Photo from Mikeoem, Wikimedia CC BY-SA 4.0. If asked to name a pirate from history, many people will mention Blackbeard or Captain William Kidd. If pressed to name a female pirate, they might mention Anne Bonny, who terrorized the Caribbean alongside Captain "Calico" Jack Rackham in the early 18th century. Anne Bonny, however, was far from the only female pirate to terrorize the seas. More than a century before Bonny's...

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Right now, there’s no one drug proven to cure COVID-19, but President Donald Trump has touted hydroxychloroquine, a drug used to ease the symptoms of certain autoimmune diseases. Some COVID-19 patients have reported using the drug, with mixed results. One of those patients is Eli Hume. “I was scared to death," Hume said. “I literally thought, ‘oh crap, I might not make it out of here.’” Hume contracted COVID-19 in March. After a few days of a high-grade fever, he was admitted into Norton Brownsboro Hospital. For two weeks, the 46-year-old, previously healthy former firefighter battled...

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says it’s “an interesting debate” whether large firms should get small-business coronavirus relief loans. “The main purpose obviously of this small business program was small businesses,” McConnell said Tuesday. “On the other hand, you could make an argument that if my job was lost, the size of my employer doesn’t make any difference to me. I’m out of work. So it’s an interesting debate. We’re feeling our way along here, we’re trying to do the best we can to get money to our people and to our small businesses.”

A panel of doctors and experts convened by the National Institutes of Health advised against combining two drugs that have been floated as possible cures for COVID-19, warning of potentially harmful effects. The COVID-19 Treatment Guidelines Panel advised against combining hydroxychloroquine, an anti-malarial drug, and azithromycin, an antibiotic also known as 'Z-Pak,' outside of clinical trials. The panel said there is not enough clinical data to recommend either for or against the use of hydroxychloroquine for the treatment of COVID-19. If hydroxychloroquine is used, clinicians should monitor patients for adverse effects, the panel said, especially heart problems. Hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin...

Only a tiny proportion of the global population – maybe as few as 2% or 3% – appear to have antibodies in the blood showing they have been infected with Covid-19, according to the World Health Organization, a finding that bodes ill for hopes that herd immunity will ease the exit from lockdown. “Easing restrictions is not the end of the epidemic in any country,” said WHO director-general Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus at a media briefing in Geneva on Monday. “So-called lockdowns can help to take the heat out of a country’s epidemic.” But serological testing to find out how...

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's administration acknowledged Tuesday that normal protocols were bypassed when a no-bid contract for coronavirus contact tracing was awarded by the state to Great Lakes Community Engagement, which is operated well-known Democratic consultant Michael Kolehouse -- who has previously written that President Trump should "get Coronavirus ASAP" and that someone should "do the country a favor and cough on that man," Facebook posts reviewed by Fox News show. The Washington Free Beacon reported earlier Tuesday that Michigan gave a separate contract to track the spread of coronavirus to Every Action VAN, a division of the Democratic data...

President Donald Trump said Tuesday that 20 states plan to reopen as the United States passed the peak of the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus outbreak. “We are opening up America again,” he said during the White House CCP Virus Task Force press briefing. “Twenty states, representing 40 percent of the population, have announced they are making plans and preparations to safely restart their economies in the very near future. Three announced today.” President Trump thanked Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), the U.S. Senate minority leader, and Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), the Senate Majority Leader, for passing the new small business relief bill....

Former Rep. Beto O'Rourke, D-Texas, profanely attacked President Trump's latest immigration order on social media Tuesday, rhetorically asking who the "f--k" Trump thinks is working on farms, processing plants, and other facilities. "Who the f--k do you think is working on the farms and feed lots, in the packing houses and processing plants at a time where we are struggling to feed ourselves?" O'Rourke asked on Twitter. "Who is in the kitchen? Who is picking, preparing, serving the food we eat and cleaning up afterwards?" The president announced late Monday he would sign an executive order to temporarily shut down immigration during the coronavirus pandemic, citing the need to...

German political culture is the most passive-aggressive on the continent. German politicians rarely raise their voices or act animatedly. German media, right and left, avoid jingoism.Their history dictates that Germans generally value public propriety and a calm demeanor much more than in their hyper-aggressive past. It doesnÂ’t mean Germans have lost their political intelligence; they essentially dominate the continent, after all. But it does mean Germans care about how they look and are perceived a lot more than the French or the Anglo-Americans do. One can like or dislike this historical change, but it remains a fact.It will, therefore,...

President Trump shared a report that said indictments could be coming this week in U.S. Attorney John Durham's review of the Russia investigation. Part of a flurry of retweets late Monday evening, Trump's verified Twitter account, which has 77.8 million followers, shared a post from Fox News legal analyst Gregg Jarrett's personal website with the headline: "More Russia Spygate Indictments Coming ‘This Week.’" The post, authored by "staff" and shared by Jarrett's verified Twitter account, focused on a recent interview conducted by Fox Business host Lou Dobbs, during which investigative reporter John Solomon said that "some criminal investigative activity" indicated...

Comrades, let this serve as a warning to like-minded subversives who would attempt to defy the lock-down orders of Commissar Phil Murphy. If wrong-thoughts continue to be expressed, it may become necessary for the Ministry of Coronavirus Compliance to deduct 500 credits from your social compliance score. Please do not put the Ministry in the position of having to make such decisions. Compliance is in your best interest. In the latest example of Blue State enforcement of unilateral decrees by a state governor, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy bans driving through Tulip farms. A recently published translation of the New Testament has one glaring omission: it has purged all references to the place and the people of the Bible. Rabbi Tuly Weisz, who recently published a Hebrew-English version of the Torah, noted that omitting 'Israel' from the Bible is equivalent to failing to mention God. 24NYT, a Danish news service, reported on Sunday that the Danish Bible Society just published a revised translation of the New Testament. The new edition has many surprises, including a new name: the New Agreement. But even more shocking is that the "New Agreement has all but removed...

I go to work at 3 o’clock in the morning so I need her there and I need her in my house so that she can help me with my daughter.”
