Thanks to the collective efforts of city and state Democratic “leaders” like California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, the coronavirus-inspired mandates in L.A. County are the most restrictive in the state and among the strictest nationwide. Business owners in the area have cried foul, with some being so outraged and fed up that they’ve taken matters into their own hands. One such person is Alex Jordan, who runs the “Eat at Joe’s” diner in East Redondo Bay. Jordan told news station KTLA that he is defying Newsom and the county because of loyalty to his employees...

There’s a refrain on the left that is now so familiar as to be unremarkable. The form runs, “Even Reagan wasn’t as bad as [insert current Republican president here].” It got a workout under George W. Bush, and it’s gotten heavy use under Trump. And already I’ve seen several articles in the New York Times and elsewhere saying, “Whatever the GOP offers us after Trump will be even worse.” To which I say, I can only hope so.

by Rod Thomson It seems like a strange matchup, a midsize community against one of the world’s great cities — or once great cities. Other than being in the United States and never seeing snow, there are not a lot of similarities between Los Angeles and Sarasota, Florida. Except about 10 years ago, they both, like most American cities, were facing an increasing homeless problem. The warmth of southern cities, particularly Florida cities, is a major attraction for everyone, and as it turns out there are homeless snowbirds, of a sort. But Sarasota and L.A. took two opposite paths in...

A state judge on Monday ordered elections officials to preserve records showing how they calculated the results of an extremely close congressional race in central New York after two counties reported errors or changes in vote tallies over the holiday weekend. Republican Claudia Tenney said Monday she had a 13-vote lead in the race, erasing Democratic incumbent U.S. Rep. Anthony Brindisi’s razor-thin advantage after one county adjusted its tabulation.

Although Health Ministry Director Hezy Levy yesterday insisted to reporters that "we won't force people to take a vaccine. Israeli law doesn't allow for it," speaking before the Special Knesset Coronavirus Committee chaired by MK Yifat Shasha-Biton, Sheba Medical Center Chief Medical Officer and Chief Innovation Officer Dr. Eyal Zimlichman listed measures that are being planned to "maneuver" the population into vaccinating as a way of regaining freedom of movement. The issue of how to "motivate" vaccine compliance has generated increasing interest, with commentators such as Mike Cernovich writing: "Government won’t force you to take vaccine. Amazon will. Airlines will....

Hospitals in the United States have implemented new policies based on last year’s severe influenza season, but infectious disease experts agree that America’s health care systems would still be seriously challenged by another bad influenza season. The 2017-2018 influenza season was the first to be classified as “high severity” across all age groups, according to the CDC The number of cases of influenza-associated illness that occurred last season — an estimated 48.4 million people — was the highest since the 2009 H1N1 pandemic, when an estimated 60 million people became sick with influenza. Schaffner said hospital capacity across the country...

Joe Biden is the worst presidential candidate the Democrats ever nominated. Biden couldn’t get anyone to attend his boring and awkward drive-in rallies so his campaign used Covid as a cover. ....... Snip....... Joe Biden underperformed Barack Obama’s 2012 numbers everywhere except for the cities in the states he is trying to steal. Biden lost 212 more counties than Barack Obama did in 2012 (Biden won 477 counties vs Obama who won 689), yet Biden magically gained 13 million more votes than Obama.

Many hospitals across the United States regularly operate with most of their beds taken by patients, limiting their ability to handle a sudden influx of folks sick with COVID-19, a new study reports. Only about 1 of every 3 U.S. hospital beds is empty on any given day, according to research from the Urban Institute, funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. "All indications show if the curve is not flattened, hospitals across the country will not have the capacity to deal with the surge in hospitalizations associated with COVID-19," said study author Fredric Blavin, a principal research associate with...

The object, dubbed 2020 SO by astronomers, will come within "just" 31,605 miles of our planet at 3:50 a.m. ET on December 1, according to NASA's Center for Near Earth Object Studies (CNEOS.) This is an "extremely close," albeit safe, approach... The object, which is estimated to measure between 15-33 feet across, was discovered by the Pan-STARRS survey based in Maui, Hawaii, on September 17, 2020. This find was confirmed two days later by the Minor Planet Center, which is responsible for the designation of minor bodies in the solar system. Initial observations suggested that the object was an asteroid....

New York is dangerously close to overwhelming its hospital system with new COVID-19 cases — and preparing to recruit retired doctors and nurses to the front lines again, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Monday. “It’s a new phase in the war against COVID,” Cuomo said — adding that daily coronavirus hospitalizations statewide are nearly quadruple what they were in June.

Arizona certified the results of the presidential election, handing another win to President-elect Joe Biden even as President Trump disputes the outcome. Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs, a Democrat, signed off on the election results Monday alongside Gov. Doug Ducey and Attorney General Mark Brnovich, both Republicans. Biden won the battleground state by 10,457 votes, a margin of about 0.3 points. Ducey championed the integrity of Arizona’s election process during the certification. “We do elections well here in Arizona. The system is strong, and that’s why I bragged on it so much,” the governor said. While the state was...

After a slew of new COVID-19 restrictions in Santa Clara County, where Levi's Stadium is located, the San Francisco 49ers are heading south for their next few "home games." On Monday morning, the Niners announced they would be playing their Week 13 game against the Buffalo Bills and their Week 14 game against the Washington Football Team at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. That stadium is where the Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco's division rivals in the NFC West, host their own home contests.

Rudy Giuliani’s first witness at the Arizona hearing on Monday was information warfare officer Retired Army Colonel Phil Waldron. Recall, Colonel Waldron also testified before the Pennsylvania senate majority last week on the election fraud, huge ballot spikes for Joe Biden and Dominion voting systems. On Monday Waldron confirmed experts witnessed Dominion communicating with Frankfurt on Election Day. Willie Lewis Brown Jr., San Francisco’s mayor from 1996 to 2004, says that he has a solution for San Francisco’s struggling restaurants: Require diners to take a COVID-19 test within 72 hours before they sit down to eat. Implementing a rule like this “would do a lot to bring people back,” Brown says, adding that the program would make dining out “risk-free.” Brown argues that restaurants across the city could bring in more diners if they would “advertise that your store, your restaurant or your public space is available only to people who had a negative test in the past...

The rush was on Sunday night for out-of-town travelers to get back home to Santa Clara County as a new mandatory travel directive went into effect at midnight. The order requires that travelers arriving in the county from more than 150 miles away quarantine for two weeks. But how will the county enforce such a broad order? Airports are going to be a key component of the new order, as it will be up to them to post signs and educate passengers about the new requirement. Passengers will be given a written copy of the directive upon landing. There are...
