Moscow, April 27, Interfax - The Moscow Patriarchate has again extended a ban on worshippers visiting churches in Moscow and the Moscow Region. According to earlier reports, such a ban was initially imposed for the period of the Holy Week and Orthodox Easter as part of measures to limit the spread of the coronavirus infection. The measure was then extended through April 28, when Orthodox believers observe the Day of Remembrance for their deceased loved ones. The patriarch's order saying that clerics may be held to account for violations of measures to curb the spread of Covid-19 was published on...

CNA Staff, Apr 23, 2020 / 03:00 pm MT (CNA).- English Catholics must avoid “any sense of self-pity” over church closures, Cardinal Vincent Nichols said at a Mass honoring workers in hospitals and care homes. Speaking via livestream from an empty Westminster Cathedral in London April 23, Cardinal Vincent Nichols, who is Archbishop of Westminster and head of the Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales, paid tribute to the “quiet heroes” on the front line of the coronavirus crisis. “For most of us, our part in this effort is so different,” the cardinal said. “Yes, deprivations are placed on us,...

Fox News has “cut ties” with pro-Trump personalities Diamond & Silk, who until recently appeared on the network’s online streaming network, Fox Nation, according to the Daily Beast. The report comes after the pair appeared to muse whether Chinese coronavirus deaths in the U.S. were inflated to reflect poorly on President Donald Trump. “What I need to know is how many people have passed away in New York, and what I need to know is: Who has the bodies?” Diamond asked during a March 30th livestream. “I need for somebody that does investigative work to call the morgues. To call...

Despite their dismal ratings the liberal mainstream media continues to spiral out of control. On Monday during his daily coronavirus press conference his final question was from a liberal hack who asked him if the man who lost 50,000 Americans should be re-elected. What a disgrace. The reporter is Olivia Nuzzi from New York Magazine. President Trump masterly responded that the “experts” originally estimated over 2 million deaths so he saved lives. This is going to be the new liberal media line. Does anyone in their right mind believe ANY Democrat would have shut down travel from China in January?...

Over at the Washington Examiner, Tiana Lowe poses an interesting question that I’ll confess hadn’t crossed my mind until now. It deals yet again with the allegations against Joe Biden brought forward by Tara Reade, including the recent, intriguing revelation about a phone call that Reade’s mother placed to Larry King’s television show back in 1993. (The same one I was discussing earlier today.) But Lowe’s query has less to do with Biden himself and any wrongs he may be guilty of and more to do with the response from CNN or lack thereof. After news of the allegations...

California Gov. Gavin Newsom sent a clear message to his state's residents after images circulated of throngs of crowds on Ventura and Orange County beaches this weekend: stop flouting social distancing guidelines or it could delay the state's reopening. "Those images are an example of what not to see, people, what not to do if we're going to make the meaningful progress that we've made in the last few weeks extend into the next number of weeks," Newsom, a Democrat, said during a news conference Monday. "I cannot impress upon you more, to those Californians watching, that we can't see...

I’ve written many times about the Chinese propaganda claiming the coronavirus originated in the United States. Today CNN Business reports on the American woman that many conspiracy theorists have dubbed patient zero. Her name is Maatje Benassi and she’s a U.S. Army reservist. She compares what is happening to her to cyber-bullying: Despite never having tested positive for the coronavirus or experienced symptoms, Benassi and her husband are now subjects of discussion on Chinese social media about the outbreak, including among accounts that are known drivers of large-scale coordinated activities by their followers. The claims have turned their lives upside...

Michael Flynn is the victim of one of the worst miscarriages of justice in modern times — an innocent man who was unfairly targeted by the FBI, wrongfully prosecuted by special counsel Robert Mueller, and coerced into a guilty plea under threat. New court documents finally handed over to Flynn’s lawyer contain exculpatory evidence that has been long sought, yet concealed until now. The charge against him should be dismissed. Then, he should sue the very people and government that persecuted him under the pretext of a legitimate prosecution. The unvarnished truth is that the retired Army lieutenant general and...

A former neighbor of Joe Biden's accuser Tara Reade has come forward to corroborate her sexual-assault account, saying Reade discussed the allegations in detail in the mid-1990s Joe Biden's former staffer, Tara Reade, says the former Vice President and presumptive Democratic nominee assaulted her in 1993. Reade's congressional ID is pictured at right. Tara Reade, a former staffer in Joe Biden's Senate office, has accused the Democratic presidential nominee of sexually assaulting her in a congressional hallway in 1993. Now Reade's former neighbor Lynda LaCasse, a Biden supporter, tells Insider that Reade told her about the alleged assault in detail...

Certainly, no friend of ours a left-wing journalist was quoted as saying in an article from 2008 - "On more than one occasion CounterPunch’s editors have listened to vivid accounts by the recipient of just such advances, this staffer of another senator being accosted by Biden in the well of the senate in the week immediately following his first wife’s fatal car accident." by ALEXANDER COCKBURN from August 23, 2008

Longtime Trump ally Roger Stone gave an explosive interview to the Sara Carter Show Monday, revealing that Special Counsel Prosecutor Jeannie Rhee had tried to pressure him on the contents of 29 phone conversations he shared with his good friend President Donald Trump during Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation. He told this reporter that he refused to lie to the FBI and Special Counsel prosecutors against his friend and in the end that’s why the prosecutors brought erroneous charges against him that had nothing to do with their now-debunked Russia probe. Stone, who is supposed to begin his 3-year jail...

The governor explained while there have been positive signs statewide several regions across the state, including Baton Rouge and Monroe, new cases and hospitalizations continue to increase or to plateau, according to data from the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH). “Thanks to the commitment of the people of Louisiana, our state has made progress in flattening the curve and reducing the spread of the novel coronavirus. Unfortunately, we still have a little work to do before we meet the criteria to safely move to the next phase of reopening, so I will extend the state’s Stay at Home order until...

The Wall Street Journal this morning includes an article by T.J. Rodgers, the retired founder and CEO of Cypress Semiconductors, with the provocative title, “Do Lockdowns Save Lives? In Most Places, the Data Say No.” Rodgers mentions in the first paragraph that much of the statistical work behind his article was done by our own Joe Malchow, who is Power Line’s Wizard of Oz behind the curtain who keeps up the tech side of the site. I’ve been wanting an excuse to do a podcast with Joe for the longest time, and so here it is. In addition to going...

30 million Americans are out of work and living hand to mouth, while the Ice Cream Queen continues to collect her $220,000 plus annual salary for holding up relief bills to stuff them full of graft for her favorite pets. How about she and her colleagues emulate President Trump and donate their paychecks to the People for the duration of this shutdown farce? Put their money where their mouths are. Not holding my breath.

Coronavirus shutdown orders will be extended for much of New York beyond the current mid-May directive, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Monday. “May 15 is when the PAUSE regulations expire statewide,” said Cuomo in an Albany press briefing, referring to his orders prohibiting non-essential business and gatherings. “I will extend them

Macbeth was a king of the Scots whose rule was marked by efficient government and the promotion of Christianity, but who is best known as the murderer and usurper in William Shakespeare's tragedy. Shakespeare's Macbeth bears little resemblance to the real 11th century Scottish king. Mac Bethad mac Findláich, known in English as Macbeth, was born in around 1005. His father was Finlay, Mormaer of Moray, and his mother may have been Donada, second daughter of Malcolm II. A 'mormaer' was literally a high steward of one of the ancient Celtic provinces of Scotland, but in Latin documents the word...

It’s a decision the governor said will endanger Illinoisans — and open the door for others to file suit. Pritzker was made aware of the Clay County Circuit Court ruling Monday afternoon during his live COVID-19 briefing. “Rep. Darren Bailey’s decision to take to the courts to try and dismantle public health directives designed to keep people safe is an insult to all Illinoisans that have been lost during this COVID-19 crisis, and it’s a danger to millions of people who may get ill because of his recklessness,” Pritzker said. “At best, no one is better off because of this...

Apparently the Los Angeles Lakers fancied themselves as a small business in need of a government bailout during the coronavirus pandemic. Now the NBA franchise is returning the taxpayer money it received, ESPN reported Monday. The L.A. Lakers — one of the nation's most recognizable and profitable sports franchises — felt they needed millions of dollars from the federal government to help them make it through these tough economic times. And the federal government agreed — granting the Lakers a $4.6 million PPP loan. The franchise is worth $4.4 billion.

Citing “hundreds of millions of dollars” in losses, Penn State University will cut program budgets, furlough 2,000 employees at half pay, and president Eric Barron will return 10% of his monthly salary amid what he called “unprecedented” times. Further furloughs and layoffs are possibilities in the new fiscal year, he said, as Penn State faces $160 million in lost tuition revenue from likely enrollment declines, on top of more than $100 million in room and board refunds and other costs since March associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. Neither Mr. Barron’s video remarks nor a university statement specified the number of...
