I am an immigrant and a naturalized citizen. My parents brought me to the United States of America from war-torn Europe when I was ten years old. My parents and older brother lived through World War II. My father was taken into Germany as slave labor, my mother survived by fleeing her home with my older brother, living in the countryside, hiding with a farm family until the Americans liberated Holland. We came here to be free. My parents lived the American dream, rising from abject poverty to build their own business, free to make their own way and to...

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (AP) — A woman who led police on a chase told arresting officers that she was Mother Mary en route to pick up Baby Jesus and had permission from God to speed. WDRB-TV cites an arrest report saying a Kentucky trooper attempted to pull over 52-year-old Connie Allen, of Goodlettsville, Tennessee, on Saturday, but she ignored him. A high-speed chase ensued. Another trooper was eventually able to pull in front of Allen, forcing her to stop. He approached her car with his weapon drawn, but she refused to get out and show her hands. The report says she...

*snip* While the country as a whole has successfully flattened the curve, it has yet to show the extended period of decline necessary to declare ourselves out of the woods — a “squashing” of the curve.

Conservative radio host Mark Levin has been blowing the whistle for a while. Now, more Americans are starting to listen. In what is emerging as one of the biggest untold stories of the coronavirus crisis, the media is starting to pay attention to the fact that the carnage of COVID-19 in nursing homes in New York state not only took place on Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s watch but was actually facilitated by an order from his state government. New York, New Jersey, and California all ordered nursing homes to take coronavirus patients, exposing their frail and elderly patients to the...

Not only was the anti-Trump dossier fueled by Russian disinformation, but the FBI knew it was likely tainted at the time the bureau was citing the document to obtain secret spying warrants on a Trump campaign figure, according to information declassified Wednesday from an inspector general’s report. One member of the FBI team investigating the Trump campaign even got information in January 2017 that Russian intelligence “may have targeted Orbis,” the company of Christopher Steele, according to Justice Department Inspector General Michael E. Horowitz’s report. The FBI learned in February 2017 that Russian intelligence managed to infiltrate a source into...

Reade, a former aide for then-Sen. Joe Biden, has accused the presumed Democrat candidate of sexual assault. Evidence has surfaced that appears to bolster Reade’s allegations. In this #MeToo era, Democrat officials could use that accusation to get Uncle Joe to withdraw from the race. Why would that be good for Democrats? Because they know that Biden is a weak candidate who may be suffering cognitive decline and is not likely to beat President Trump in November. The inability of the former vice president to reliably string two sentences together is alarming and will only become more evident as the...

Sweden's ambassador to the U.S. believes the country's controversial strategy of imposing only limited restrictions — and not locking down the country — is bearing success, with the capital, Stockholm, on course to reach herd immunity in the next few weeks. "About 30% of people in Stockholm have reached a level of immunity," Karin Ulrika Olofsdotter told NPR. "We could reach herd immunity in the capital as early as next month."

Via The Washington Times: A judge in southern Illinois ruled Monday that Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s stay-at-home order to stem the spread of the coronavirus exceeds his emergency authority and violates individual civil rights. Pritzker promised “swift” action to overturn the judge’s order, which applies only to Bailey but allows other individuals and groups to challenge the movement restrictions while the highly contagious illness circulates. The ruling came the same day House Republicans attacked Pritzker on another front, renewing demands for details on state prison inmates released early because of COVID-19 fears. Pritzker signed an order earlier this month allowing furloughs...

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Unemployment remains a major issue across the country. Many New York and New Jersey residents are losing hope, and are out of cash. Adam D’Aleo has listened to the New York Department of Labor’s “we are experiencing high call volume” recording more times than he can count. “It’s embarrassing, I remember it,” D’Aleo said. When he was laid off at the beginning of April, he filed for unemployment benefits online. Every time he logs in, he gets this notice: “To complete the claim, call the claims center.”

It has been known, ever since 1984, that zinc is an effective virus fighter. That year a research study discovered that taking zinc gluconate lozenges early in the course of a common cold could shorten it. After a series of apparently conflicting research studies, a 2012 review of the literature concluded that taking zinc early reduces the duration of a common cold by an average of 1.65 days. Since colds are mild virus infections, it is clear that zinc has anti-virus properties. Zinc and COVID-19 When the COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) virus pandemic began, one of the glaring facts apparent to those...

BELLE PLAINE, Kan. — Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly says she has reached a deal that could resolve a legal challenge to her order banning religious gatherings of more than 10 people to help slow the spread of the new coronavirus. Kelly said in a news release late Saturday that under the agreement, the two churches that challenged her order agreed to extend a judge's temporary restraining order preventing enforcement of Kelly's ban. The churches, meanwhile, agreed to continue complying with social-distancing guidelines, including making sure worshippers keep a safe distance from one another.

Last year, it took just a day for Joe Biden to release an in-person video directly addressing accusations of inappropriate contact with multiple women. Now, more than a month after his former staffer Tara Reade publicly accused him of sexual assault in a podcast on March 25, Biden himself remains silent -- and even though he has conducted numerous interviews, no one in the media has asked Biden about the matter, either. Biden's public silence has continued even after a "Larry King Live" clip from 1993 resurfaced this weekend, appearing to feature the mother of Tara Reade alluding to “problems”...

NEW YORK - President Donald Trump identified himself as the “best [president] in the history of the Catholic Church” in a conference call for Catholic leaders and educators Saturday, where he warned that issues at stake in the upcoming presidential election, particularly on abortion and religious liberty, “have never been more important for the Church.” Trump also pledged support for Catholic schools in light of the global coronavirus pandemic. In an audio recording of the meeting obtained by Crux, the president repeatedly emphasized his support for the pro-life movement and school choice, attempting to paint a stark contrast between his...
