Philadelphia experienced a wave of shootings over Thanksgiving weekend. At least 32 people, including eight teenagers, were shot in the city between Thursday and Sunday, and three men were killed, authorities said. The city’s 2020 homicide total is approaching 450, and it’s up nearly 40 percent compared to last year, according to Philadelphia Police Department data.

Andrew Selous, the Church of England's representative in the Commons, has told MPs that Nativity plays and outdoor carolling can go ahead. The Tory MP and Second Church Estates Commissioner said that "churches and cathedrals can now approach Advent and Christmas with certainty". For indoor services and events, singing will be "limited to performance only". Churches are set to re-open for public worship on 2 December when the second national lockdown ends. During lockdown, churches were forced to close except for private prayer, funerals and delivering key public services. The forced closures were strongly criticised by Church leaders, including the...

They say history repeats itself, but who would’ve thought history would be repeating so soon. In just a few months we are back to government mandated lockdowns and more arguing about PCR testing. We might’ve failed the first time this happened but maybe this is the universe playing the same story on repeat hoping we get it right this time. So let’s learn from past mistakes and change the end of this repeating story. Freedom is non-negotiable, it can’t be put on hold or be taken away, because if it can, then it never really existed at all.

According to a statement from his doctor, Kevin O'Connor, Biden sustained a sprain of his right foot and while “initial X-rays are reassuring that there is no obvious fracture," he'll be receiving a CT scan for further review. Reporters covering the president-elect were not afforded the opportunity to see Biden enter the doctor's office, despite multiple requests. Leaving the doctor's office to head to an imaging center for his CT scan, Biden was visibly limping

[Catholic Caucus] Archbishop Gullickson: “Stay Tuned for More Thoughts”Picture: Thomas Gullickson © FSSP, #newsQbzppapqas Swiss Nuncio Thomas Gullickson reiterated on his blog (November 26) his conviction that “the only future for the Church is in its recovery of integral Catholic Worship according to the Vetus Ordo.”For him it is urgent to step back from the Novus Ordo, “especially when it comes to Eucharistic Reverence.” Gullickson will retire early, by the end of 2020.“I will need some time yet to be able to work out the implications for myself as a retired member of the hierarchy,” he writes, “Stay tuned for...

Uranus is weird. It’s unlike any other planet in our solar system for a number of reasons, but its most bizarre feature is that it rotates at a roughly 90-degree angle to all the other planets. Scientists believe that its strange orientation is due to an impact that the planet sustained early in its life, but they’re just beginning to understand how this particular circumstance is affecting the planet on a day-to-day basis. In a new paper published in the Journal of Geophysical Research, scientists explain that, based on models of the planet and its magnetosphere, it’s likely that the...

It’s an “open” rebellion. A Staten Island pub located in a coronavirus hot spot is stealing a page from Seattle’s anarchist cookbook, declaring itself an “autonomous zone,” free from the public-safety restrictions its owners say they will refuse to abide by. “!ATTENTION! We hereby declare this establishment an !!!AUTONOMOUS ZONE!!!” read signs outside and around Mac’s Public House in Grant City, invoking a phrase more commonly associated with the monthlong occupation of Capitol Hill in the Emerald City by anti-cop radicals. “We refuse to abide by any rules and regulations put forth by the Mayor of NYC and Governor of...

....Now we are beginning to see more issues arising, as the mental health impact of the lockdowns is being seen. Reports are coming out of Japan that their suicide rate has spiked to a tremendous level as that country is in strong lockdown conditions. In the month of October the nation recorded over 2,100 people who had taken their own life. That monthly figure exceeds the total of all Covid deaths Japan has experienced this year, which numbers less than 2,000. While the Center For Disease Control has been very up to date with U.S. records concerning the Covid pandemic,...

It was November 29, 1517, when the last Roman Catholic king of Denmark, the ambitious and possibly manic-depressive monarch Christian II, enforced the execution of a man whom he trusted for years. Torben Oxe was beheaded at St. Gertrude’s Hospital Cemetery for crimes against the throne. Oxe was a subsidiary character during the tenure of one of the more intriguing Western European monarchs, and his hasty — and largely unsubstantiated — condemnation was a critical indicator in the governance of King Christian II. Christian took the throne during a time of great disquiet in Scandanavia. His father, Hans of Denmark,...

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden reportedly suffered an injury while playing with a dog at his Delaware home on Sunday morning. He’s expected to receive treatment from an orthopedist this afternoon. Pool reporters were told Sunday that the injury wasn’t serious and that Biden is only being examined out of an abundance of caution. There hasn’t been an update since the pool announcement of the incident. Biden rarely campaigned during the presidential election, instead opting to remain at his Delaware home and proclaim “lids” as early as 9:10 AM. He’d conceivably have no choice but to assume a more...

Kayleigh McEnany believes the Pennsylvania judge who rejected the Trump campaign’s latest election lawsuit didn’t understand its legal argument. “I think this 3rd Circuit Court judge misunderstood the argument because, look, it’s an equal protection argument.” McEnany: "Yeah, Jed, I think the third circuit court judge misunderstood the argument because look, it’s an equal protection argument, the one we’ve been making in court and it says that if you were in the seven blue counties in Pennsylvania, you were given an extraordinary opportunity to fix your mail-in ballot, but if you were in the other 60 mainly Republican counties you...

At the center of the our galaxy, with a mass roughly 4 millions times that of our sun, is a supermassive black hole called Sagittarius A*. And great news! It turns out scientists have discovered that we're 2,000 light-years closer to this gigantic black hole than we thought. This doesn't mean we're currently on a collision course with a black hole. No, it's simply the result of a more accurate model of the Milky Way based on new data. Over the last 15 years, a Japanese radio astronomy project, VERA, has been gathering data. Using a technique called interferometry, VERA...

The fourth time proved to be the charm for Mariannette Miller-Meeks, as the conservative from Iowa's 2nd District will go to Congress after three losses — and by a margin of 6 votes out of more than 394,000 cast. The recount of the nation's closest House race came Saturday, as the last of 24 counties in the 2nd District to submit a final count did so. Results from Clinton County were finalized late Saturday afternoon and did nothing to affect the 6-vote advantage Miller-Meeks had over Democrat Rita Hart (who owns a farm in Clinton and represented it in the...

My point is this: fear as well as greed has been a powerful motivating force in explaining the desperate tactics employed by the Left to secure the presidency for the disagreeable and senescent political hack at the head of the Democratic ticket. The agenda he and—more to the point—his leftwing puppeteers hope to enact was one motivating factor. Their desire to free themselves from scrutiny for their years—in some case, decades—of corruption was another, equally powerful motivation. Doubtless, many of them of them believe they can breathe easy now. Joe is almost president, isn’t he? Well, is he? I said...
