Former Georgia Democratic gubernatorial nominee Stacey Abrams claimed in June 2014 that poor voter registration totals among people of color across the South only served to empower a “minority white conservative coalition.” Abrams, then the minority leader of her state’s House of Representatives, made the remark while discussing the importance of registering minority voters at national conference hosted by PowerPAC+ in Washington, DC. The conference, which was funded in part by a liberal dark money network with ties to the progressive billionaire George Soros, centered around how “race will win the race.” At the time, Abrams had just launched a...

Monday of the Third Week of Easter John 6:22-29 Friends, in today’s Gospel the crowd that experienced the miracle of the loaves pursues Jesus to see more wonders. They finally track him down in the synagogue in the lakeside town of Capharnaum. When they ask Jesus how he had got there ahead of them, the Lord chides them: "Very truly, I tell you, you are looking for me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate your fill of the loaves. Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures for eternal life." Ordinary...

Today's Quotefall Puzzle features a quote by George Orwell. Click puzzle (or click here) for full size rendition, then use your browser's print command to print puzzle. George Orwell was a dystopian writer in the mid-20th Century. His eyponous works, 1984 and Animal Farm, have identified the true state of oppressive control tyrants impose upon the citizenry, and how the Democrat Party, for all intents and purposes, identical with the goals and attributes of the tenets of the oppressive State from both novels. All hints, along with the answer, are provided in the first reply comment below, using filtered font to prevent...

In the District Court, petitioners challenged a New York City rule regarding the transport of firearms. Petitioners claimed that the rule violated the Second Amendment. Petitioners sought declaratory and injunctive relief against enforcement of the rule insofar as the rule prevented their transport of firearms to a second home or shooting range outside of the city. The District Court and the Court of Appeals rejected petitioners’ claim. See 883 F. 3d 45 (CA2 2018). We granted certiorari. 586 U. S. ___ (2019). After we granted certiorari, the State of New York amended its firearm licensing statute, and the City amended...

Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi endorsed 2020 presidential candidate Joe Biden on Monday, though she has not addressed allegations of sexual assault leveled against him by a former Senate staffer. Pelosi announced her endorsement of the former vice president in a video where she praised Biden for his “values” and “integrity.” The Democratic House speaker cited Biden’s conduct during the Great Recession, Biden’s assistance from the White House with the Affordable Care Act and Biden’s “voice of reason and resilience” during the coronavirus pandemic. “I am proud to endorse Joe Biden for president of the United States because he will...

Including the line ‘China was largely right and the United States was largely wrong’ discredits any piece of writing that discusses civil liberties and the rule of law. My former law professor Jack Goldsmith, now at Harvard Law School, and Andrew Keane Woods of the University of Arizona Law School, have a remarkable article in The Atlantic that defends technology companies’ surveillance and speech controls regarding coronavirus information. “Significant monitoring and speech control are inevitable components of a mature and flourishing internet,” they write, “and governments must play a large role in these practices to ensure that the internet is...

These are up-to-date values for Rt, a key measure of how fast the virus is growing. It’s the average number of people who become infected by an infectious person. If Rt is above 1.0, the virus will spread quickly. When Rt is below 1.0, the virus will stop spreading.

Out of the Shadows God is in charge – of everything. And when something BIG is happening, it can cause pain around the world – it could be that God is doing something big right before our eyes in our own day. Two things happening simultaneously that are shaking up the world; 1) the world wide pandemic created by this “flue” from China, and, 2) the glut of oil caused by friction between Saudi Arabia and Russia, exasperated by the lack of commerce caused by the flue pandemic. Thus: 1) The largest source of terror in the world, Iran, is...

The decisions that are being made during this crisis are far too important and complex to be based on such imprecise data and with such unreliable results. There’s been a lot of armchair analysis about various models being used to predict outcomes of COVID-19. For those of us who have built spatial and statistical models, all of this discussion brings to mind George Box’s dictum, “All models are wrong, but some are useful”—or useless, as the case may be.The problem with data-driven models, especially when data is lacking, can be easily explained. First of all, in terms of helping decision...

This Wuhan communist disease has ripped the face masks off a gang of Democrat governors and mayors who exhibit disturbing symptoms of the Little Dictator Virus. Their voters are becoming increasingly alarmed at the symptoms: issuing irrational and unreasonable edicts and making them harsher at a whim, arbitrarily choosing some businesses to thrive and others to wither and die, parading around wearing diamond tiaras and the ermine robes of royalty in the privacy of their chambers. Just kidding about the last one, but it sure seems that way to the peasants who are indeed revolting. In their determined oppression of...

U.S. farmers lost one of their biggest customers after China officially cancelled all purchases of U.S. agricultural products, a retaliatory move following President Donald Trump’s pledge to slap 10% tariffs on $300 billion of Chinese imports. China’s exit piles on to a devastating year for farmers, who have struggled through record flooding and an extreme heat wave that destroyed crop yields, and trade war escalations that have lowered prices and profits this year. “It’s really, really getting bad out here,” said Bob Kuylen, who’s farmed for 35 years in North Dakota. “Trump is ruining our markets. No one is buying...

Two men escaped injury after a homeowner shot at them during a break-in. On April 24, Cherokee County Sheriff's Deputy James Carver and Sheriff Jason Chennault were dispatched to the Pumpkin Hollow area for a burglary in progress. The caller said two men tried entering his home by breaking a window. The man said the intruders broke into the back door of the residence. The homeowner was armed with a shotgun and confronted the suspects. The homeowner fired the gun at the men and they fled. "Upon arrival at the scene, Deputy Carver and Sheriff Chennault located the suspects' vehicle...

Former Chief of Neuroradiology at Stanford University Medical Center Dr. Scott Atlas ... 'The data is in — stop the panic and end the total isolation.' ... we're in a different position now than we were a month ago, and that position is, we have a lot of evidence. We don't need to just simply emphasize hypothetical projections. We can combine that empirical data instead of ignoring it, we can combine that with our knowledge of fundamental biology decades we've known a lot about viruses, a lot about infections, and for decades even about this family of viruses. And then...

The world has not seen this dangerous of a virus since the Spanish flu of 1917. But in today's world, the press and the Democrats use it as a political football. They blame President Trump instead of the ones who are really culpable: the Chinese Communist government. American Thinker interviewed experts on China to get their opinions on who is really to blame. In looking at the Chinese government over the years, should Americans think of them as friendly, adversaries, enemies, or "frenemies"? Gordan Chang (@GordonGChang), an expert on Chinese affairs, is also a columnist, lawyer, and author of The...

New York (CNN Business)Tyson Foods (TSN) is warning that "millions of pounds of meat" will disappear from the supply chain as the coronavirus pandemic pushes food processing plants to close, leading to product shortages in grocery stores across the country. "The food supply chain is breaking," wrote board chairman John Tyson in a full-page advertisement published Sunday in The New York Times, Washington Post and Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. US farmers don't have anywhere to sell their livestock, he said, adding that "millions of animals — chickens, pigs and cattle — will be depopulated because of the closure of our processing facilities."...

Morning "God, even our own God." Psalm 67:6 It is strange how little use we make of the spiritual blessings which God gives us, but it is stranger still how little use we make of God himself. Though he is "our own God," we apply ourselves but little to him, and ask but little of him. How seldom do we ask counsel at the hands of the Lord! How often do we go about our business, without seeking his guidance! In our troubles how constantly do we strive to bear our burdens ourselves, instead of casting them upon the Lord,...

"Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness" (Matt. 5:10). If you don’t experience persecution, people probably don’t know you’re a Christian. I heard of a man who was fearful because he was starting a new job with a group of unbelievers whom he thought might give him a bad time if they found out he was a Christian. After his first day at work his wife asked him how he got along with them. "We got along just fine," he said. "They never found out I'm a Christian." Silence is one way to avoid persecution....

The most important advice that anyone can give a person is to tell them to focus on their relationship with God by putting their faith in Jesus, repenting of their sins and drawing near to Him. The prophet Amos said, “Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets” (Amos 3:7). Some prophecy teachers believe that God has allowed the current Coronavirus Crisis to reveal that the Tribulation Period and New World Order (World Government, World Religion, Mark of the Beast, Rev. 13:7-8, etc.) are close (and by implication the Rapture is...

GM is suspending its quarterly dividend and stock buybacks to preserve cash during the coronavirus pandemic. GM’s U.S. plants have been shuttered since mid-March due to Covid-19. union leaders said last week they oppose an early-May restart, which several automakers have announced.
