NEW YORK - Concerts, sporting events and other large-scale public gatherings won’t be safe to return to until late 2021 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, one health expert recently predicted. Zeke Emanuel, a bioethicist and director of the Healthcare Transformation Institute at the University of Pennsylvania, participated in a panel interview with New York Times Magazine on reopening the economy. “Restarting the economy has to be done in stages, and it does have to start with more physical distancing at a work site that allows people who are at lower risk to come back,” Emanuel said, adding that certain...

ALL I REALLY NEED TO KNOW.... I LEARNED FROM NOAH'S ARK 1. Plan ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah built the ark. 2. Stay fit. When you're 600 years old, someone might ask you to do something REALLY big. 3. Don't listen to critics -- do what has to be done. 4. Build on high ground. 5. For safety's sake, travel in pairs. 6. Two heads are better than one. 7. Speed isn't always an advantage. The cheetahs were on board, but so were the snails. 8. If you can't fight or flee -- float! 9....

Michigan state Rep. Karen Whitsett, a Democrat, said Saturday she won’t be silenced as her own party is planning to censure her after she praised President Trump for his handling of the coronavirus pandemic. Ms. Whitsett praised the president at the White House after she took chloroquine to recover from COVID-19, a drug the president has touted. In a subsequent study, however, the drug has since been determined unsuccessful in treating coronavirus patients, despite initial anecdotal success stories. Ms. Whitsett told Fox News she believes her own party is censuring her because of Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, who has faced...

The Chicago Bears traded up for Mitchell Trubisky just a few years ago, but the franchise has since realized he may not be the long-term answer. That became crystal clear once Chicago traded for Nick Foles this offseason. Now comes further proof, as ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the belief around the league is the Bears won’t pick up Trubisky’s fifth-year option. Schefter notes there has been no official word from the Bears and that Chicago has until May 4 to make the decision. If the Bears do decide to pick up the fifth-year option on Trubisky, it would cost over...

In an Amicus Brief submitted to the United States District Court for the Southern District of California, Miller versus Becerra, the Giffords Law Center and associated attorneys make the following argument. Such combat-style features distinguish military rifles and their semi-automatic counterparts from standard sporting rifles, and are not “merely cosmetic”—they “serve specific, combat-functional ends.” H. Rep. No. 103-489, at 18. The Regulated Assault Rifles include features that enhance ammunition capacity, concealability, stability, and control, making it easier for shooters to fire accurately without sacrificing rate of fire. The “net effect of these military combat features is a capability for lethality—more...

The Muslim call to prayer, known as the adhan, will echo from loudspeakers through parts of Minneapolis five times per day for the entirety of Ramadan in what is believed the be the first time the Islamic call has been publicly broadcast in a major U.S. city. Al Jazeera reports: Recited by different representatives from mosques around the city, the call to prayer is expected to reach thousands in the Cedar-Riverside neighbourhood in Minneapolis, according to Jaylani Hussein, the executive director of Minnesota's Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). The first call went out late Thursday: An English translation of the...

America has handed China hundreds of billions of dollars every year to buy cheap goods, watched American firms ship their jobs and factories to China, and provided the Chinese with the means to create technology that threatens to eclipse our future. In the meantime, the money we sent there is allowing the Chinese to grow their nuclear arsenal and strengthen their military. In return, China has shipped us Covid-19. But the people of the United States are beginning to catch on to the Chinese ploy of using our money to buy their global dominance.[snip]The United States needs to stop playing...

On the menu today: The possibility of another wave of Americans moving out of the big cities, the likelihood of some future pandemic further down the road, and how the Red America–Blue America divide is likely to be altered when we emerge from this crisis. Yesterday on my work Facebook page, a reader asked, “Why is it that the places Covid-19 show up the most are in Democrat controlled areas?” As much as I’d like to believe that all the troubles in the world can eventually be traced back to Bill de Blasio, I responded, “Probably because ‘the places it...

It is clear now that the so-called experts at the IHME and CDC utterly failed in their ever-changing models and predictions on the coronavirus. In fact, they were off by a month on the first COVID-19 deaths in the US and OFF BY MILLIONS in their models that explain the breadth of the disease in the US. This impacted their decisions on how to confront the coronavirus pandemic in the United States. The current draconian measures to battle this flu-like virus were pushed by Dr. Fauci and Dr. Deborah Birx when they marched into the Oval Office and warned President...

As the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic continues to hit higher education, a number of colleges and universities are furloughing and laying off staff to cut costs. The University of Arizona, the University of Wisconsin, the University of Montana, the University of Tulsa, the University of Louisville, Marquette University, the University of Kentucky, the University of Michigan, and Washington University in St. Louis are all schools that have announced plans to furlough or layoff staff because of the virus, according to a report by Forbes. President Obama’s first Attorney General, Eric Holder, left a corrupt life in public office and returned to the law firm Covington. While at Covington, lawyers from his firm represented General Mike Flynn and requested dirt on President Trump while withholding important information from General Flynn. It needs to be asked. Was Eric Holder involved? After working for President Obama for six years, Attorney General Eric Holder returned to the law firm where he had previously worked, Covington, where he became a partner in 2015. Covington notes that “In 2014, Time magazine named Mr. Holder to its list of 100 Most...

American laborers sacrificing to work a nearly month-long shift were finally able to clock out Monday. Braskem America in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, has been in operation round-the-clock for at least 28 days, manufacturing raw materials needed for the production of N95 masks, hospital gowns and sanitary wipes put in short supply by the ongoing pandemic. Of course, a manufacturing effort of that magnitude requires manpower and, according to WPVI-TV, 40 Braskem staff members have shouldered the responsibility, volunteering to live at the facility for four weeks straight in order to keep production moving.
