A VIDEO on the Living in Love and Faith (LLF) materials, produced by the campaign group Christian Concern, has been criticised by the Bishop of Coventry, Dr Christopher Cocksworth, for condemning participants in the process. Police are looking at the video as a possible hate-crime. In the video, posted on YouTube on 13 November, Ben John, development director of the Wilberforce Academy, comments on clips from a trailer video which promotes the LLF course. In this historic 2020 presidential election, there is a strong case for former Vice President Joe Biden to attribute his victory to Jo Jorgensen, a professor of psychology at Clemson University and the presidential nominee of the Libertarian Party. Her vote total substantially exceeded Biden and President Trump's margin in Arizona, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Georgia. Libertarian Party candidates typically draw far more votes from conservative Republicans than liberal Democrats. And this year, especially, the major planks on her campaign web site were far more likely to win votes that otherwise would have gone to Trump rather than Biden. Consider Arizona....

President-elect Joe Biden in a Wednesday interview said “there’s no reason why” his administration shouldn’t raise both corporate and individual income taxes to levels maintained during former president George Bush’s administration. Biden insisted “everybody pairs their fair share” in taxes during his presidency, and suggested a nearly 40% rate for those in the top bracket, which he said was commonplace during the Bush era, in an interview with the New York Times.

"It's a bloodbath." That's how two longtime Disney staffers have described the wave of layoffs happening at the company Thursday. The staff reductions are taking place in Disney's General Entertainment Content unit, overseen by Peter Rice, and Dana Walden's Walt Disney Television division, including ABC and studio 20th Television. Sources say more than 100 staffers have been impacted by Thursday's layoffs. "I'm sure Disney's seen worse, but it feels pretty significant," said one longtime executive familiar with the cutbacks. Disney declined comment. (THR will update this post with more information as it becomes available.) Longtime ABC exec Vicki Dummer, who...

Vatican Says Biden Presidency Can Play ‘Key Role’ in Paris Climate DealROME — The Vatican suggested Thursday a Biden presidency might inject new life into the stagnant Paris Climate Accord after President Trump pulled the U.S. out of the deal in 2017.The Vatican COVID-19 Commission announced Thursday that it is organizing a webinar next week in preparation for a December 12 global climate summit to be co-hosted by the United Nations and the UK to mark the fifth anniversary of the Paris Agreement. In its preparatory document, the Vatican team lamented the lack of initiative and commitment around the Paris climate...

The Senate Judiciary Committee will vote Thursday on the nominee to fill the appeals court seat vacated by new Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett as well as voting on whether to send three other lower trial court nominees to the Senate floor — which could further cement President Trump’s reshaping of the federal judiciary before he leaves office. This comes to the chagrin of Democrats who insist Republicans are violating tradition by continuing to confirm judges despite a Joe Biden victory in the presidential race. After hearings on nominees before the Thanksgiving recess, the committee is scheduled to vote...

Bishop Schneider Criticises ChurchMilitant’s Attacks On SSPXBishop Athanasius Schneider commented on the fact that “from various sides,” the Society of St. Pius X (SSPX) has been made a target of attacks in connection with cases of sexual abuse (LifeSiteNews.com, December 3).In fact, it is only one side/website which attacks the SSPX, i.e., ChurchMilitant.com while constantly complaing that no Catholic website is jumping on that bandwagon.[From reading ChurchMilitant.com] Schneider received the impression as if the SPPX were "the only Catholic religious organisation which had to respond to such accusations.” Schneider also notices that it cannot be dismissed that some of the...

Joe Biden said Thursday that he will ask Americans to commit to 100 days of wearing masks as one of his first acts as president, stopping just short of the nationwide mandate he’s pushed before to stop the spread of the coronavirus. The move marks a notable shift from President Donald Trump, whose own skepticism of mask-wearing has contributed to a politicization of the issue. That’s made many people reticent to embrace a practice that public health experts say is one of the easiest ways to manage the pandemic, which has killed more than 275,000 Americans. The president-elect has frequently...

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany called out Playboy reporter Brian Karem for what she described as “demeaning, misogynistic questions.” The accusation marks an ironic twist against a media that consistently portray any member of the Trump administration as misogynist for even the most minor of criticisms toward female reporters and/or political adversaries. McEnany made the charge in an appearance on “Fox & Friends” Tuesday morning. “If you’re a female woman in the Republican Party who takes that podium, guess what your worry is? Having a Playboy reporter shout questions at you, demeaning, misogynistic questions during a briefing,” she fumed....

The United Kingdom’s deputy chief medical officer has suggested that practices like wearing masks and using hand sanitiser could be habits Britons have to keep “for years”. Jonathan Van-Tam made the remarks 0n Wednesday alongside Prime Minister Boris Johnson during a Downing Street coronavirus briefing. Professor Van-Tam said, according to The Sun: “I don’t think we’re going to eradicate coronavirus, ever. I think it’s going to be with humankind forever. I think we may get to a point where coronavirus becomes a seasonal problem. I don’t want to draw too many parallels with ‘flu, but possibly that is the kind...

WASHINGTON, D.C.—As part of the transition to a new administration, the Secret Service is working hard to make the White House safe and secure for the incoming 78-year-old president. One of the most important pieces of hardware in the White House will be Biden's presidential scooter, affectionately dubbed "Chair Force One." "This will be one of the most advanced pieces of geriatric technology the world has ever seen," said Secret Service Director James Murray. "With the ability to go from 0 to 3 miles per hour in 12 seconds, it will completely encase Mr. Biden in a shell of bulletproof...

Washington — The Supreme Court on Thursday sided with a California church challenging Governor Gavin Newsom's restrictions on indoor worship services amid the spike in coronavirus infections, ordering a federal district court to revisit an earlier ruling against the religious institution. In a brief unsigned order with no noted dissents, the high court tossed out an order from the federal trial court in the Central District of California, which had upheld Newsom's restrictions. The justices sent the dispute back to the lower court for further consideration in light of its decision last week in a similar challenge to New York...

The small probe, which sat on top of the Chang'e 5 lander, lifted off from Oceanus Procellarum at 10:10 EST Thursday (15:10 GMT/23:10 Beijing time) carrying with it the first fresh lunar samples since 1976. Six minutes later, the ascent spacecraft achieved lunar orbit, marking a huge milestone in the Chang'e 5 mission to return lunar samples to Earth. The ascent vehicle's job now is to meet up with the Chang'e 5 orbiter while still circling the moon, and then transfer its precious cargo to a return capsule for the journey home. That next stage is an extremely challenging rendezvousing...

A Torrance-based real estate developer pleaded guilty on Thursday to felony conspiracy, closing a major chapter in a campaign money laundering case that covered more than six years’ worth of political contributions to more than half a dozen Los Angeles politicians.... ...While the project was under review, Leung’s employees, business partners and many others in his orbit made donations to campaigns, officeholder accounts and political committees supporting an array of elected officials, including Garcetti, County Supervisor Janice Hahn and City Councilman Joe Buscaino, who represented the Harbor Gateway neighborhood.
