons. The...

Baguio prelate says anti-Vatican II group that sees pope as 'anti-Christ' is recruiting in his dioceseA Philippine bishop has warned the faithful in his diocese against joining a Catholic splinter group that he says rejects Vatican II and has branded the pope as “anti-Christ.” In a Dec. 3 letter sent to churchgoers, Bishop Victor Bendico of Baguio warned Catholics against being seduced by the group called Rosary Confraternity Benguet, which he said was active and recruiting members in his diocese. Rosary Confraternity Benguet is a sedevacantist group and not a Catholic one, the bishop said in the letter. Sedevacantism refers...

A controversial Detroit Democrat state legislator was stripped of her committee assignments in the Michigan Legislature after releasing a video that appeared to threaten Donald Trump supporters concerned with issues of election integrity in the state on Wednesday. Rep. Cynthia Johnson had contemptuously dismissed election fraud whistleblowers and Trump supporters during a legislative hearing on the process of the 2020 election last week. After receiving backlash for her unprofessional conduct, she released a video in which she implied the use of far-left Democrat thugs to dismiss Americans who demand transparency. Johnson claimed she was being harassed and receiving threatening phone...
