Bad flu seasons test US hospitals

Hospitals in the United States have implemented new policies based on last year’s severe influenza season, but infectious disease experts agree that America’s health care systems would still be seriously challenged by another bad influenza season.

The 2017-2018 influenza season was the first to be classified as “high severity” across all age groups, according to the CDC

The number of cases of influenza-associated illness that occurred last season — an estimated 48.4 million people — was the highest since the 2009 H1N1 pandemic, when an estimated 60 million people became sick with influenza.

Schaffner said hospital capacity across the country was “stretched but not broken,”

The CDC noted that the estimated number of hospitalizations during the 2017-2018 influenza season exceeded the number of staffed hospital beds in the United States — 902,202.

Careful people would distinguish between Influenza, and a rhinovirus (common cold) and a coronavirus (such as COVID-19). There is some overlap because some coronavises are considered the cause for some common colds.

But I think the bean counters are sloppy and throw most of this stuff into one giant bucket.

If we’re not careful, they won’t let us leave our homes until they create a cure for the Common Cold.

I think there should be a national lockdown until there is a flu vaccine that is 99% effective. It’s to keep the children safe you know.

Getting us ready for that carbon lockdown.

Same deal this year. They just gave the flu a scary name and started calling all deaths of old people that scary name. Now the sheeple are ascared.

Doubtful being able to distinguish between influenza and covid.
If you look at the CDC website “Similarities and Differences between Flu and Covid” the clinical symptoms are essentially identical.

The preventative measures against COVID-19 should result in a minor flu season.

Of course they are, they are NOT all in the hospital at the same time.
