For centuries, Americans have taken to the streets when they’ve had grievances to share. We’ve taken to the streets to make our voices heard, to effect change, and to feel and display the power and solidarity of mass gatherings. But with physical distancing and shelter in place orders prevalent throughout the U.S. and the world, how do we responsibly exercise our First Amendment right to protest, which remains as essential as ever? Undoubtedly, there is a medical imperative to keep ourselves and our neighbors safe, and our hospitals from becoming overwhelmed. At the same time, public debate about urgent political...

OLYMPIA — Gov. Chairman of the Riverside County board of supervisors Manuel Perez said Thursday he will propose to rescind all county health orders currently in place as local health experts warn it could be too soon to pull back. The four orders that would be eliminated include the closure of schools, limitations on short term lodging, restrictions on golf courses, and the requirement of face masks and social distancing. This comes just a day after county public health officer Dr. Cameron Kaiser said, "Covid-19 has not been eliminated and it’s arguable whether we could even say it's been suppressed. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer defended her legal right to continue Michigan’s state of emergency Friday, calling the decision by the legislature not to extend it a political maneuver and the protests that erupted in the Capitol over the issue “disturbing.” Referencing swastikas, Confederate flags and the firearms some of the protesters carried, Whitmer said the protests - during which participants stood shoulder-to-shoulder both inside and outside the Capitol, disregarding social distancing guidelines - don’t represent the majority of Michigan residents. Whitmer said during a Friday news briefing she understands the frustration over the ongoing stay-at-home order to limit the spread of...

Biden dropped off 1,875 boxes: “photographs, documents, videotapes, files” and 415 gigabytes of electronic records in 2012. The university initially said it expected to make the records “available to the public two years after Biden’s last day in elected public office.” In April 2019, just hours before Biden announced his presidential bid, the university changed its mind, and said the papers wouldn't be released until either December 31, 2019, or until two years after Biden “retires from public life,” whichever comes later. Cruz added: “Prohibiting the use of these platforms and stopping taxpayers dollars from being used to capitalize Chinese espionage infrastructure are common sense measures to protect American national security.” Congress is currently in recess until at least May...

Nicolle Wallace got up on her high horse, cracked the whip, and began circling the wagons around Joe Biden. On her MSNBC show this afternoon, Wallace said, as someone who was once "a part of the Republican Party," that when it comes to Tara Reade, "the right" is not being "intellectually honest," and is instead "running a smear campaign against Joe Biden." In contrast, those honest old Democrats are simply seeking "consistency" about #MeToo. Wallace ended her anti-conservative diatribe by warning, "everyone should proceed with caution about statements made around this on the right."Get the rest of the story and...
