PALOMINAS, Arizona (Border Report) — The majestic canopy of towering cottonwood trees can be seen for miles, like a green ribbon trimming the dry semi-desert grasslands of southern Arizona. The snaking treeline marks where the San Pedro River meanders through the Huachuca Mountain range that sits on either side of the U.S.-Mexico border. The trees can grow to 100 feet tall and are a welcome source of shade for the millions of migrating birds that flock to the river each year. For some, it is the only water they will find for hundreds of miles. The San Pedro River is...

Democratic candidate Joe Biden on Thursday denounced President Donald Trump for befriending North Korea's "thug" leader, likening his diplomacy to working with Hitler. In a sharp clash in their final presidential debate, Biden attacked Trump's insistence that he has avoided war through his summits with Kim Jong Un. "He's talked about his good buddy, who's a thug," Biden said of the young North Korean leader. "That's like saying we had a good relationship with Hitler before he invaded Europe -- the rest of Europe. Come on." But Biden indicated he was also willing to meet with Kim, saying his condition...

Last week, Biden raised eyebrows when he shrugged off concerns over the China threat. “Come on, man,” Biden said. “I mean, you know, they’re not bad folks, folks. But guess what, they’re not competition for us.” Perhaps Biden’s insouciant attitude toward the Chinese government has to do with the fact that his family does not consider them competitors but business partners. In 2013, then-Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden flew aboard Air Force Two to China. Less than two weeks later, Hunter Biden’s firm inked a $1 billion private equity deal with a subsidiary of the Chinese government’s...

In some states, you really can vote twice or even three times and it's legal. But it will only count once. While the process is little known and rarely used, some states do allow voters to change their early or absentee ballots with no questions asked. The issue has received new attention because of the expected record number of early votes that will be cast in the 2016 presidential election. Some estimates are that up to 40% of voters will have cast their ballots before the polls open Tuesday, November 8. In most of the states, voters who have already...

For your weekend viewing pleasure: Rod Serling was a brilliant man, and it’s interesting to compare his concerns about freedom of speech and censorship with what is going on in the US today. I’ve often watched old Twilight Zone episodes, and wondered how our modern ‘liberals’ could have traveled so far from the great wisdom inherent in those stories: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpKkHCVbSyw(In the early days of cinema, someone said that 'movies' had the potential to inspire and raise up the idealistic nature of individuals to great heights, and to change the world. I think that has been true, to a great extent;...

...Previously I’ve written that Joe Biden is a villain straight out of an Ayn Rand novel: A scheming mediocrity with no talent other than for gaming a crooked system. Despite the millions involved, and from sources as dubious as Communist China and Eastern European kleptocrats, a man’s willingness to grab some easy money when the grabbing is good… isn’t atypical. Sadly. But as far as I’m concerned, it’s the risks that Biden puts his own son through that reveal the true rot at the center of his character....The millions Hunter has raked in on his own and his father’s behalf...
